Beach Reopens
Browntggrr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ If I am not mistaken, you turned your Beach pass in for a discount KI pass. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25187-the-beach-closing-after-27-years/page-3 Courtesy of Delirium13: Kings Island EXTENDS SPECIAL TRIAL OFFER TO 2012 BEACH WATERPARK PASSHOLDERS http://www.visitkingsisland.com/article/media-center/Kings-Island-extends-special-trial-offer-to-2012-Beach-Waterpark-passholders Beach season passholders can use their passes visit Kings Island for free on one day and upgrade for $49.99. Sad to see the Beach close, but this a smart strategy by KI I think to gain some new passholders, possibly for years to come. -
Beach Reopens

Classy move. They didn't have to do a thing, but have gone above & beyond with that decision. Customer service "things" like that encourage me to go, but, I am now bummed now that our trip in a few weeks will not include The Beach. -
This sounds rather familiar......

Just stating that safety is "a given" is poor attitude. Safety is never "a given". I do find it interesting that it's the ride ops not busting their ass at KI, except when it comes down to you "downing" rides for safety issues. Unless you are on the platform the whole time any ride is open, there is no way to know why trains are stacking. Assuming it must be the ride ops not busting their ass is just trolling. I do have to bring up Mantis at CP into the stacking discussion. Mantis has 3 trains, and used 3 trains for a handful of years. When it became obvious that trains would be stacked no matter the effort, the decision to only use two was made.
-
^ Gemini & CCMR specifically come to mind. Those trains had sandbags to add weight to the trains.
-
Don't think so?I have been on numerous coasters that had less than half-full trains. The experience was deteriorated to say the least.
-
Each ride is very different. An example of computer issues: TTD has so many sensor/ prox switches (especially on the brake fins) is was a nightmare for the first few years. Structural issue: Beast 10-15 years ago was down for sometime for tunnel issues (apparently one of the sides of the tunnels collapsed). Another would be SoB (no explanation needed).

Nobody was there when it happened. I wonder if it made a noise?

Beach Reopens

Those who say that say he did that to protect his primary business, Cedar Point. Does that mean parks like KI & KD are to be considered a secondary business? Brown, who too likes to ask questions. -

^ There are still many that believe CF, under Kinzel's leadership, purchased GL just to watch it fail. -
Beach Reopens

Inside joke? Perhaps it is because the "OPEN NOW" sign never seemed to moved off the slides for a few years, even in the winter. As far as thinning the crowds, probably not that much you would notice. SC admission is still included with KI. The Beach will be a separate charge. -
After brewing upon this overnight: Non-emergency calls to 911 should be met with charges against the caller. Bogging down emergency lines with these types of calls is concerning as this is just one example of bad 911 judgement. I can only imagine the other types of calls 911 receives on a daily basis.
-
What did they expect a call to 911 to accomplish? People like this need to be given their money back & escorted to an exit. An attempt to enter the park again and you will face trespassing charges. And shame on any media outlet reporting this non-story.

CoasterMania! questions

Resort shuttles go to any stop (i.e.: front gate, marina gate, SC, HB, SS, Bay Harbour Inn etc.) and have ran that early for special events. -
Amusement Park Accident
Browntggrr replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^^^ Xcelerator @ KBF. Many conspiracy theorists believed this was also fake. Can someone confirm Intamin's fix for this problem? -
Pick the thread that best communicates your thoughts. If that doesn't work, pick the most commented. Others then can go back & update themselves.

Millie, Maverick valley at CP
Browntggrr replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Maverick is back up & running. It is extremely windy & cold on Lake Erie today. As far as winching it through: perhaps the valleying was a mechanical issue as opposed to a weather issue? Or would the time & effort to winch it be the same as removing the train? Update: we just had wet snow precipitation. -
At least in the area I live, it's all about fluoride. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/fluoridated-water Conspiracy theorists believe it causes cancer. Dentists have proven it prevents tooth decay. It is believed that bottled water does not have enough fluoride to cause cancer. I do love the irony of tooth decay & the topic at hand!

Check out: http://www.themeparkbrochures.net/ Just a heads up- it's brochures. KIC also has a great search feature with tons of topics relating to brochures & similar collecting: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/22677-kings-island-collectors/page-2?hl=brochures#entry446319

Maintenance will also partake in a few trips on steel coasters (probably most rides) after a few test runs to "listen" for potential problems. It is amazing what can be heard on an empty train early in the morning.
