  1. These PETA movements occasionally make me cringe. This is one of them. SeaWorld's intentions are actually great for the animals, but are being portrayed as exploiting the animals. Businesses like Sea World have done more for sea life, orcas specifically, than probably every other sea life business combined. Imagine what we would not know if it wasn't for Sea World. While they are in the business to make money, the education provided to the World is second to none. A prime example: http://seaworldparks.com/en/seaworld-sandiego/animals/animal-rescue/
  2. I never thought of the "forces" on ID to be enough to cause any pain.
  3. http://www.meadvilletribune.com/news/local_news/hotel-conneaut-operator-files-for-bankruptcy/article_f465d153-0855-500d-a619-9c39f781ad90.html The fight for the Beach Club insurance money continues...... My guess is Park Restoration knows the park itself is going under & wants the (well deserved) insurance $$ from the Beach Club.
  4. Though ID more than Bat; each breaches the gap from small rides to large thrilling coasters. Not every coaster needs to have record breaking thrills to be successful.
  5. The whole book is for Sept 2015- Sept 2016.
  6. Take it for what it is worth: My youngest is selling a coupon book for businesses in Erie & surrounding area. We just received notice that CLP had their coupon removed from the book.
  7. It would take a HUGE miracle to save the park. To be honest, it is a miracle it has lasted THIS long. The park has little draw, little $$ money coming in and looks like a ghost town. I was there earlier this year, and 2 groups of people literally questioned the safety of the rides due to the appearance of the park, and left telling their kids they were going to Waldameer.
  8. You have now alluded 4 different changes and questioned the design from 1978: - change to the track for stress reasons - removal for land expansion, - removal for popularity - removal for bigger and better coasters. You sure you don't want to see the demise of Beast? Info links added: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/article/online-fun/The-story-behind-The-Beast http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20073739,00.html http://www.cincinnatimagazine.com/features/screeeeeeam/
  9. And this is why many of us are mentioning the history behind how Beast was made back in 78-79. Because you young greenhorns don't understand the history behind it. KI has an incredible amount of room to expand without getting near Beast, so land is not an issue. Change for the sake of change is not always good, but we all know nothing lasts forever; because you did change your stance from Beast getting a makeover to being removed. Both are huge undertakings & are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum.
  10. What makes you believe Beast was "designed"?The original plans changed on numerous occasions. Large trees even changed the "design".
  11. No reason to change a legend.
  12. ^ The family is suffering enough. No reason to charge them. But if you ask the "expert", they probably did wear well defined signage.
  13. Yeah, this guy is an expert. An expert at being an asshat.
  14. Lord, no.Just- no.
  15. I have been bummed with the removal of KCKC & the Antique Cars. But variations of each can be found at other parks. Racer though? This one would sting for quite a long time. Business is business, and often times it sucks and tastes like garbage. I hope for a redo to how Racer was back in the mid/ late 70's. Hope.
  16. While I do agree enthusiasts often look through rose colored glasses, speeding and Skyline are poor examples comparing to the deceased's tragic decision. Both of your examples in excess can harm you. But if done in moderation, will not. 5mph over the limit is speeding, but hitting anything at the 55mph can kill you just like if you were driving at 60mph. Same goes for Skyline. While not the healthiest of foods, eaten once a month will not kill you, but eating it everyday could. He made a bad & hasty decision. There is a fence, with postings, surrounding the area for a reason. He did not heed the warnings and unfortunately paid the ultimate price. There is not much to "judge" concerning the tragedy. Now enthusiasts being compassionate with the tragedy? Yeah, some really don't get it.
  17. Well done remembering the deceased & accurately reporting the "accident".
  18. I grew increasingly frustrated just reading the first 2 articles from the above post. Not because of the article, but because of the other links provided in the article: "10 year old dies at Six Flags" "Theme park ride breaks, sends riders flying" Why are these links provided in this story?? This incompetence is pure Nancy Grace & Fox news mixed together.
  19. For those who criticize parks on their increasingly strict loose article policy, please remember this tragedy.
  20. What would posess someone to jump a fence into a restricted area? Suicide? Better view for a pic? Lost an item?
  21. Sad for all involved. Hopefully the media will concentrate on the trespassing and not the ride.
  22. Much thanks to you sir for confirming my point.
  23. Its threads like this that give parks a bad image when it is actually enthusiasts creating paraniod drama when none actually exist. What started as a guest being asked to pair up with a child somehow turned into child molestation & the park being accused of forcing many things. It's sad, nauseating, and also completely understandable why parks are limiting enthusiast perks today that existed 10+ years ago. Agree to disagree. Creating issues that do not exist for the solitary goal of arguing only hurts the park.
  24. I have seen where the park has asked to be paired up with a stranger but still have not seen where the park forced anyone to sit with another. But even then: how old was this child being discussed. 8? 13? We really don't know except that the child was tall enough to ride. But here is a preventive measure that will not make anyone feel awkward: tell the ride op that you are a single rider and prefer to ride alone prior to getting on the ride. No directing. No questions. No awkward feeling. And for parents that are concerned about the sudden paranoia involving amusement ride child molestation: don't let your child ride alone.
  25. Response was to previous poster. But much of what I said does refer to prevention. As a parent, you don't allow a young child to go to the bathroom anywhere by themselves. But on a ride? Why? Any parent should be more concerned about ride failure resulting in injury or death than child molestation on a ride.
