Nice diversion.Well played.

Aside from the costs associated with keeping that much material & labor just sitting around unpainted with no purpose; due to the numerous coaster types & train uniqueness for B & M, it would be hard to imagine a need for a "standard section" for stock.

Or "you can't handle the truth". Something unique possibly? My take on the "no camping": some of the new ride goes into the area formerly occupied by Camper Villiage (not sure if someone has already mentioned that).

It's a quote from the movie "A Few Good Men".

Kings Island angers special-needs parents
Browntggrr replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Kings Island
It's not just the waiting in line that is the underlying issue, but the break from the norm. (i.e.: the special needs person is not able to watch a certain TV program at a certain time due to breaking national news. They will not understand why the program is not on TV.) For instance: there have been many issues with WS. What would happen if WS stops at the top for an extended amount of time (aka- breaking the norm)? Those with special needs have been known to have incredible strength. Could they get out of the restraint? It's a scary thought. -
Kings Island angers special-needs parents

Much like the issues that constantly plague society today, there is no one thing/ plan to solve the problem (I call it a "Magic Wand"). Many today do not know what autism is as the first thing they think of is "Rain Man" (on a side note, Dustin Hoffman was excellent!). There are a handful of more severe cases, and most less severe (many go undiagnosed or diagnosed at an older age). Parks (since SIX has now entered the mix) do try and cater to everyone, but the decisions are for the majority of disabled guests, not the most severe. Policies often change with any business & just because it has been done one way in the past, does not mean it is the right way today & does not mean it cannot change in the future. One thing is certain: in our litigation happy society, parks will first cover their own butt before allowing a possible safety incident to happen. -

Kings Island angers special-needs parents

The policy is as fair as it can be for everyone. With the risk of sounding insensitive (and I truly am not), if a guest has a severe enough case that a set time to ride still cannot be followed due to the possible reaction, I'm not sure they would/ should be able to ride to begin with. What if the ride stops due to a malfunction (as had made news at KI twice this season)? Will the guest be able to evacuate the ride safely without a reaction that could possibly hurt themselves or someone else? It is both an unfortunate situation & decision, but IMO as fair as it can get.- 84 replies

Kudos to your family for the effort to make him happy. Many do not. -

^^ Did you have issues at different parks because he thought the park was CP and did not have PE? -

I agree with Vortex that the park is in a no win situation. Those families with mentally challenged members do not want special treatment, yet do not want to wait for a ride like everyone else? That is a bit contradictory. My daughter was diagnosed with autism, and I have not & have vehemently refused "special" treatment. Now she does have a mild case, which makes it much easier for us to deal with, but I want to press her into knowing how to deal with it as opposed to using it as a crutch (I understand many are not in the same situation). That said, I am confused as to why this is an issue. If there is a set ride time, why would anyone have to wait more than 10 minutes? -
Most guests are terrified of heights than inversions. As a kid, did you have nightmares of falling out of a loop, or just falling from a high distance?

I thought Monroe's post was extremely well done. Some need to relax & have some fun with the speculation. We will all find out is due time.

According to the test seat, you are correct. Either the light goes green or it doesn't.

Well played Don, well played.

We are not close to that stage yet. Yet....... The SoB topics are so numerous over many years & have so much imagination in their contents, it would be of epic proportions to reach an "SoB topic status". I have felt for many years that the KIC community would not be where it's at without SoB to discuss.

The troll complains of the jackhammering of DB, but lets it be known SoB was their favorite coaster. Comedy truly has no boundaries.
