  1. SS has been a maintenance nightmare for some time. Spending excessive resources (time & money) anymore would be counterproductive. It was a nice ride & I'm sad to see it go for nostalgic reasons. The park has mentioned on a few occasions that the removal would take place during the off days in September.
  2. Ask those who have been injured on SoB if they believe the coaster's life was cut short.
  3. It will take a lot of money & a long time. Seriously, it depends on the contract signed with the firm taking it down. I venture to guess $1 million plus the firm can sell all the acquired materials. I also guess it will be gone by opening day 2013.
  4. I'm not gonna pretend to be a mod (because God knows I do not have the filter for it) but another SoB topic? The "Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed" topic is more than adequate for this isolated question. Starting a topic just for the sake of starting a topic gets too messy in the forum world.
  5. ^ I thought it was a promotion last year, but it very well may not have been. I have never used it due to always having a season pass......
  6. These people are nuts: If these people would have taken advantage of this promotion last year, wouldn't they already have 2012 season passes?
  7. I'll hold my vote till I can experience them all.
  8. Great story! The amount of money he has spent is astounding. Even if the game is $1 (which we know not to be true), a quarter of a million "toys" is $250,000.
  9. SoB already has a large enough black cloud over it.FB will blow up with: "did you see SoB during HH???? KI put out all the bodies to display what the ride has done!!!!!"
  10. It really depends how the park wants to spin it and what you consider is a record breaker. "KI'S NEW 2013 ATTRACTION IS THE LARGEST COASTER NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER & SOUTH OF COLUMBUS!"
  11. ^ Mr. Armstrong already proved the moon was not made of cheese.
  12. ^^ Just saw this comment myself. I never thought to pay attention at the race of everyone in the pic. They all looked to be having a good time. Unfortunately, this guest was more concerned about making a non-issue an issue than having a good time with his family. In other news: You can lead a horse to water.....
  13. For those who cannot visualize LlKC's well defined Beast rundown: I would like for those to take notice in the comment section that Beast lost the record of longest wood coaster to Shivering Timbers in '98.
  14. They must be close friends & all had to experience it: While it is rather nasty, I'm not sure it would be classified as a "Health Hazard". That is, unless you eat off the bottom of your shoe......
  15. You figured it out, Beast enjoys pig in a poke more than it's ability to operate. I would take it personal & start a FB protest page.
  16. Yeah, I'm a redneck. Will someone please pass the PBR?
  17. Why does it matter if she spent $700 in the park? Even if meant something, how would this particular employee know it? It is sad some believed they are entitled to certain things. If she had any intelligence, she would understand that the employees are very young. She is the pathetic one complaining about an extra few minutes over $.04. Get a life lady.

  19. Bad story, but no fatalities. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/visitors-ignored-warnings-kolkata-park-authorities/284299-3-231.html
  20. ^ Space Spiral was built in 1965. From what I can find, not prove- Older rides: Midway Carousel- 1946 Cadillac Cars- 1958 Scrambler- 1960 Sky Ride- 1961 CP&LE RR- 1963 BS- 1964 Turnpike Cars- 1965
  21. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120821/CINCI/308210054/Beach-Waterpark-owners-file-bankruptcy I assume this is a move that paves the way for the new owners to not take on the debt they did not create.
  22. Ridehound- Did you mention this to Guest Relations? If not, why not? You could have been easily answered at the park. That said, as many have mentioned, cans with covers are often ignored and the trash is thrown on the ground. When I owned my business, I had to remove the covers off the cans in the ladies room because some few DISGUSTING "women" chose not to lift the cover and decided to SMEAR their used PRODUCTS on the wall above the garbage can. I can agree that not having hooks in the stalls is irritating. Do not blame the park for vandalism. An owner/ operator has to make difficult decisions when it comes down to incidents like this: is the item being misused constantly replaced which could also damage what it is attached to, or do you just give in and decide to fix the things that are not being damaged behind closed doors?
  23. The wooden structure could be easily sold to a paper company. You wood be shocked to know what chemicals are used in the paper making process.
