Someone's getting a new B&M
Browntggrr replied to TheKlockster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Whoops! What was I thinking a year ago? -
Not to mention, I'm sure that B & M would not like it if Intamin would use the term "dive coaster".

Kinzel's salary and bonuses are not a surprise. Under his direction, CF has made an abnoxious amount of money. Especially 2000 to 2005 when CF's stock rose over 50%. CF's board of directors made a whole load of cash, and, the board tends not to forget that kind of thing. Not to mention, I'm sure he has certain incentives in his contract. When those are reached, that is when the bonuses (i.e. 401K) really kick in. It's just too bad that the print media does not mention those types of things.

What was I thinking? Where did I get off thinking I knew anything about my ride for 2 years. I'm sure those who ride TRTR once in a blue moon know way more about Tomb Raider than I'll ever know. I was wondering when the rose colored glasses would be put on. Now from an operations standpoint, yeah, you better know more than me. But the comments that CF confirmed the sale pre-season, and not fixing themeing at CF's request has nothing to do with day-to-day operations of a ride. Those who know don't talk, those who talk don't know.

Super Saturator at Carowinds To Go Dry
Browntggrr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wonder why they are closing it. RollerSoaker at Hershey is a decent ride, especially when it is scorching hot out. But it has terrible wait times. Interactive rides like that are fun for everyone. -
What's the funniest thing you've ever seen at Pki?
Browntggrr replied to Columbus coasternut's topic in Kings Island
Wow. This is an old topic! I wasn't there to actually see it, but, the funniest thing would have to be when the couple got busted for doing a sexual act in the photo booth. They were caught because the screen on the outside of the booth was showing everything they were doing on the inside, and they didn't know they were giving a show. I'm sure someone can find the story somewhere. EDIT: Found it! http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2000/08/1...verexposed.html -
Did you honestly think that any park operator is in the business not to make money? For that matter, do you honestly think that any business owner's first priority is not to make money?

So Paramount was taking directions from a company that had no financial stake with them, about a ride that is themed to one of their movies that ultimately reflects on their movie company? I would also really like to know how CF "confirmed" the purchase of the parks in the pre-season. I was always under the impression it is up to the lending companies to confirm if a puchase is going to go through or not. Hence the reason why the sale did not go through at the end of the 1st quarter, but at the end of the second quarter. So now, should I be under the impression that if for some reason that the sale did not go through, then Paramount would have fixed the themeing later in the year?
-
OK. So CF removed a ride for the same reasons that Paramount did. But the results for CF has been a much better ride. Chances are, the best ride for 2007 for any park. CF spent the money for Maverick, whereas Paramount built TR with the same type of cash flow as they did for SoB. And, ironically enough, treated the ride the same as SoB as well as IJ. Promote it like crazy, then let it go to the junkyard. Now Paramount let TR go down hillway before CF ever took over. That is easy to determine since all of the pre-ride themeing was not even operating much of 2006 BEFORE CF took over. But instead of blaming the owners of the park, you are going to blame the builder which built the ride in 2002. Now the ride is down. Why? CF is cleaning up Paramount's mess, the same way CF is cleaning up the SoB mess. Paramount was supposed to be a THEME park. It really is too bad they let the THEMEING go on all the rides they put in.
-
Well, that is just not good. I can't imagine the catch car having too much freedom to become that unbalanced without considerable damage. Any bets that it doesn't operate again in 2007?
-
Speaking of warped... Paramount had how long? CF has had how long? The changes so far have been encouraging. I may not agree with depositing extra money into a ride that does not deserve it, but at least CF had the testicular fortitude to pull the trigger and get the ride operating. They did what they had to do. And that was in only in their FIRST year under heavy financial demands. So, in comparison, the future is that much more brighter with CF.

Basic is as basic does...

Well first, it wasn't me saying that, it was Stephen Hawking. Second, no reason to thank me. Thank Wikipedia. After that comment, do you just love Forrest Gump or what?
-
Just so we all know... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory My particular favorite line is: : According to Stephen Hawking in A Brief History of Time, "a theory is a good theory if it satisfies two requirements: It must accurately describe a large class of observations on the basis of a model which contains only a few arbitrary elements, and it must make definite predictions about the results of future observations".

No it is not the same theory. Not even close. The trains on Voyage still travel on the same type of tracks that are on Beast, SoB, Racer etc. Thus considered a wooden coaster by industry standards. http://www.rcdb.com/id3231.htm Your theory is not even correct for coasters that have steel tubular tracks, with wood supports like Gemini, CCMR, and AE. Each one is considered a steel coaster. http://www.rcdb.com/id14.htm Now, in both cases, the structure is a hybrid. But the coaster type is exactly what the trains run on. I have never been in Timberwolf for a concert, so I really have no way of knowing. So my opinion, well it sucks. Perhaps the screaming from the rides in Action Zone would echo into the Ampitheatre. But shutting down AE and FH? It seems shutting those rides down would be a stretch.
-
First, perhaps a better way of explaining that you believe Beast is the best coaster, is simply stating that "It is the best coaster I have been on at night, so far". Amazingly enough, there are many other great coasters outside of Ohio. And Voyage is not a hybrid, it is a wooden coaster, with steel supports.

Given your TR, it reads like you had a great day!
-
^ It is easy to remember something that is now gone. Especially since what replaced it... well, let's just say it's not the worst ride in the park. It needs to actually operate to be considered a ride.

$75,000 missing from Kings Island, supervisor indicted
Browntggrr replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island
^ And this is the proper place to make that kind of announcement. -
I would like to see the numbers for that one. Especially since Racer has double the capacity against any ride at any time.
-
This is a concert, not a church service. I have a difficult time hearing the person next to me at a concert, so hearing a ride make noise 100' behind me is a non factor. Now throw in rides in like Firehawk and AE being closed and it just doesn't add up. Why would those rides have negatively affected the concert due to noise?

Well, she is in deep doo doo. It is too bad that people feel they have to go to this level to make themselves a better life. I sincerely hope that if she has a family, that they are affected as little as possible.
