How do we know those pics were taken at KI? I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here, but, if I had the trains in my backyard, I could take the same type of pics and say that the cars are at KI. Can any of the numerous employees that frequent this bored confirm seeing the cars at the park w/o getting themselves into trouble?

When has CF ever showed that they did not want CP to remain the flagship park? Sorry to say, if you ever thought that CP would not be CF's crown jewel, you were only fooling yourself. Even with that, the selling of land shows and proves nothing. Why pay taxes on land that would not be able to be used for 30 years? Sell parts of it off, make some money, and then the park also has the opportunity of bringing in more people to the area. More attractions mean more people. And that is only if the selling of land rumor is true. And your thought of attracting 6-7 million guests/ year is inflated. Those kind of figures go along with year-round parks in Florida. Certianly not a seasonal park. And if 6 million were even concievable, can you imagine the crowds? The park is open about 130 days/ year. If attendance were to be 6 million, that would be an average of over 46,000 everyday. Heck USF brought in about 6 million in '06 and IoA was even below that.

4 years at GL is not long enough to make a profit? How long would you suggest?
-
Debt or no debt, keeping a business like GL operating that continues to lose money is plain dumb.

Nah, there is nothing weird about disliking a certain store due to the colors they use. Nothing at all. *freak* Seriously though, Pepsi does a nice job refreshing their look often. But on the other hand, people usually hate change. Look at the golden arches for McD's. It would be an absolute sin to ever change that. I guess Coke feels the same way about their "wave".

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
Browntggrr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There really are so many questions here. If the 49ers are willing to move 30 miles from SF, why does it have to be here? I'm sure that there are other places to go. Mr. York kept bringing up the "I've never seen the overflow lot used". Well put an NFL stadium there and you are going to need more than just an overflow lot. Not to mention, there will be more events than just the 10 49ers games there. What happens on those days? I'm not exactly sure if I would want my family to be trying to enjoy a day at the park, but then fight the crowds, traffic, and some of the disorderlies that attend sporting events and concerts. It really is funny on how they are trying to spin the whole "Selling the park will be beneficial to CF" angle. CF did not mention about selling the park until the idea to put the stadium there was brought up. And how beneficial is it for CF to sell the park, but don't own the land? Sure they will make money on the deal, but would it really make that much of a difference? It is also intresting that Mr. York also does not understand why CF "changed their minds". Apparently he has not investigated what happened to Six Flags AstroWorld. Both of these stories are very similar. If the park is struggling, the stadium will not help. Again, just look at SFAW for the proof there. -
KD's Italian Job to change names in 2008

Honestly I had 2 trips on Hurler this year and thought that both were actually (surprise, surprise) rather comfortable. -
^ Any coaster, wood or steel, takes a tremendous amount of money. And to be honest, Firehawk being a flying coaster (station constuction), it would not surprise me in the least if it would be just as expensive or more than the cost of a ride like Villian.

It could be that the load station set-ups are different.

How? I do agree with his comments. Combine the local economy with trying to bring back the original GL fans was very difficult. Chances are, GL lost a generation of fans, and the older generation just did not want to go back. And for the others, the money was just not there. Many parks across the nation have really not seen a decline in attendance, but it certainly is not increasing as well.

Well... While anything can happen, I think it is easy to say that: DZ is not being removed and Vortex is not sinking. I really can't see CF and Timberwolf being removed or Beast/ Racer getting new trains, but sure, it is possible. Now new ride names for 2008. Yeah, I can see that definitely happening. Given the fact that the park is selling something for a discount pretty much gives away what is going on.

As much as I would like to say Disney, I can't. The reason being, comparing Disney to any other park is like comparing my hometown (pop. 100,000) to NYC. That being said, I have a particular fondness for BGE with Hershey and KennyWood close behind.

Mission accomplished. You made me scream. And I have not had the privilege of attending HH.

Quite honestly, I think having more than one kids area is a good idea. Only because, most parks today have the parent swap/ child swap program. Now if I am waiting in line, my wife can let the kids go on their size rides until I am ready to ride my size ride. But if all the kids' rides are in one specific area, and the ride that my wife and I want to enjoy is on the opposite side of the park, we cannot enjoy the best of both worlds. Keeping the kids busy and not bored is one of my top goals when we go to any park.

My head hurts....

Probably storage. CP does not really have the indoor facilities like FoF to store the cars. KI is the next closest park.

Sorry for the double post, but this one really deserved it. How has CF not taken care of the park? It is much cleaner than it has been the last few years and the new paint that has been used at KI seems to have doubled years past. What classic rides has CF taken out? Sorry sir, that comment REALLY stumps me. Paramount removed MANY classic rides, while in the 16 months CF has owned the park, I cannot recall one ride that has been removed. If you don't like CF, so be it. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. But don't just try and bash CF with accusations that are not even remotely true.

Misery loves company. The differences between why GL closed and how KI operates is night and day. Golden Tickets are worth the same as a week old newspaper. There are numerous reasons why KI will not have the same fate as GL, and Golden Tickets would be last on the list.
-
Why do you say that?
-
Yeah, I missed that. It was rather hard to get past the whole CAPS thing and the numbered points. My bad.
-
You do know that the current trains on Beast are not the original trains. The old trains were 4 cars/ 8 person. Current trains are 6 car/ 6 person.
-
World records mean absolutely nothing for drop rides. There are plenty other legitimate reasons for not removing DZ.
-
^ While I am not questioning your time keeping abilities, I do question the staffing for the rides. In the middle of July/ August any park is going to have their best staff on the ride platform. But come this time of year, when staffing can be difficult to come by at a park like CP, I question how fast they can get a full train out. Chances are you are not going to have the same crew on a Sunday in October that you have on a Sunday at the beginning of August.

While SoB was originally intended to operate with three trains, last minute design changes switched the placement of the load/ unload station. When this was changed, a block was thus lost and the ride has been unable to operate with 3 trains.
