  1. Welcome to KIC! How many days will you be at CP?
  2. How many more members need to point this out?
  3. Parents, those who raise a child day in, day out, know exactly how their child acts when truly scared or when they are simply acting. It is not only insulting but incredibly disrespecting to attempt to create drama when, from the outside looking in, looks bad from YOUR opinion, yet still refuse to listen to real everyday parents. And that in a nutshell is exactly what is wrong with many kids today. They are coddled and allowed to act out because they don't like something, mom/dad allow kids to make excuses to NOT do something. This then gives the child a sense of entitlement. After that ball is rolling it is very difficult to stop. As another member mentioned earlier- a child literally jumped from the moving train. Now what on God's green Earth would make that child believe that was safe or acceptable? A prime example of kids who act like this can be found here at KIC. Look up the threads about: smoking, line jumping, stealing, and just all-around inappropriate behavior. These kids breaking simple rules have that sense of entitlement have do not think twice about it. While this is an enthusiast site about a fun place that most of us enjoy leaving reality at the main gate, simple life long lessons can be achieved when strapping your child to a ride. Do yourself a favor, listen to ALL those with kids. Picking and choosing what to listen to only creates unnecessary drama and is not a true way to form an educated opinion.
  4. Whoa! Whoever said "force"? "Pushing" is one thing, "forcing" is unacceptable. Please do not confuse the two. It would be a shame for some to get the wrong idea and attempt to stir up drama when it never existed from the beginning. Thank-you for your cooperation in this matter!
  5. ^Some parents believe not "pushing" your child & let them find things out on their own is a good thing. They are so terribly wrong. Allowing that type of behavior is bad parenting. It sets the child up for failure later in life. But let's face it (and I am going to apologize in advance for being blunt) the mother purchased season passes not knowing if the child even liked rides?? She does not have the greatest decision making skills......
  6. Most parents learn quickly how far they can push their kids. As Tr0y mentioned- tough love. My youngest will look at food she has never tried and scream yuck. Some parents will allow their kids to be a picky eater. But me as big bad dad will just take her phone away until she at least tries some of it. Typically she likes it. I did the same with TTD. She loved it. Not so much with X-Scream at Waldameer, which she still hates. When going to KI her first time & seeing Drop Tower, before even asking she told me to keep the phone. She didn't go on. Yes, she still has her phone.
  7. KI has not opened due to weather during HH. http://kingsislandinsider.blogspot.com/2009/10/advisory-park-not-open-thursday-for.html?m=1 Very unique, but it has happened.
  8. If that is true, great. But I question the accuracy of the report. Why 45 days? The ride has been sitting for 7+ years, suddenly now there will be a "45 day" window??
  9. How about instead of protesting what happened a handful of years ago, this group reach out to other parks to see if they want to buy it?? Perhaps then they will find out that nobody, except them, wants it. The horse is dead. Beating it will not make it come back.
  10. ^^ It really is not just coasters. KW has that "old park feel" much like the Coney Island section of KI was pre-Paramount or Hershey Park's sections of "The Hallow" & "Kissing Tower Hill". It is too bad a few individuals, and media oversensulization, can make a great park look bad.
  11. Save it for what, and more importantly, whom?
  12. South wind= chilly/ cold. North wind= REALLY cold. But a cold day at CP is better than a warm house in February.
  13. So were those shirts planned for a pic in this discussion? Incredibly ironic!
  14. http://www.times-standard.com//opinion/20130804/lets-face-it-common-sense-is-not-a-common-thing
  15. Did she "dangle" the child over the enclosure (like Michael Jackson did many years ago at a hotel) or did she lift the child above a railing and lost control? There is a significant difference between the two. One being malicious, the other- not so much.
  16. No it's not.Dumb? Certainly. Inexcuseable? Other than dropping the child with malicious intent, it is a dumb mistake. Let it be a learning experience for others. "Inexcusable" suggests the mother should lose her rights as a parent and at this point the punishment does not fit the crime.
  17. People make mistakes. As of right now, given her & the father's reaction of immediately jumping into the enclosure, there is no reason to believe this is anything but an innocent (and INCREDIBLY stupid) mistake. We have all made boneheaded decisions at some point, especially dealing with kids. Difference being our mistake(s) typically don't make national headlines.
  18. I can only hope this story & soon to be charges go viral scaring future parents from having a similar brain fart. I also hope the charges remain a summary & small fine.
  19. You mean the seagulls vs. your car?No, I meant it exactly how you took it.Each park completely different. The rides are completely different. There is no intelligent way to distinguish which is better or worse for a true "vs." discussion. This exact topic has been brought up numerous times only to end in a pointless ****ing contest that will never have a true leader between the two. Then there is the obvious fact that this is a KI fansite. Topics like this bring out the worst in trolls.
  20. Oh geez, this "vs" crap again? Just be happy both parks are easy driving distance away.
  21. The hiccup with the insurance payout is the operator of the club paid for the insurance. He not only covered the building but also all the items in the building he provided & paid for.
  22. And the hits just keep coming....... http://www.goerie.com/new-debts-added-to-conneaut-lake-parks-top-20#
  23. Be sure to be engaging & show energy. Too often those being interviewed show little energy due to being nervous & it is perceived as being unmotivated. Also- ask questions. It shows genuine interest in the job. Good luck!
  24. I am praying *praying* to the newspaper gods that an aquatrax design is leaked to the Sandusky Register...... -Brown- who is kicking himself for deleting Lance from speed dial.
  25. And among all his well detailed & opinionated "faults", somehow CF prospered. I can think of another President who is blamed for everything, yet the country is not doing nearly as bad as some want to make it seem. I can only hope those who take such time to detail the negatives, the positives are not forgotten. Let's face it, everything he did could not have been all bad nor that much different than others in the same position of power.
