  2. Nothing personal.... After seeing Robb in action when it comes to safety, and how he has handled those who have broken the rules, I just don't believe he would knowingly abuse, or completely ignore what he has been told he can or can't do. EDIT- A recent click over to TPR, and ironically enough, they were actually guests of Stricker's on the Midwest trip. Guess the issue between the Alvey's and Strickers was not as bad as you have heard.
  3. He only spoke of 2 rides that were .75 hrs. or longer. That really is not bad for CP, or any other park for that matter. Think about this. There was a 1 hr. wait for a brand new coaster at CP. TTD, one of the better rides in the park had a .75 hr. wait. MF only had a .5 hr. Did you expect something different? I really don't think a .75 to an hour wait on any day at any park is bad for a couple of the best rides there. Especially on the Friday of a holiday weekend. I guess I am trying to figure out what is considered "too busy".
  4. Although many enthusiasts despise trim brakes, or any type of brakes for that matter, parks would not spend the money on installation and maintenance on them if they did not have to. Sad, yet true.
  5. ^ Actually all the on ride pics, and POV's they have, were allowed from the parks themselves. Mr. Alvey has actually erased topics posted and thrown people out of TPR for doing "illegal" things. many of the "stickies" they have posted refer to what is acceptable and what is not. He is rather strict about such things and he needs to be. Now about Strickers, I have not heard about that incident. But everyone has stories about things that have been severly miscommunicated (i.e. Taking pictures at Splashin' Safari). There are two sides to every story.
  6. Can I throw in a "Thanks Captain Obvious" there? There is a thing called gravity that would not keep the water on the hill. Yet, I was looking at it from the "water slide" aspect. Of coarse the wheels come into play, but the dryer the hill is, the less momentum you will have going down the hill, which in turn has an effect in the splash at the bottom.
  7. meh... I will tell you that Beast is the best ride I have ever been on... Only because I was 6 for my first ride, and it will always be #1 in my heart. Now in reality, there are many other coasters out there that are much better. Just looking at the writer's top 10 lists, he needs to get on more coasters to have a real opinion. If you want to get some great opinions & reviews on coasters, take a look at theme park review. Some of those people, the owner(s) in particular, have been to almost every park & on every coaster IN THE WORLD! Now that is voice to listen to.
  8. ^ I'm not so sure about the boat jamming thing. Only because the gate at the top of the hill determined which side you went down. Once going down the hill, there was nowhere to get jammed up until both hills met back up into one "canal" at the bottom. So if jamming were the issue, there should not have been two hills to begin with since a jamming issue was actually caused at the bottom of both hills.. I am just wondering if it has to do with water flow. The water pumps back then may not have been powerful enough to completely flood one hill after a "keelboat" went down it. So two hills were necessary to get a completely "wet" ride. Just a wild stab...
  9. Kind of like being at the Blue Oyster Bar? ( couldn't resist! )
  10. Huh? So you are telling me that when I purchase my pass FOR 2008, my 2007 pass is invalid? That makes no sense. They cannot invalidate a 2007 pass because of a pass purchased in 2008. Sounds like your "inside track" is on the outside looking in. Either back your statement up, or troll somewhere else.
  11. ^ Just remember, a boat is a dry hole in the water into which one throws money. I am rather surprised and pleased with CF decision for the 2008 passes. Not only will I not be charged for SC in '08, it appears CF listened to people's complaints. Nothing's perfect, but it certainly is a step in the right direction.
  12. Actually, it is nominal. 3 of the 4 yacht clubs that are in Presque Isle Bay (Erie, PA) have the same rates within $200.
  13. ^ Actually the fee for CP Marina is right in line with the other clubs on the South Shores of Lake Erie, especially with the amenities that are included. The gas prices are actually cheaper than most on the water as well.
  14. Well there goes the whole "if" factor. Now I'm DYING to see what the crowd is like! Have fun all!
  15. Which could be the EXACT reason if CF decides to add an upcharge. Somethings just are not meant for kids, like Downtown Disney.
  16. ^^ What you have to remember is, at SC, it is a resort. There is not much in the area of Sandusky to compete with SC and CP. At KI with BB there is competition. Right across the street. But that doesn't mean it can't change. Anything is possible. But chances are, no, BB will always be included with the admission to KI. And if SC was not turning a profit, the admission would have been changed years ago. Which could explain the new "CF Platinum Pass", if it stays the way that the MA website is explaining it.
  17. ^ Oh, yeah, the summer before 4th grade. Mom grilled me everyday. But the thing is, somethings are accepted as memorizing back onto paper, such as multiplication tables. Other things that are not used day in, day out like history or science should not be. If you don't use it, you lose it.
  18. ^ Depending on what that includes, $35,000 does not sound that bad. Back on 2000, mine was about $29,000 in Erie, PA, which did not include the honeymoon. The honeymoon (6-10 to 6-24), ironically enough, was two weeks in Disney (Port Orleans). With a one day stop at BGA and two days at Universal/ IoA. Now if hotel, airfair, limo, etc. are not included; then at Disney $35,000 is crazy.
  19. http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/BillTex...7_SB_89_I_Y.pdf Sounds like a win-win for everybody. But now I wonder how this will effect the high school football season and the basketball season as well. Only because, if the bill is passed, that means the football season could start one week later which would push football playoffs well into basketball season more than they already do. Not to mention, if school starts one week later, what kind of attendance could you expect at a game where school has not started yet? So the two sport athlete would have to forgo basketball pratice/ games until the football season is completed, even more than they already do under today's school schedule. Just a thought...
  20. What stinks about Kings Island? Per the title and your comment, it sound as if you are blaming the park fault for the weather. Which obviously is not the case, since who in their right mind would blame a park for the weather outside? http://www.cincypost.com/2003/06/17/suit061703.html
  21. It depends what you consider normal. Just 3 years ago there was a charge (2003). Then for the past 3 years there has not been an upcharge, but the event has been so popular that you cannot do all of the events. The whole upcharge issue is a darn if you do, darned if you don't. Don't charge, and those who can only enjoy the park once a year, or once during HH (season ticket holders included) is going to be upset about the crowds. It's not like HH can be an all-day event you are limited by when it gets dark out. Which is also why the park will be open till 1:00am. Now if you charge, those who have season passes will be upset, because in their minds they have been led on by the notion that HH was going to be free. Those guests that don't have season passes really don't care if there is a charge for pass holders or not. All they want is to enjoy the night and enjoy all the events. Which is the lesser of two evils? That can be answered by the amount of people that complained the last few years that the lines were too long. Sorry season passholders. CF will make a decision based upon the bigger group, and that is not you. Quite honestly, with the amount of crowds that Halloween events bring in, especially at KI, not charging is just like BaFFD. The park was crushed those days, and the perk has since been eliminated.
  22. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...ic=1696&hl= About 350 miles or 5.5 miles from KI depending on traffic through Columbus.
  23. ^ The point was, is the park sold out for GE?
  24. The name SoB makes zero sense. That is like saying Brady Quinn should be called Joe Montana Jr. The similarities being both QB's went to Notre Dame, the differences being Quinn has not played a regular season NFL game let alone even sniffed a Super Bowl. The same could be said or the fiasco known as Beast and SoB. SoB is made of wood, so is Beast. That is the only similarity. People were expecting a ride to put the roller coaster industry on it's ear figuratively not literally. Beast put KI on the map for all the right reasons, whereas SoB caused attention to the park for all the wrong reasons. A good arguement could also be made for the amount of tunnels on Beast. I have always considered it to be 4 only because you come out of a tunnel on the helix and enter another tunnel. How can you leave a tunnel and re-enter the same tunnel yet still move foward? In addition, that part of the ride is considered a double helix. So wouldn't it be considered a double tunnel as well? Perhaps it's just me...
