Sounds like they had a desire to understand how often their season pass holders were utilizing the rides. Why not have the data to understand what rides are being ridden the most? How about data to track employee performance? At KI, especially on the flat rides, you could track performance and tell which of your employees are stronger and weaker based on their cycle counts. In terms of training, training employees takes 5 seconds and two clickers. One clicker tracks riders, one clicker tracks cycles (if you even think you need that information). You record once per hour. In terms of refusal to do, then you start writing them up and fire them if they don't do it. It's part of their job, it's not difficult. It seems a little crazy to me that it's not being done.

Cedar Point changes its long-used logo
teenageninja replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It appears it has been changed to match the rest of Cedar Fair's parks. Corporate mumbo-jumbo. -
Why wouldn't you track it? It's not a time consuming task nor is it expensive to do so. I would think it would give you a lot of interesting data, at the minimum.

Yes you can. Just can't physically operate the ride. It depends on the ride. In GENERAL there is a level for someone who just checks restraints. Then the next level up is the individual who presses the dispatch button from the floor. Every coaster I've worked at KI has these buttons, not sure about Firehawk or the B&Ms. The next level beyond that is driving the ride. Above that is the person who performs the block tests in the morning. There are exceptions to this, such as FoF which has a separate position for the unload operator.

Possible, I think yes. Likely, I say no. That area is already fairly congested and adding another roller coaster back there I think would make it worse. When I was looking at it I noticed that google maps still has SoB in their aerial view.

The shed would not limit the capacity. They would never design a ride at KI around a theming element like that. Likely the idea of the Shed came up when they decided to run 3 trains without a MCBR. They are adding something to the ride instead of you sitting there waiting for the next train to dispatch.

The hydraulics are likely for the brakes. The water line is likely for the sprinkler system and a hose for cleaning.

There really wasn't much difference in the view of SOB, to be honest, you didn't miss much.

If you want to start working your way up, they'll try and push you a bit on the microphone, but if you aren't good at it, they won't have you do it, plain and simple.

I had been saying something like the Immersive Tunnel since the ride was announced. Construction looks to be going well, don't see any reason why this shouldn't be open on opening day.

I think you absolutely take it. It pays more than the Rides department and actually can be a fun job if you make the best of it. You can actually in the offseason apply to a different department, so it wouldn't be a promotion to rides necessarily. There are actually 3 different levels in Park Services prior to becoming a Supervisor. You start as a Sweep, then you have the option of being a Trucker (picking trash from garbage cans), and then Restrooms. Most of the time women skip the Trucker phase, since it requires a lot of heavy lifting.

I worked at Kings Island the following seasons: 2002 - Potato Works (End of season only) 2004 - Action Theatre 2005 - Backlot - Vortex/ Troika - Eurobungie 2008 - Park Services 2009 - Park Services 2010 - Park Services 2011 - Park Services Rides is a lot of fun. Obviously people who are returning make up a large amount of the ride crews. They are then filled in first come first serve basis. If you work hard and show up for your shifts, you'll start working your way up on the ride crews to the better positions, such as driving the coaster. I agree with the previous poster, start working as soon as you can and that will only help you get a job at KI.

Maybe that's what is in the shed! -
Christmas Nights of Lights Coming to Coney Island
teenageninja replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Drove by it the other night and from the highway it looked very cool and impressive. -
Top Gun was purchased by Taft's group and was originally going to be called Thunder Run or something along those lines. Paramount took the opportunity and changed it to be Top Gun, which was on one of their properties. Paramount bought a lot of cheaper rides that mostly panned out, however, most of them had pretty poor reliability and/or capacity. Let's be honest, Flight of Fear was a disaster and got a second life when they removed the OTSR.

They used to store a lot of the old HB costumes in the old Enchanted Theatre as well. I recall being in there one time and seeing a whole wall of the costumes.

If I remember correctly, Magnum at Cedar Point has a water fountain in the line. I assume it would be fairly inexpensive if they have plumbed in lines for the misting fans. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to get soda out of those machines, which doesn't help with hydration. Also, the cost is pretty high ($4.00 a bottle if I remember right).

Carowinds trades Action Theater and Southern Star to Cedar Point for their Antique Cars Kings Island trades Backlot Stunt Coaster to Carowinds in exchange for the original Flying Eagles and Antique Cars.

The top of the lift hill to the first drop is what collapse IIRC. The most amazing thing about Son of Beast to me, was that the lift hill provided absolutely no air, no drop in your gut. It really was a forceless ride. Not to mention how brutal it was.

What are Kings Islands Plans after Mystic Timbers?
teenageninja replied to louisvillecards1's topic in Coming Attractions
I'm sure a skyride COULD be installed, however, I don't think one would be. The skyride suffered a lot of issues and suffers from a lot of concerns, such as if a car gets stuck, the evacuation procedure is very difficult. -
Mean Streak Gets the Axe September 16th
teenageninja replied to JubJester's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Maybe it's years of being disappointed, but I feel like everyone on here is always looking at best case scenario. I would wager that Mean Streak will not reopen next year. They likely have a LOT of work to do, and the winters in Sandusky are much more brutal than they are here. -
The water does run off from the parking lot. You are correct, the water in the reservoir is used for WWC, it will be used again next season, which is why they replaced the pumps in the last offseason.

Cedar Point 2016 Talk
teenageninja replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There were railroad tracks in the photo. There is also a railroad track separating Mean Streak from the main midway. Does anyone think that the RMC conversion will be done this offseason? I would think they would announce that.
