  1. Being a season pass holder, there are a few things that I have observed. At CP, they charge seperate admissions for both the park and Soak City. Now many have questioned why they do that. Well, CP is a resort destiantion. If people were not going to go to SC and pay extra, then CF would have made the decision many years ago to include it with the park admission. Yet there are virtually no outside waterparks to compete with SC. So if SC was included with regular admission, the wait times would be terrible (as wait times usually are at waterparks). Make it an upcharge, to limit the number of people, thus keeping the lines down. Now at CP, there is no upcharge for Halloweekends. Why? Well again, CP is a resort destination. It is not a regional park like KI. People have to travel 1+ hrs. to get there. Now if you are a season pass holder that lives in Detroit, and you have to drive 2 hours to CP, and then CP is going to charge you more for HW; chances are, you are not going to go and do a Halloween event in Detroit only because you have already been on all the rides at CP numerous times. CP does get a huge crowd for HW, but the park is also so big that crowd control is much easier. Now let's look at KI. BB is included with admission mainly due to other competition in the area. But now they may charge more to get in for HH. Now how many times have you heard that the lines at FF were abnoxously long. It ****ed people off to wait that long. So what would you rather have: no charge, but wait in lines that are extremely long and take away from the haunts that are there -or- pay extra for less people and a more enjoyable "Haunting" experiance. Remember, more people equal a less scary event. And with many parks offering legalized line jumping for a fee, it is obvious people don't want to wait in line. Many of the events take place after dark, and if you are waiting 2 hours for one haunt, that is going to limit what you are going to do. Remember, the park will be open later than it has been in many years. Now look at it from the customer service side of it. If enough people complained in 2006 about the waits and mentioned they would be willing to pay more to do more, the CF listened to them. Now in 2007 if the numbers are down enough to where money is not being made, then come 2008, it may be a free event again.
  2. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/worl...icle2317162.ece Also read some of the comments that Australians had to say at the bottom of the page. Sounds like those in the media are questioned there as bad in Australia as they are questioned here. I don't know much about the care of exotic animals, but how does a rhino eat 70 lbs. of sand, as well as be very pregnant, and the zoo keepers have no idea? Why would a rhino be put on a diet while prenant? And if she seemed as depressed as the zoo keepers claimed (can you imagine the psychiatric couch for that visit! ) why did they not do a full medical test on her? Something just does not add up.
  3. http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=...&id=5602901 This is a neat story. On a side note, any recognize the aquarium that the shark may be eventually held in?
  4. ^ But I'm willing to bet if the bill would pass where school does not start till after Labor Day these weekends in August would be busy.
  5. ^ Yes. And unfortunately even though it is better in a few seats, the overall experiance is still jarring. Now the SoB lovers out there will just dismiss the ride it gives because it is a "wooden coaster". There are many other great wooden coasters that do not rattle your body as violent as SoB. And even though Beast does give rough rides, it really only became rough perhaps the last 5-7 years. The ride is also 28 years old; and still not as rough as SoB. And it is really too bad. Both companies spent a great deal of money on a rather mediocre ride at best. The money spent on SoB really should have promoted the park to a new extreme, but it has only been a dark cloud since day one.
  6. ^ WE HAVE A WINNER! Browntggrr- remembering the great things that are Paramount.
  7. ^ Well, at least some of us understand *sigh*
  8. ^ Can you imagine walking through the queue line of WWC for a halloween event? What a prime area to have another haunt zone.
  9. Well the weather overall is no doubt better in SW Ohio than the shores of Lake Erie. CP's biggest draw over KI is still the resorts, especially that time of year. http://halloweekends.cedarpoint.com/public...current_root=27 http://halloweekends.cedarpoint.com/public...current_root=28 They really do go all out for Halloweekends. I also looked to see what the room availability was like, and at this time there were no rooms available at any CP property (excluding Castaway Bay) for the first week of HW. But I will still go back to the weather factor. Why spend big bucks for a park with questionable weather vs. spending bigger bucks at a park with considerable better weather? Now if GWL is really paying attention, they will do the samething in their hotel rooms as CP during KI's Halloween Haunt. What a huge marketing stratagy that could be!
  10. CF actually already knew. At CP the Satudays during Halloweekends with good weather are considerably busier than Saturdays in July and August. So busy, in fact, that one particular weekend the park was almost sold out of food. But now with having the same type of Halloween event at KI, and certainly the potential for better weather than the shores of Lake Erie, CF can really splurge on some attractions that they were not willing to spend the money on at CP. I can actually see CF spending more for the KI Halloween events than the events at CP in a couple years.
  11. OK, two things: 1) Am I the only one that thinks the new logo looks really slick? 2) Was the name changed due to Paramount owning the name FearFest? Yeah, I know that with the sale to CF, there was a certain time alloted where CF could still use Paramount's likeness and titles. But with this rather big change, is this only a preview of all things Paramount no longer being part of the park?
  12. And much of the money that has been spent went to re-tracking. So now that it has been determined that money is going to be spent either on re-tracking of removal of the ride, what is the lesser of two evils? If it goes to re-tracking, great. But SoB has been re-tracked on at least 3 occaisions since 2000, with no positve results. So I think it is safe to assume that re-tracking is not the answer. So now we are down to removal of a ride (yeah it will be a big bill) that will no longer take money away from other park projects. Browntggrr- who still hates the idea of removing any ride, but knows when to throw in the towel.
  13. Kudos to the maintenance crew for that one! I honestly thought the ride was done for this year...
  14. "Woofer, I thought I was going to die." "Not possible, you were never alone" *Interpreter fights back tears and clasps his friend in a hug.* *Woofer stiffens with embarressment* "Please Interp, not in front of the fanboys." *Interpreter laughs and hugs him all the harder. Woofer tentatively hugs him back* The actual names are copyrighted. I suppose it was the whole alone and dying thing that made me think of this. But if you can correctly guess the real names, you have the choice of prizes: 1) Your very own alone ride on SoB -or- 2) A burning torch to take care of that SoB once and for all!
  15. I honestly have no idea, but I'll throw a wild stab at it. My guess is that there is some type of control room at the top of the tower. Perhaps for the elevators, or the lighting system requiring AC units to keep the room in a controlled climate. Excessive heat + heavily used computers= bad things.
  16. Yes, we all aknowledged that this thread was from a year ago. Thanks for the help! Yet, that still does not explain the white track that was spotted since Griffon's is blue, which is why we are all speculating. Chances are though, the white track spotted is for Led Zepplin at Hard Rock Park which is currently being constructed. http://www.rcdb.com/id3852.htm
  17. I never called anyone an idiot. That was just your poor attempt at starting a childish online arguement. In reference to my quote: when someone comes over a message board and claims they know what the stipulations of a billion dollar deal only because they are a former ride operator, it sounds as if someone is trying to gain attention by claiming they happen to know more than most. Deals like the purchase between CF and Paramount fall through all the time, and normally, at the last minute due to the lenders getting cold feet. Claiming that CF confirmed the purchase at the end of the 1st quarter 2006 to the point where they directed Paramount on how to operate a park they did not own yet is rather foolish. Rumors of CF purchasing Paramount started becoming a reality the 3rd week of May in 2006, practically a month after PKI opened. Loan terms of the purchase finally were officially disclosed less than a week before the actual purchase. It would really undermine the integrity of a company if a ride operator would happen to know that the potential buyer of a park was already making decisions and running the park before the proper paperwork was actually signed. Now if you want to twist my comment by trying to discount what we discuss here, so be it. There are many visitors that claim to have inside information about what ride is going up next year, where it is going, etc. A majority of us here will not make those claims. But if you are going to make comments that you have inside information, be prepared to back it up with more proof than jsut because you operated the ride for two years. I'm sure the administrators and mods here have had many opportunities to disclose sensitive information about the park, but have wisely not mentioned a word. And in return, they have a great relationship with the park. They also fit the comment: Those who talk don't know; those who know, don't talk.
  18. Schools say education comes first. So what does that have to do with starting school after Labor Day? As long as the schools have 180 (is it 180??) days of class, education is not being compromised. What is the point of that statement?
  19. Well then I think you should volunteer to stand at the ride entrance and explain it to everyone. Then we will all know. Trying to have a ride that is not painful in all but one seat is just crazy talk!
  20. I have always been against tearing any ride out. This could be the one exception.... http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...hl=Son+of+Beast http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...hl=Son+of+Beast http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...hl=Son+of+Beast
  21. ^^ I actually thought their fiscal calander could be July 1st to June 30, or another possible fiscal date like you brought up. But after reading this: Attendance at Disney’s (DIS) Walt Disney World increased just 4% in the third quarter of 2007,, I just dismissed the article and author completely. Stating the it would be Disney's fiscal 3rd quarter results is one thing, but stating that it is the third quarter of 2007 is another. Just another member of the print media at it's finest!
  22. So this is a forum full of idiots... Now how did you come up with that?
  23. ^ What? RCCA/ Paramount and Premier just don't cut it for you?
  24. Attendance at Disney’s (DIS) Walt Disney World increased just 4% in the third quarter of 2007, and attendance at Disneyland resort in California was flat, although revenue did increase 7.4%. I wonder how they can claim that there was any change to the third quarter of 2007 when we are in the middle of the third quarter right now. Is there some kind of crystal ball that I don't know of yet?
