I did eat at Harmony Hall. The food was mediocre, the lines VERY long. Have you tried it yourself?

Cedar Point's food service is far worse than Kings Island's. Carowinds seemd to be on par with KI as far as I'm concerned.

Coney has Special Announcement Coming March 2
teenageninja replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Pretty underwhelming. -
I was going to mention that I assumed they were using the 95th percentile of humans in some way, but wasn't sure what it was. I also assume that the restraint systems are built based on the 95th percentile of humans as well.

Why? It's basically Backlot?

What are Kings Islands Plans after Mystic Timbers?
teenageninja replied to louisvillecards1's topic in Coming Attractions
Much of those remaining acres are not really suitable for future expansion, keep that in mind. -
Until the ride becomes too expensive to maintain, then they need to keep it. It's a very good ride for being 30 years old and one of my favorites.

I think you would be hard pressed to see the park invest anymore money in Rivertown for a while, unless they do something with the big beige eyesore next to The Beast. I would look to Coney Mall for the next major attraction. It's been the only area in the park that hasn't gotten a major draw of a ride in years. I don't count WindSeeker as a major attraction.

The Nail in the Coffin for Mystic Timbers Inversion Theory
teenageninja replied to WillH118's topic in Rumors
We have a ride that does inversions with lap bars currently. -
Sounds like they had a desire to understand how often their season pass holders were utilizing the rides. Why not have the data to understand what rides are being ridden the most? How about data to track employee performance? At KI, especially on the flat rides, you could track performance and tell which of your employees are stronger and weaker based on their cycle counts. In terms of training, training employees takes 5 seconds and two clickers. One clicker tracks riders, one clicker tracks cycles (if you even think you need that information). You record once per hour. In terms of refusal to do, then you start writing them up and fire them if they don't do it. It's part of their job, it's not difficult. It seems a little crazy to me that it's not being done.

Cedar Point changes its long-used logo
teenageninja replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It appears it has been changed to match the rest of Cedar Fair's parks. Corporate mumbo-jumbo. -
Why wouldn't you track it? It's not a time consuming task nor is it expensive to do so. I would think it would give you a lot of interesting data, at the minimum.

Yes you can. Just can't physically operate the ride. It depends on the ride. In GENERAL there is a level for someone who just checks restraints. Then the next level up is the individual who presses the dispatch button from the floor. Every coaster I've worked at KI has these buttons, not sure about Firehawk or the B&Ms. The next level beyond that is driving the ride. Above that is the person who performs the block tests in the morning. There are exceptions to this, such as FoF which has a separate position for the unload operator.
-
Possible, I think yes. Likely, I say no. That area is already fairly congested and adding another roller coaster back there I think would make it worse. When I was looking at it I noticed that google maps still has SoB in their aerial view.
-
The shed would not limit the capacity. They would never design a ride at KI around a theming element like that. Likely the idea of the Shed came up when they decided to run 3 trains without a MCBR. They are adding something to the ride instead of you sitting there waiting for the next train to dispatch.
-
The hydraulics are likely for the brakes. The water line is likely for the sprinkler system and a hose for cleaning.

There really wasn't much difference in the view of SOB, to be honest, you didn't miss much.
-
If you want to start working your way up, they'll try and push you a bit on the microphone, but if you aren't good at it, they won't have you do it, plain and simple.

I had been saying something like the Immersive Tunnel since the ride was announced. Construction looks to be going well, don't see any reason why this shouldn't be open on opening day.

I think you absolutely take it. It pays more than the Rides department and actually can be a fun job if you make the best of it. You can actually in the offseason apply to a different department, so it wouldn't be a promotion to rides necessarily. There are actually 3 different levels in Park Services prior to becoming a Supervisor. You start as a Sweep, then you have the option of being a Trucker (picking trash from garbage cans), and then Restrooms. Most of the time women skip the Trucker phase, since it requires a lot of heavy lifting.

I worked at Kings Island the following seasons: 2002 - Potato Works (End of season only) 2004 - Action Theatre 2005 - Backlot - Vortex/ Troika - Eurobungie 2008 - Park Services 2009 - Park Services 2010 - Park Services 2011 - Park Services Rides is a lot of fun. Obviously people who are returning make up a large amount of the ride crews. They are then filled in first come first serve basis. If you work hard and show up for your shifts, you'll start working your way up on the ride crews to the better positions, such as driving the coaster. I agree with the previous poster, start working as soon as you can and that will only help you get a job at KI.
