Are you referring to the May 6th conference call?

You could look at these packages from a different angle. Perhaps offering these discounts will get people off the hedge and spend money by going to the park that they were not planning to spend due to the price increase for everyday items. For example: the wife and I were not going to put down mulch this summer, but with the discount that Home Depot had over the weekend, it was a no- brainer to go ahead and pull the trigger and put down fresh mulch.

At least it's not $4 a gallon ... yet :)

As of recently, the wife and I have been doing things a little different to save on gas. Our local Giant Eagles are selling gift cards to a ton of places (TGI Fridays, Home Depot, Pets Mart etc.). Giant Eagle also has gas pumps, and depending on how much you purchase at their stores you get "Fuel Perks". So we just purchase gift cards and then get $.10 to $.20 off a gallon. We have saved about $200 in gas so far this year. -
LR is NOTHING like KI's Racer. Not even close. LR is a "dueling" coaster (aka each side does not mirror the other). Both sides give completely different rides.

CP's Wildcat Crashes?
Browntggrr replied to TOPGUN1993's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I really can't see WildCat going anywhere. There have been far worse accidents on other coasters, and they are still operating. As far as the 8" discussed in the article, it sounds as if that would be the space from when the chain stops advancing the car to where the hill is at. I am still waiting for the determination of why the anti-rollbacks failed. -

There is no doubt about that. Eight years ago $1 Canadian = $1.59 American. Today both dollars are almost equal. I also believe that the title needs to change for this topic. Gas hit $3.99 today in NW PA. -
BOOOOOOO!

Great Bear is a decent ride. Smaller than Raptor and Alpengeist though. LR is not to be missed. It is actually one of the best coasters, if not THE best, coasters in the park. Rollersoaker usually has a long line and is "meh". I have not been on Wildcat since they installed the new trains, but from all reports, it is a much smoother ride. But you should hit all the rides and form your own opinion, even if it means missing the zoo on a one day pass. If going for two days, you will have no problem hitting everything a couple times.

I am not sure if there is a site equivalent to KIC for Hershey Park, but there are tons of trip reports and pictures at ThemeParkReview. Just be wary of some of the members there. Where we at KIC are biased to KI, they are biased to the West coast, Europe, and everything negative toward CF. Some points are legit, while others are completely off the wall. Have fun at Hershey. It is a FANTASTIC park. Definitely one of the better ones out there.

$3.95 here in NW PA. This is a neat site for gas prices: http://autos.msn.com/everyday/GasStations....p;zip=16506#map -
Voodoo Enthralls

^ IMO really don't think there is a comparison. WT has greater forces, higher spikes, and twists on both ends. The twists are really what do it for me. I'm not saying that Voodoo is not a decent coaster, I just don't think it is on WT's level. -
^ 9 mpg? Holy cow! I get better than that in my SUV. What kind of car do you have?!?

Perhaps it is just me, but, spring has really been colder than usual. In the spring, I usually have to mow my lawn about every 5 days. So far this year, I have only mowed my lawn 3 times. Being that I live on the shores of Lake Erie, the lake affects the weather here a great deal. I just wanted to know if the Cincy area (as well as other areas down South) has been colder, or is it about the norm. If it has been colder than usual, combined with high gas prices, could have a negative effect on the park from an attendance standpoint.

Perhaps they are using pass information from previous years, and not necessarily this year.

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident

^ You are probably right. I just can't see a legitimate reason for the family not to have been compensated yet. -
Some attorneys make me sick. Yeah, all the years the tiger exibit was open, their was never an escape. It just happened that this one particular day, being intoxicated, in posession of a slingshot, and evidence that the victim was past part of the enclosure have nothing to do with the attack. It had all to do with the enclosure.

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident

Perhaps saving was not the correct term. I should have said "lowball". Instead of lowballing the family, give them what they want so the issue does not keep coming up and SF continues to lose customers. -
You could contact guest relations and explain what is going on. Not necessarily to get your money back, but for credit for a future pass. It's a long shot, but the worst they can say is no. Being that she will be that far along, I suggest : 1.) KI&MV RR 2.) Scooby-Doo and the Haunted Castle 3.) Eiffel Tower 4.) Crocodile Run

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
Browntggrr replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I don't doubt that at all. It is just that everytime another story comes out, it is like tearing off a scab to an old wound. SF may be trying to save as much money as possible by prolonging the investigation and settlement, but in my eyes they are also increasing a very bad light on an already delicate situation. The more the incident is mentioned, the more customers they can be losing. They can try and save (hypothetically) $50 million in the settlement, but if they lose $50 million in customer spending, they gain nothing. -
I agree that Arrow did many great things for steel coasters, but comparing Arrow's failures (Bat, Drachen Fire, X) to Intamin's design flaw, on one ride, that was easily corrected and did not force the removal of a ride is a bit extreme. And what about Drachen Fire? It was only 10 years old when it stopped operating.

CP's Wildcat Crashes?
Browntggrr replied to TOPGUN1993's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^^ Wow. That was vicious. We don't even know if it is true. Even people that are not lazy make mistakes too. And if it was human failure, I'm sure nobody feels worse than the person responsible. -

^ I really don't like to bring up other sites too much. It gives some people a big head. From RideMan (aka Dave Altoff Jr.)
