Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
Browntggrr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This just smells of total deflection of the true issue(s). Was the hotel $140K in debt? According to Park Restorations-no. They have been improving the property & from what has been reported (key word) the deal was that capital improvements cost to the hotel came off of the rent due. This is similar to the trustees not having fire insurance on the Beach Club, but wanting to collect on the on the policy that Park Restorations paid for- not only for the building loss but for all the equipment Park Restorations lost as well. This whole situation just stinks to high heaven. Info on Park Restorations from years ago: http://www.pasbdc.org/success-stories/2011/06/15/park-restoration-llc -
Kudos to Shark for mentioning the quality of the picture. For me: we have traveled 6 hours, already spent a good amount of money, looked forward to entering the gate, discussed what ride will be first, and waited in line to get into the park. At this point I don't know who is more excited, me or the kids. Then we get asked to take time out about about getting a pic taken...... The times we have said: "Yup, let's do it!", only one time did the pic come out great. Now we were all excited about getting on the rides, took out what we consider very precious time, only to have the pic be so poor. Our attitude has become: it's a waste of time.
-
Perhaps if the cost of the pic was more customer friendly, it would be more successful. Other than that, we just say "no thank-you" and keep on walking.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?

It is hard to applaud an act that should have been totally in the public eye years ago. The Pepsi grant movement should have continued publicly with a constant reminder through FREE social media years ago. Way too little way too late......... -
The alleged is from Erie, PA. http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2015/10/22/Cedar-Point-apartment-site-of-rape-accusation.html
-
Why is the constant reminder such a bad thing? We constantly hear about horrible situations like this. What about the ones we don't hear about? Predators like this do not stop. Ignoring it solves nothing. Not communicating to other women that it is OK to come forward is a horrible way of handling it. As a parent, I want my girls to hear about stuff like this. Hopefully they will learn to not put themselves in situations like this. You don't want to hear about it? Don't click the link.

Why is this being brought up? THE GIRL IS A MINOR. She should not have been in the building- which is a MAJOR CP issue. She should not have been left alone- which is a MAJOR friend/ parent issue. She should not have been the least bit attractive to the alleged rapist. While I do believe there is always two sides of the story, I do have faith in the authorities that they would would not have taken the alleged into custody without some type of physical evidence. She was taken to the hospital to be checked out, most likely for a rape kit. Although DNA evidence will take some time, any bodily fluids present is more than enough evidence that something happened. Now, it is possible that it was not the alleged rapist is a patsy for someone else (boyfriend, sick-ass uncle etc.) but there has to be some truth to the story given she was at: "point A" with "group of people" and the "alleged". And no YOU CANNOT USE THE "ENTICING" CRAP WHEN IT INVOLVES A 14 YEAR OLD.

DC Comics coming to Cedar Fair Parks?
Browntggrr replied to Beasttamer's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And this is the exact problem of always splitting hairs. The topic title is DC Comics coming to Cedar Fair Parks. Why does the poll question trump the actual topic title? I think we can all agree the primary reasoning for opening the topic from the beginning was "DC Comics" and "Cedar Fair". -

Sure. The Clydesdales could also support Coors..... Reebok could sign Jordan..... McDonald's could be flame broiled...... Jim Kirk could use the force..... ......The list continues.... -

^ The story was recently updated (12:36pm). I do not recall seeing the "apartment" side of the story until just now. But even if it happened in the living facilities, it is still considered Cedar Point property.

14? My daughter is 14. Too young to be associated with a story like this. Is it safe to assume that she was working as a Halloweekends Screamster? I can't imagine a 14 year old working for: rides, foods, cleaning etc. UPDATE: Great Pumpkin Fest allows 14/15 year olds. https://www.cedarpoint.com/item/Jobs/Monster-Jobs?mobile=0 The other big question- where? Was it in one of the dorms? In the park? Ugh.....

Take a box. Climb a tall tree with lots of branches. Get in box. Jump. When you think it is over, climb tree again & repeat.
-
Many members here are from a much younger generation. Some even were not tall enough to enjoy SoB when it was operating. Is that why they want it back? They never had the "pleasure" of experience others had....... Personally, I voted for KCKC. I loved that ride. WWL at CP too. Both were water rides that were refreshing, not soaking....... I also voted for no rides to be removed. I hate to see a ride's demise.

I wonder how many members participated?

Why is that?

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?

http://www.goerie.com/judge-to-hear-arguments-on-conneaut-lake-park-reorganization# Is he actually arguing that the current trustees DO have the necessary business acumen?? The same group that chose not to have fire insurance but want to reap the benefits because one of their tenants paid for it on their own?? **smh** -
These PETA movements occasionally make me cringe. This is one of them. SeaWorld's intentions are actually great for the animals, but are being portrayed as exploiting the animals. Businesses like Sea World have done more for sea life, orcas specifically, than probably every other sea life business combined. Imagine what we would not know if it wasn't for Sea World. While they are in the business to make money, the education provided to the World is second to none. A prime example: http://seaworldparks.com/en/seaworld-sandiego/animals/animal-rescue/

I never thought of the "forces" on ID to be enough to cause any pain.

My guess is Park Restoration knows the park itself is going under & wants the (well deserved) insurance $$ from the Beach Club. -
Though ID more than Bat; each breaches the gap from small rides to large thrilling coasters. Not every coaster needs to have record breaking thrills to be successful.

Take it for what it is worth: My youngest is selling a coupon book for businesses in Erie & surrounding area. We just received notice that CLP had their coupon removed from the book. -

It would take a HUGE miracle to save the park. To be honest, it is a miracle it has lasted THIS long. The park has little draw, little $$ money coming in and looks like a ghost town. I was there earlier this year, and 2 groups of people literally questioned the safety of the rides due to the appearance of the park, and left telling their kids they were going to Waldameer.
