Somehow I have a difficult time believing you really feel this way.

And what has the gay community asked for that is different than everyone else? I believe that our small community here at KICentral has a benefit coming up on 8-4-07. How is that different?

^ Wars have been started this way. Opinion is one thing. Starting a flame war to induce your opinion is another. It really is a matter of racism, which in this case, has nothing to do with black or white. I also would really like to see the whole "hold up in court" thought proven. Everyone has protection from treating a group of people less than everyone else. We all have rights.

The GP does not know they will have to wait longer. They expect to wait in line as long as everyone else. If everyone that gets a season pass upgrdes to "gold" that really kills the park experiance for those who really look foward to it once a year. Make the perk a ERT, early or late, but don't hurt the average guest. And sure it will hurt the family that comes one a year. Once they get burned by it, they will go to another park next year. Which in the end hurts KI, and us as well. Less revenue=less "high experiance" rides. I really could do without another IJ or TR;TR that is not kept up.

adam12- Was that really necessary?

Move One Ride from Anywhere in the Country to KI
Browntggrr replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Coming Attractions
Easy choice. Spiderman from IoA. -
Now speaking of being fair. Is it fair for a family that can only experience the park once a year to get stuck behind all of the locals that get to use their "Gold" pass to line jump them? You may believe that using the term "line jump" to be an extreme, but it is still what is happening. And many may not believe this, but, those families that can only come once a year will spend more money than season pass holders. Cedar Fair was in a darned if you do, darned if you don't position late last year and early this year when it came down to season passes. Many people expected CF to carry on the same perks as Paramount had previously, so CF tried to make everyone happy, which is always a losing battle. I expect the passes for 2008 to be much easier to understand.

Actually, yes. It was only a couple years ago where the park was closed to the public the first Sunday in June. I remember it well because I was in town for my cousin's graduation from Fairfield (Saturday afternoon) and my family intended to go to KI on Sunday. We came to find out that the park was closed to the GP on Sunday and ended up going on Sat. night. And then I found out, after we returned home, that anyone that traveled more than 150 miles could get into the park. That was a great customer service move. Cedar Point used to have their opening day on a Sunday in May due to Longaberger Basket Company having a private event on Saturday. Not to mention, if a corporation has enough money to purchase an entire day at a major amusement park, imagine how many people are invited to attend. I certainly would not want to be there that day. The waits have the potential to be enormous.

CEDAR FAIR IN TALKS OVER $4.1 BILLION TAKEOVER
Browntggrr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
The story of a sale seemed rather fast, and all current indications, not true. For Mr. Kinzel to come out to squash rumors about his potential new employer does speak volumes. -
CEDAR FAIR IN TALKS OVER $4.1 BILLION TAKEOVER

Well that was rather fast. Even though this story really means nothing, for it to hit the media with possible stipulations for the sale is really intresting. -

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident

Does it really matter if the press release was drawn up by an attorny or not? As a parent, I really cannot relate to what her parents are going through, but there is nothing in that statement that I could not say I would have different feelings for than what is written. If the parent would have made the statement, there is a very good chance emotions would have taken over and one of the parents could say something, damaging the case and just make it a more difficult time than what they are already going through. -
^ I'm not disagreeing with you. But when should a young adult be held accountable for their actions? This girl was on the verge of being in high school. By now, you would hope she has learned the difference between right and wrong. Obviously her twin sister knew the difference. I have, unfortunately, seen great parents try and steer their kids in the right direction, only to have their kids still do what they want to do. At this point in her life, you would hope she can at least read signs.

KI is not the only park to have early closing times. Dollywood has some closing hours at 6:00pm in August. BGA has closing hours ranging from 6:00pm toward the end of August to many 8:00pm & 9:00pm closing times. BGE has closing hours ranging from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. HolidayWorld is actually closed Monday thru Friday the last two weeks in August.

Update: Please be aware, there is a graphic picture when you click the link: http://www.miamiherald.com/467/story/182494.html DANIA BEACH State report clears teacup ride teen was injured on A state report doesn't find fault with a Magic Teacup amusement ride that sent a Tamarac teenager to an intensive care unit. BY NATALIE P. McNEAL nmcneal@MiamiHerald.com Natashia West was injured June 28 on a ride at Boomers at Dania Beach.A state inspector has concluded that a teenager who was seriously injured on a Dania Beach amusement park ride wasn't following the rules. The report indicates that 13-year-old Natashia West must have been trying to stand up on the Magic Teacup ride when she suffered the bloody head injury that sent her to a hospital intensive care unit. ''The most likely cause of this accident was patron failing to follow ride instructions to remain seated,'' states the report by Robert H. Jacobs, chief of the Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection. On June 28, Natashia rode in the Magic Teacup ride with her twin sister and another friend at Boomers in Dania Beach. The ride carries passengers in big, swirling round cups. At the center of each is a wheel that riders can turn to control how fast the cup spins. The cups circle a large teapot. During the ride, Natashia somehow leaned backward far enough that her head hit the ''spout'' of the stationary teapot in the center of the ride. The report indicates that the ride operator heard the impact and started slowing the ride, but before it stopped, Natashia's head hit the handle of the teacup next to hers. She spent eight days in the hospital, and went home on her 14th birthday, but family members say she hasn't been the same. Vision is blurred in her right eye and she sometimes sluts her words; she's often sleepy and feels congested at night, said her father, Donnie Jackson. Natashia is seeing a pediatric neurologist and is in rehab. It's uncertain if she will start high school this fall. The inspection found no mecahical flaws on the ride. A posted sign clearly warns riders to remain seated. The operator was trained properly and the ride had a daily inspection. The ride remains shuttered while Boomers. owners meet with the manufacturer, but it has been cleared by the state to reopen. ''If the instructions were not being followed by the patron, unfortunately, serious accidents may occur,'' said Terence McElroy, spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which oversees the Bureau of Fair Rides and Inspection. But Natashia's father doesn't agree. ''Those rides should be set up for the worst-case scenario,'' Jackson said. ``There should be no way that if a child leans back too far, it takes her head off.'' As terrible as the result of this incident is, the fathers's comments are shocking. So let me get this strait; if you have a sunroof in your car, and your kid is standing up through it, and your kid is injured, it's the car manufacturer's fault for not thinking about a worst- case scenario? I am really sorry your daughter was injured, but she is old enough (entering high school) to know not to stand on a ride.

Yeah, I would hate to make that decision. What is not going to be operating today, SoB or TTD? But funny enough, TTD has ran rather consistant for the last couple years now. BTW, for those who actually think it could happen, TTD is not being moved to KI, or anywhere else. You have a better chance of riding live unicorns through SoB's new loop.

Delorean Rider- You brought up many points, but have an intresting way of trying to show Paramount was better during the 90's than KI was during the 80's. - Waterpark business is booming everywhere, and practically everypark has expanded someway in the last 10 years. It is also inexpensive to expand. Boomerang Bay could have been so much more than it is now, it is too bad the budget was on the low end. And I almost forget "Crocodile Dundee" needed to be attached to the name? Talk about giving the waterpark a black mark before you even enter it. - Ambition for SoB? You could try and paint that picture. And the Titanic could not be sunk, even by god, defiantely one of the most "ambitious" statments in history. But has there been a ride that has failed more times or has been a bigger disappointment than SoB? The Beast put KI on the map back in 1979, and you insult the ride that put KI on the map with SoB? Again, SoB could have been so much more than it is now, it's too bad the budget was on ther low end. - Creation of Action Zone? Well, perhaps. It sounded great before it opened. But one I went to the park and saw all the large movie posters, I then understood why they used the word "action". I also get a great laugh when people bash Cedar Point for being a cement city (which it is), but then turn around and promote Action Zone. What a joke! I remember what that area used to be like when KC was new and Lion Country Safari was still around. It was Busch Gardens-esque. -Nick Central? Did they really put a lot of effort into the area to make it unique, or were a bunch of rides re-themed and spun to the public as new? - Shows? The park was owned by a STUDIO! The quality of the shows should have been some of the best against any park. While in '99, they might have had 7 shows, in 2005 how many were there? (BTW, CP currently has 7 shows. And many other events during the day as well http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/show...?mode=shows#22) - FearFest. Ok, what major amusement park does not have a Halloween event? They followed all the other parks. You can tell me that I am holding a grudge too long, but I remember in FearFest's early years I had to pay extra to get in, and I was a season pass holder. - The recreation of Winterfest? Smoke and mirrors for the potential buyers, and again, failed miserably. I would rather have had no Winterfest at all compared to the half-a$$ event they put on. If they wanted to do it right, spend the $$ to do it. - Paramount did remove the Flying Eagles, as the ride is no longer at KI. They also removed the Antique Cars for IJ? A ride that has not operated correctly from the beginning? And turned one of the most beautiful place in the park to something that looks like SF wouldn't even touch? Again, if your gonna do it right, spend the $$. Paramount did some good things. Can't dispute that. I just don't like how they treated the park the last couple of years under their ownership. The general maintenance was half-a$$ed in many departments. At one time, KI was one of the most beautiful, clean, well maintained parks out there. Leaps and bounds better than CP. It reminded me of what BGE is today. And it is difficult to swallow knowing what the park was, to what it turned into.

Unfortunately, there are people that will abuse the system. I'm not sure how to prevent something like this without treading on thin ice when it comes down to individual rights. It is a really touchy subject. But you are right, if some loser wants to fake an injury/ disability so they can get a scooter, and then a person who actually needs one can't, that is dispicable. I am not sure if the park could request some type of doctor's excuse without violating rights.

If you consider being ripped because you are proven wrong, then please take your own advice.

So how do you know that the "overweight dude" does not have a thyroid issue? Haven't you ever been really excited and moved faster than usual? And how can we be taking you wrong when you make the comment that "Mental handicap don't cut it with me". There are various forms & levels of mental illness, autism for one, where a wheelchair may not be required, but it is advised to be used. Especially in large crowds. There are no other ways of taking your cold insensitive comments. You also may like to read some comments here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...ndicap+policies

^^ You have got to be kidding me! There are some cold- hearted, insensitive people out there, but you take the cake. First of all, they are not "stealing" your spot. The ride operators make a determination of how long the ride is, and tell them to come back at a certain time. Or they have friends wait in line, and then get on the ride when thier friends are gettin gon as well. Also, just because they can get up from a wheelchair and walk to the ride does not mean that they can wait in line like the rest of us. There are many conditions where people cannot be on their feet for an extended amount of time. I'm sure if you asked ANY person that relies on a wheelchair if they would rather get on at a ride exit due to their condition, or wait in line like everyone else, they would choose the latter. And if they are "stealing" your spot on the ride, does one extra cycle really mean THAT much?
