First, DZ is not going anywhere. It really confuses me when the trolls come on bored and plant these "stupid seeds" in a rather good topic. Quite honestly, PT has nothing on SkyScreamer at Marineland. It looks rather like PT yet you get both the TurboShot & TurboDrop on the same ride. Unlike PT where you have to decide which one you want. SkyScreamer is easily the best drop ride I have ever been on. Perhaps it was the view of the falls that helped, but having both the drop & shot was great. But it is really only 1 of 3 rides for a reason to actually go to MarineLand.

When Paramount had Winterfest, was it a free event for season pass holders?

^ What is the real advantage for the park to offer a Gold Pass? It could very well become "Joe Cool" and offer daily ERT as well as special ERT events. But none of us have any idea what is going to transpire for the 2008 season pass. It may not be as bad as you think.

Yes the park will make less money with season pass holders than your typical one day guest. Especially those who live>.5 hrs. from the park. But the advantage of selling passes early (end of '07 for '08) is; income is being generated with minimal overhead for the park. Think of it this way, instead of the money sitting in your savings account making money, it's going to sit in CF's account making money. Now come 2008, the park has no idea what day the season pass holder will be a guest, but it doesn't matter. The overhead cost will still be the same because all the rides will be powered up, chain lifts running etc. Now IF CF decides to have an upcharge for HH for 2007, but if you purchase a 2008 season pass it's free, then the park can make an educated guess on what the attenance figures for HH will be.

That is your choice. But your family would only enjoy KI once during the year then. Anything more than one time, is really just a waste of money w/o season passes.

I got a sneaky hunch that the press release dealing with pricing for HH will also include season pass information. Anyway, there are so many rumors going around about season passes, HH pricing, ride removal etc. that all this speculating is causing more turmoil than it is really worth. Unless you are a CF exec, nobody knows what is going on, but it sure has people talking! Kind of like the same type of commotion that was caused by a certain coaster that opened in 2007 that turned out NOT to be an Aquatrax.

If I could go to HH, I would have no problem paying $20 for 6 hours in the park.

Which has to be one driving forces IF it is going to be an upcharge. The other being a non-child event that was mentioned earlier. And what I mean by that is; family comes to the park, sees that there is a Halloween event going on, kids get excited, stay till dark, only to get the bejesus scared out of them because the kids are 10. And in the parent's defense, it's a tough call. The park is geared to families with kids in many ways, so why would a Halloween event be any different? (at least that is their thinking) Since my kids are young (6 and almost 5) there is no way I could bring them. Even Halloweekends at CP is iffy for us.

At least it is original. I.E. Batman coasters, Superman coasters etc. This one will stand out just for it's name.

But perhaps there are things that were decided to be added for HH after the announcement of the season passes (not that we have already dealt with that! ). Up until last week, it was still FearFest. ^^ And, IF there will be an upcharge, the park actually did let you know. I would certainly classify HH as a special event. And now that I actually thought about it: Assuming that most here bought the Maxx Pass, and also assuming that since you bought the Maxx pass you went to both KI as well as CP (at least once) why would you complain about an upcharge for HH? Now I am just going to throw out some figures, but please tell me if you did go to either park more than I listed (and I'm sure MANY did): MaxPaxx= $125 Went to KI x 5 & CP once =$20/ visit Now full price for both park would have been about $270. Look at your savings. Sure you can throw in discount coupons, or buying online, but the point is, you already saved a good chunk of change by getting a season pass. Now look at it from this angle. HH is only offered late in the season. The park goes to great lengths to make it a special event. Meaning that this is an added expense that the park has undertaken. And so far, I have not heard one person complain that a prior event sucked, EXCEPT for waiting in abnoxious lines and that there were too many people that took away from the haunts. Look at things from the half full side.

^ Well along those lines... If the park is cleared before HH starts, that means you can still ride during the day, using your season pass, yet the extra charge kicks in after the park has been cleared and reopens for HH.

Location, location, location. KI is a regional park. CP is a destination park. KI has Cincinnati and Dayton, close and KI's biggest draw. CP has Sandusky and Huron, not exactly bustling metropolises. Both Cleveland & Detroit are 1+ hour drives, meaning there is much more planning for a family. If the weather is great, you can expect a large crowd at KI. If the weather is 50-50, people will shy away from CP. Even though some may not want to believe it, CP is a fantastic park for capacity. Whereas when KI gets busy, it can be rather hectic. IF the decision is made to have an extra charge, it is actually a good thing. Less people in the park means you enjoy more things. Sure, CF could make the Season Pass Holders happy and not charge an extra fee, but now you can just so 3 things all night due to 45,000 people being in the park. The rest of your time will be spent waiting in line.

That is possible, but the money that was originally put down would have been included with the sale price. And given all the issues CF has had with coasters in the past, there is no way that the full amount was already paid. Chances are it will probably be paid in either 1/3 or 1/4 installments with the last payment due once the ride is up and operating. (25%- design, 25% product arrival, 25% construction complete, 25% ride operating)- Just a guess. So it is still a hefty bill for CF anyway you look at it.

With so many rumors flying around about GL, I really would not believe a thing until an official press release is put out.

Nice addition for CW. I wouldn't worry about airtime, it appears to have a ton of it. I am also surprised that CF is installing a ride of this magnatude, given the financial issues that we have been led to believe. Perhaps things are not as bad as we thought.

It appears BGE is also charging 2007 season pass holders extra for Howl-O-Scream, unless I am reading it wrong (I am a bit tired right now ). But if you purchase a 2008 season pass, there is no charge.

^ Yeah that fountain story is great! I really don't know how a judge could keep a straight face reading that one. Back in 1989 I was on a boating vacation with my family. My second night in the park 3:00am-ish, I got a kidney stone due to dehydration. Yeah it hurt like HE!!, and I needed hospital attention. We had no car, so CP security was called. CP paramedics rolled me on a gurney down the dock and took me to a local hospital, after I passed the stone around 6:00am, CP security came back to the hospital to pick up my parents and I to bring us back to the park. Now I also needed a prescription pain killer. When the local Sandusky pharmacy opened up, CP security brought my dad there to get it. The point is, CP went above and beyond to help me out when the issue had nothing to do with being hurt in the park. Now imagine what they will do for a guest that is injured in the park. Now granted, some cases may be legit. But if CP was at fault, I really can't see them even letting it get to litigation, unless what the injured party was asking for was a crazy amount.

Being a season pass holder, there are a few things that I have observed. At CP, they charge seperate admissions for both the park and Soak City. Now many have questioned why they do that. Well, CP is a resort destiantion. If people were not going to go to SC and pay extra, then CF would have made the decision many years ago to include it with the park admission. Yet there are virtually no outside waterparks to compete with SC. So if SC was included with regular admission, the wait times would be terrible (as wait times usually are at waterparks). Make it an upcharge, to limit the number of people, thus keeping the lines down. Now at CP, there is no upcharge for Halloweekends. Why? Well again, CP is a resort destination. It is not a regional park like KI. People have to travel 1+ hrs. to get there. Now if you are a season pass holder that lives in Detroit, and you have to drive 2 hours to CP, and then CP is going to charge you more for HW; chances are, you are not going to go and do a Halloween event in Detroit only because you have already been on all the rides at CP numerous times. CP does get a huge crowd for HW, but the park is also so big that crowd control is much easier. Now let's look at KI. BB is included with admission mainly due to other competition in the area. But now they may charge more to get in for HH. Now how many times have you heard that the lines at FF were abnoxously long. It ****ed people off to wait that long. So what would you rather have: no charge, but wait in lines that are extremely long and take away from the haunts that are there -or- pay extra for less people and a more enjoyable "Haunting" experiance. Remember, more people equal a less scary event. And with many parks offering legalized line jumping for a fee, it is obvious people don't want to wait in line. Many of the events take place after dark, and if you are waiting 2 hours for one haunt, that is going to limit what you are going to do. Remember, the park will be open later than it has been in many years. Now look at it from the customer service side of it. If enough people complained in 2006 about the waits and mentioned they would be willing to pay more to do more, the CF listened to them. Now in 2007 if the numbers are down enough to where money is not being made, then come 2008, it may be a free event again.

I don't know much about the care of exotic animals, but how does a rhino eat 70 lbs. of sand, as well as be very pregnant, and the zoo keepers have no idea? Why would a rhino be put on a diet while prenant? And if she seemed as depressed as the zoo keepers claimed (can you imagine the psychiatric couch for that visit! ) why did they not do a full medical test on her? Something just does not add up.
