0 to 120 mph in 3 seconds loses it's thrill? TTD may be a one trick pony, but exactly what are you looking for with more of a thrill?

2003-2005 TTD was completely unreliable. 2006 it finally started to operate rather consistantly. And in 2007, well, you can see the results.

Kind of like when Art Modell decided to move the Browns out of Cleveland? Sure, people stopped going to games. (Attendance dropped from 80,000 to just over 50,000) All advertising was pulled. People virtually destroyed the stadium. Sure CF could have offered a bonus to try and keep some employees at the park for it's final days. But there is no guarantee of how many would say yes to the offer. What would have happened if CF made the announcement that the park is closing and the park was only half staffed? It would have been absolute chaos. Not to mention that some employees would have welcomed a bonus initially, but then renege later and not show up. Planning for the whole thing would have been a nightmare. It was simply a business decision. The negatives outweighed the positives.

If CF would have announced that GL was closing to give the few people that actually enjoyed the park one last visit, thye had the potential of having mo staffing. Think about it; what motivation would a miniumum wage worker have to come to work kowing that their job is gone no matter what?

Are you just as upset with the people that did not go to GL? I do have this wild idea that if people were going to the park, and CF was making money, then the decision to close would not have happened.

There really is no reason to change the name. This way they can still use some of the same material with minimal costs.

This article seems rather familiar.... Instead of blaming just SF, or CF, Busch, Disney etc. we need to start blaming ourselves. This is not a one park or one company issue; this is a industry wide issue. Once the consumer (myself included) stops purchasing food at parks, or for that matter, stops going all together, then the powers that be will get the hint. Until that time, all the big-wigs will just continue to sit back and laugh at us as they squeeze all the blood possible out of each turnip that passes through the gate.

Does it have low ridership? Honestly, there always seems to be a line for it. But on the other hand, there are many (if not most) water rides that have significantly smaller numbers of guests that enjoy the ride than other irdes in the park. Most often times I never see a line for CF or SRF (at CP), and rather minimal lines, less than 15 minutes, for WWC and TC (at CP).

So do you really believe that when both X-Flight and Steel Venom were being removed last year, CF had no intentions of closing the park for '08?

So when do you think the forecast was submitted? If it was after the season, it would not be considered a forecast. I would also have to think that to be a true "conspiracy theorist" you would have to believe that CF's intentions were to close the park four years after it was purchased.

For those who still believe that attendance was great and things were that much better under SF.

Now that the unfortunate decision to close GL is official: Why did KI get Firehawk instead of Dominator? It seems rather easy to assume (now) that CF had decided to close GL prior to the 2007 season, but what is their thinking to why a particular park gewts a particular ride? My only idea is that the footprint of FH is much smaller than Dominator, and KI had enough land to install FH with minimal clearing of land; whereas Dominator would have been more difficult to place in the current footprint of the park w/o clearing land for installation purposes. The same can be said for KD, as long as the rumors are true (Dominator going to KD as well as where it will be built).

Cedar Fair has had one full year to install new rides, and since the one ride that was put in happened to be from another park, a coaster no less, you are calling CF "junk city ride wise". Wow. Exactly what did you expect for 2007 when CF purchased the park in July of '06?

The restraints on Mantis and Raptor are still the original ones from when the rides were first opened.

Of course the people purchasing are smart enough to know the difference between the two rides. But it is the people that spend money to ride that count the most. If they don't know the difference, and are afraid to ride it, what is the point of buying it?
