SoB's loop was 118' tall. Mantis's loop at CP is 119' tall. Dominator's loop at GL is 135' tall. I believe that this is the record holder for the tallest loop. Kumba's loop at BGA is 114' tall.

http://www.KICentral.com/history/photos/di...at=0&pos=59 That is a nice picture of KCKC. You can see the rotating platform, as well as the double drop rather clearly. I am not sure of the exact height, but it was much taller than most flume rides. You can also compare the ride height to the tree height in the picture. It was removed for a combination of things: maintenance costs & construction of TR. Much like White Water Landing at CP. KCKC did not race, nor was it an intense ride. But it was a terrific & relaxing family ride that did not get you soaked. That is one of my most missed rides, at any park.

I can recall many years, and no kids, ago where the wife (well before she was actually the wife) and I would make Magnum the last ride(s) of the night. The crowd in line was always fun, playing volleyball with multiple beachballs or doing the "great taste, less filling" routine.

^ And who does not have a dark side, or in a better term, who does not have an event in their life that they are not exactly proud of? I'm sure Walt did some rather shrewd things to accomplish what he did. He was a businessman. It is just that the good things that he did/ accomplished will always outweigh the questionable/ bad things. I really can't see how a person would honestly believe that the world is not a better place with Disney in it. For myself, and my family, what he started in 1928 has given us much enjoyment over the years. -
CF is in a difficult position. The Magnum accident early this year was blamed on wet brakes. Now if there would happen to be another accident with the same type of conditions, the guests involved would have the opportunity to really rake CF over the coals. Our society today is filled with many frivolous lawsuits, there really is no reason to give a ambulance chaser good ammunition. Or it could have also been a directive from their insurance company. I would not be surprised if CF used different companies for different parks. That would explain the different policies for the different parks. Yeah, the policy sucks. But it will not deter me from a great day at the park.

If I close my eyes, I'm at Cedar Point, ratcheting to the top of the Millennium Force roller coaster, Ratcheting to the top of MF? When I notice things like this, my wife has the pleasure of calling me a coaster geek. -

''The lack of experience shows up in the lack of ability to prevent these types of incidents,'' Niles said. I am not really sure on how to take this incident, or the quote from Niles. If it is a design problem, why does it matter how old the operator is or how long they have been working on the ride? Until it is re-engineered, the accidents will continue. But is it a design problem? According to this picture (scroll down one pic) http://www.disneyworldlive.com/madteaparty.htm it appears to me that you would really have to lean back, practically out of the car, to hit the handle of another tea cup. Also, wouldn't the handles of two cars crash into each other while they were spinning if they were that close? As insensitive as it may sound, IMO this girl was not following directions.

Read your own post. You know exactly what I am saying. You are whining about waiting in line with the rest of the bottom feeders instead of being treated like gold so you can walk on a ride and then cool off in the Festhaus. And the funny thing is, you even knew about the Speed Lane perk ending in July, and you are still complaining.

Thet are rather clear as to what is or is not considered to be a wood coaster with a steel structure or steel coaster with a wood structure.

While you maybe upset with all the verbal bashing of SoB, many are upset with the physical bashing the ride gives. So what is the solution? Well, if you don't like the ride, don't ride it. And if you don't like to read all the negativity, avoid these topics. ... but you already figured that one out!

TTD has never, even come close, to the incidents on SoB or on S:ToP. The issue with SoB was much more extreme, only because of how uncomfortable it is/ was for the riders. It was not an unknown fact on how it treated the riders.

Intamin and secure lap bar restraints really don't go together. Consider the issues with Perilous Plunge and S:RoS at SFNE. CF has endured a great amount of criticism over shortening MF seatbealts as well as TTD. And instead of creating the same issues, they went with OSTR's for Maverick. The same restraints were ok for Stormrunner and KK, and there is no reason why they are not acceptable for Maverick. This is why it was shocking to some here that CF actually decided to go with Intamin again, myself included. Breaking records is now a thing of the past. And records will be broken in the future. Just not nearly as fast as they were broken in the late 90's and early 2000's. MF was $25 million. TTD was $25 million. Maverick was $21 million. Things are not getting cheaper. With better/ greater technology comes a price. And there is no -est involved. -

I totally agree. A much needed pain killer after being on a ride is OK as long as it is a record breaker. Yeah, that makes sense. *end sarcasm* That is almost as bad of a comment as "only sit in XXXXX seat, it is a smoother ride". If it is such a good ride, why do I have to sit in a "special" seat? Or why do I have to be a geek enthusiast (you know you are too! ) to know where to actually get a seat that does not require traction when I am done?

So the people that visit the park once a year should wait in line longer since you are able to walk by them and get on a ride? And I was under the impression that the park was for everybody....

Sounds as if the party involoved should have tied off when he reached the top of the train. Now I really have to wonder what the he!! this has to do with the story: Last Thursday, three children and a woman were taken to a hospital after being jolted on the Orbit ride at Great America. Authorities said they complained of neck and back pain. Two completely unrelated stories, but the writer felt that this was necessary? Writers like this want me to classify them into the same catagory as lawyers.

SoB has already been changed enough times. What it is, is what it is. Not to mention, you just can't go adding track length. Scary as it sounds, there was a small amount of engineering done before the ride was built. Adding track greatly increases the possibility of a rollback. Especially now with the lighter trains. There has already been enough money poured into that dry hole.

What are you referring to? Sure you can build rides that are alike. There is nothing wrong with that. Just be sure that there is a great distance between them. (i.e. FoF at KI and KD, TTD at CP and KK at SFGA) -

Standup= gimmick Last standup built= 1999 Since 1996 (including Mantis) only 4 stand-ups built. Chances of a new stand-up being constructed anywhere. Go play Powerball and build your own.
