  1. When has winter ever started in January? The announcement was a capital expenditure for the 2017 season. Did the 2017 season start in April 2016 when they opened for the year? If you don't like it, don't buy a season pass for next year.
  2. Actually Winter 2016 starts December 21st. Also, fraud? Really.
  3. I believe they are saying holiday season 2017. Starting around Thanksgiving. Also, they are announcing it this early to try and boost season pass sales for next year.
  4. This must be why there was blacktop being poured down that way.
  5. Free entry for Gold and Platinum passes is going to be the biggest boost to event attendance.
  6. Doubt it'll be through Picnic Grove, they have big events in there the few weekends they are closed to the public. I could see something happening in Soak City though.
  7. Perhaps you need to go see an eye doctor.
  8. See Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags Darien Lake.
  9. I don't think an Enterprise would fit in the old Flight Commander spot. The diameter is too large. Why not put it in it's original location at the front of Coney Mall? I realize Skylab was a Giant Enterprise, but similar enough. Source: ThemeParkReview It was in that same location after Adventure Express opened
  10. Tech Services is located in the basement and their shop is fairly small. They could possibly put a ride on top if they were to tear it down, however, I think it's unlikely anything but a motion theater still attraction would be located in that spot.
  11. There is a 0% chance they are adding two coasters in one year.
  12. There has been reported work by Action Theatre, this leads me to believe it's probably Plants vs. Zombies, Mass Effect, or some other similar attraction that being installed in Action Theatre. Another option is the return of Winterfest for 2017. Both could be completely wrong.
  13. Shouldn't feed the trolls, but TTD has a 52" height requirement. Millennium Force is 48" 1) Kings Islands SORELY needs more rides for kids in the 48" height requirement. By the time this opens, my niece and nephew will be 52", but this year it was hard telling them all the rides they couldn't ride. 2) I think the shed, as previously mentioned, will be some sort of AV show while the trains are being loaded. I wouldn't expect much, they teased the enclosed section of IJ:ST and it ended up being just a bunch of curves. It'll be a nice touch instead of just sitting in the hot sun. The shed will also house the transfer track for maintenance, but you won't be able to see it. I see the blocks being the following: Station Station to top of lift hill. Top of lift hill to safety brakes (before the shed) The shed itself (block brakes) That will allow them to have 3 train operation. 3) The layout matches what was filed, guesses were fairly close for the most part on height and length. Anyone who had seen the posted layout and thought it was over 150ft. is crazy. 4) All of the twists and pops will be great. It's nothing like The Beast or Racer.
  14. In the case of Vortex, the blocks are as follows: Station Station to top of lift Top of lift to MCBR MCBR to Safety Brakes (before the final bend) Block brakes before station It is possible to get a train to fiy straight into the station, but not easy and requires basically a perfect storm. This can lead to the front car overshooting the station. Source: I supervised the ride.
  15. I think you all are over estimating the GP's interest in the announcement. I would bet that 90% of the people who are in line prior to 9:15 are from some sort of roller coaster fan site.
  16. Could be Splintercat or it could be a diversion. It was posted on Don's twitter, not KIPR. Also, the reason that construction workers are allowed in the areas near DB while it is running is they are supposed to be wearing hard hats, as it is a hard hat area, not a restricted one, and have likely received some sort of site safety training.
  17. #teamRMCKI2017ftw Is a hashtag one word?
  18. Clermont Steel Fabrication makes track for B&M coasters. People frequently go out there and it has been mentioned several times in this specific thread. This coaster is not steel.
  19. Unfortunately, I think these people imbibe the same amount regardless. When I was in Park Services we would find handles of hard liquor in the trash, in the toilets, and in the grass. Not to mention the cases of beer stuffed in the trash can. We had a name for the event that pertained to the clientele. There were fights and arrests nearly every night, Scareactors assaulted, and oh yeah, midget 'rasslin. Also, I definitely agree with the quality of the house. They are all very short and have lacked a quantity of scareactors. I think more of that has to do with the budget and trying to dissipate the crowds rather than effort put into the event. If they had fewer houses, they would need more queue areas to handle the longer lines. This is just my opinion though.
  20. Yes, but not as much as working at the park at some point during 6 different season does.
  21. MFG: GCI Length: 3200 ft. Height: 115 ft Drop: 100 ft Speed: 55 mph Inversions: 0 Overbanked corners: 2
  22. Hmmm odd. It's too bad that Cedar Points most popular coasters are Intamin. I mean they only make the best coasters on earth. I mean Maverick does not have any downtime. Did they need to replace a piece of track sure. But after that.......nothing. MForce never down. Then there is TTD, Yes it is down sometimes but that thing is a MONSTER. I would assume it would be down with how big that thing is and how much power it pushes out. I understand you like your cookie cutter b&m's ......o well. One day Cedar Fair will learn and use Intamin again when people start getting bored with cookie cutters......Moving on after my rant. lol So how about renovating drop zone with seats like Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa haha Maverick has frequent break downs, almost daily. It recently stalled in the middle of the course causing the ride to be evacuated. MF has had several long downtime sections due to the elevator lift. TTD in addition to breaking down daily, has had a cable explode and cut people's faces, had the theming fall off while the ride was running, and struggles to run all 6 trains it was designed to run. I agree these rides are great, but reliable and safe as they need to be, they are not. That's not even scratching the surface of the issues with Shoot the Rapids, which they are lucky didn't kill anyone, and the issues Intamin has had with it's restraints.
  23. Shake, Rattle & Roll would disagree with you. They did a rehab on Shake Rattle and Roll because it was going to be down the rest of the season. They are independent events.
  24. I would imagine that they would not do a rehab in the middle of the season. Not saying for sure. A mechanical or electrical issue likely is the cause of the ride being down.
