So, hypothetically speaking, if there was no choice but to install trims on the first drop so the ride does not keep destroying itself (i.e. Mean Streak) you would be so upset that you would not forgive the park for their decision? Cause, you know, the other choice would be taking The Beast out.
  2. Schools are closed on Monday. Columbus Day is not exactly known for picnics like Memorial Day or 4th of July. And the weather was July/ August like. Now combine that with a unique event that only happens for a total of 21 days out of the year. And of those 21 days there are only 8 days where you can experinence all the rides, and all the haunts in the same day. Yeah, the park is going to be crushed.
  3. ^ Isn't IR grandfathered in because they have not had any major renovations?

  5. Online or not, you are going to get more miles from a park representitive than any survey.
  6. So you are going to find a person that has a survey or you are going to fill a survey out everytime something is not right? What the difference between a survey and going to GR? If someone is upset enough about a certain issue, they should bring it up. If they don't bring it up then they must have not been to upset to begin with.
  7. Firehawk: extreme roller coaster? Intresting way of describing FH. I would think that descrbing it as: "Firehawk: Ohio's only flyer" is more of a eye-catching line.
  8. The restraints are very different as well. People always ask (and are usually called fanboys) why they like TTD more than KK. Especially since KK is faster and taller. And the answer is: the restraints. KK has OTSR, while TTD has a lap bar very similar to MF.
  9. ^ Chances are, not as many as TTD. Only because, TTD has 6 trains, yet only uses 5 at a time. KK has only 4 trains.
  10. I believe that comparing GL to SoB is a very fair comparison. Obviously not from an asset comparison, that would be just dumb. One ride just cannot be compared to an entire park. But from the general attitude from CF, both are very comparible. Each has been failing for many years, each has not left CF in the black, and each has not been popular for a long time. Yet CF felt one entity was worth the expense of saving while the other was not worth the expense.
  11. 90% may have been generous. http://www.ushsho.com/detailedwoodrollerco...results2006.htm Please notice #176 out of a total 179 in 2006. http://www.ushsho.com/detailedwoodrollerco...results2005.htm #173 of 175 in 2005. And in a different poll here: http://www.geocities.com/wcoasterpoll/wcprs02.htm Sure, coaster polls are worth about the same as a week old newspaper. But usually there is much arguement for the coasters at the top of the list, but in this case, the general concensus seems to be the same for the bottom of the list.
  12. Moving Congo is not a good idea from a business standpoint. The costs associated with the removal and relocation/ re-pouring of the cement for the lake & channel for the boats would be astronomical. It's a popular enough ride to keep where it is, but not popular enough to accept the cost of relocation.
  13. I CF thought GL could have been viable in any way, they would have kept it open. Just look at what they did with SoB and the money they put into a ride where at least 90% of riders hate it. Is that not proof enough?
  14. 0 to 120 mph in 3 seconds loses it's thrill? TTD may be a one trick pony, but exactly what are you looking for with more of a thrill?
  15. 2003-2005 TTD was completely unreliable. 2006 it finally started to operate rather consistantly. And in 2007, well, you can see the results.
  16. ^ KCKC did have cleaner water in the early 80's; or at least cleaner compared to what the water was like the last few years of it's existence.
  17. Kind of like when Art Modell decided to move the Browns out of Cleveland? Sure, people stopped going to games. (Attendance dropped from 80,000 to just over 50,000) All advertising was pulled. People virtually destroyed the stadium. Sure CF could have offered a bonus to try and keep some employees at the park for it's final days. But there is no guarantee of how many would say yes to the offer. What would have happened if CF made the announcement that the park is closing and the park was only half staffed? It would have been absolute chaos. Not to mention that some employees would have welcomed a bonus initially, but then renege later and not show up. Planning for the whole thing would have been a nightmare. It was simply a business decision. The negatives outweighed the positives.
  18. If CF would have announced that GL was closing to give the few people that actually enjoyed the park one last visit, thye had the potential of having mo staffing. Think about it; what motivation would a miniumum wage worker have to come to work kowing that their job is gone no matter what?
  19. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/index.cfm And just think, just a couple years ago people believed that the ride would be removed for poor uptime.
  20. Are you just as upset with the people that did not go to GL? I do have this wild idea that if people were going to the park, and CF was making money, then the decision to close would not have happened.
  21. There really is no reason to change the name. This way they can still use some of the same material with minimal costs.
  22. This article seems rather familiar.... Instead of blaming just SF, or CF, Busch, Disney etc. we need to start blaming ourselves. This is not a one park or one company issue; this is a industry wide issue. Once the consumer (myself included) stops purchasing food at parks, or for that matter, stops going all together, then the powers that be will get the hint. Until that time, all the big-wigs will just continue to sit back and laugh at us as they squeeze all the blood possible out of each turnip that passes through the gate.
