Don't mention this to some people. They will still make an attempt to convince you SoB could be seen falling apart while traveling 20+ mph from a considerable distance. I wonder where those folks went? hmmmmm.....

New Disney World theme park?
Browntggrr replied to fanofFirehawk's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It would be foolish to think that more parks are not on the table/ have been discussed. IMO we will not see a "new" Disney park for at least another decade. It appears to me the current direction is to renovate the current parks (Fantasyland) and add to the current parks (Pandora). On a side note: I would absolutely LOVE to be a fly on the wall in the meetings concerning the ideas for the additions/ ideas for the parks. Even the ideas that are shot down are probably phenomenal. -
FD obviously needs an epidural.

Was KI better off with some other company than cedar fair or cedar fair

Given how reluctant KI has been with the HH info (on FB), I suspect they are still finalizing the operating ride details. I personally would go on a Sunday to experience all the rides. Going on a Friday, you may experience a good handful of closed rides.

Is it worth it? There are SO many variables, it would be impossible for us to guess correctly. Ultimately, it comes down to the almighty buck. Ridership comes into play, as well as how much individual attention is necessary for the ride (this takes away from other rides) to operate. Location needs to also be considered, as in the case of BBW at BGE. That was a PRIME coaster location as we can see with Verbolten. I don't believe the same can be said of FD's location. Typically, CF has long range plans for rides/ areas. They also don't usually install a major new ride in the same area (close together) in consecutive years. Given SoB is coming down, I assume a general makeover for AZ, and the next major project to go near SoB's former footprint. My assumptions can also be full of crap as I didn't anticipate the removal of DT at CP given the last-second decision to remove WC, but if you look back to the decision to remove DD & installing WS you can see how CP planned GK many years in advance. All that said, I don't see FD being removed for a handful of years. (of course since I said that, it's gonna close at the end of the year )

It is not difficult to take a part, reverse engineer it, and make it. We do it all the time in the shop I work at. It will not be cheap, but far from impossible.

New attraction at Knott's Berry Farm?

No words. RIP KIfan1980.
-
No, and logically speaking, much less than half. The precision necessary to remove a structure like SoB can only be compared to black and white to the precision necessary to construct a structure like SoB.

SS has been a maintenance nightmare for some time. Spending excessive resources (time & money) anymore would be counterproductive. It was a nice ride & I'm sad to see it go for nostalgic reasons. The park has mentioned on a few occasions that the removal would take place during the off days in September.
-
Ask those who have been injured on SoB if they believe the coaster's life was cut short.
-
It will take a lot of money & a long time. Seriously, it depends on the contract signed with the firm taking it down. I venture to guess $1 million plus the firm can sell all the acquired materials. I also guess it will be gone by opening day 2013.

I'm not gonna pretend to be a mod (because God knows I do not have the filter for it) but another SoB topic? The "Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed" topic is more than adequate for this isolated question. Starting a topic just for the sake of starting a topic gets too messy in the forum world.

^ I thought it was a promotion last year, but it very well may not have been. I have never used it due to always having a season pass......

These people are nuts: If these people would have taken advantage of this promotion last year, wouldn't they already have 2012 season passes?

The best new coaster debuting in 2013 in North America will be...

A very generous winner
Browntggrr replied to Monroe's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Great story! The amount of money he has spent is astounding. Even if the game is $1 (which we know not to be true), a quarter of a million "toys" is $250,000. -
SoB already has a large enough black cloud over it.FB will blow up with: "did you see SoB during HH???? KI put out all the bodies to display what the ride has done!!!!!"

Is the record breaking ride building era over for Ki
Browntggrr replied to stashua123's topic in KI Polls
It really depends how the park wants to spin it and what you consider is a record breaker. "KI'S NEW 2013 ATTRACTION IS THE LARGEST COASTER NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER & SOUTH OF COLUMBUS!" -
^ Mr. Armstrong already proved the moon was not made of cheese.

^^ Just saw this comment myself. I never thought to pay attention at the race of everyone in the pic. They all looked to be having a good time. Unfortunately, this guest was more concerned about making a non-issue an issue than having a good time with his family. In other news: You can lead a horse to water.....
