  1. i just want to put it out there, that I am pretty terrified of the things seen at HH and HHN at Universal. I for one absolutely hate the stuff. I really feel for the child, he should have never been forced into something that he was truly that scared of. Now, allowing him to go into more moderate haunts first or work up his tolerance would have been the way to go. That is what my parents attempted to do with me.
  2. You have to do what you think is best for your company, and right now it seems like big or unique coasters are the thing to do. Actually, thats really not the trend taking place in the industry, the industry as a whole is more concerned with focusing on "family entertainment". The days of Bigger, Longer, Faster are on hiatus, although pure thrillseekers are keeping it alive, and the focus always changes. Just like technology, trends are quickly outdated, so we shall see!
  3. Chris, welcome! For the record you may want to consider enlisiting your friend in a witness protection program. Some of the members on here may very well look for that garage in Mt. Healthy! lol I wouldn't be suprised if two tubs are missing by monday Anyways as you can see, there are many people on this forum that share the same love of flyers that you do!
  4. You are basing you idea that people of California are nuts just on account of how one of your neighbors doesn't like what you have done with your garden? Tell me, now how in the world is that logical? I guess that your neighbor speaks for all the citizens of California? That sure is one powerful neighbor.
  5. DEBUNKED! I recently e-mailed Chris Clark the owner/adminsitrater of Flying Eagles Addicts. Here is Chris's e-mail that I received: So no, these eagles will not be at KI in 2008.
  6. WOW, so much for those guest surveys. How does profit go down 46%? That is unexcusable especially since they dont have any non-cash charges against the balance sheet like CF does.
  7. That was a superb article, Thanks for shairing once again! The writer does such a good job conveying everything that I personally adore about Dollywood. It is so much more than being about the thrill seekers paradise. Dollywood encases everything that should be at a perfect park; the food, the atmosphere, the ride selection, the cleanliness and Theming. Six Flags and Cedar Fair have a long way to catch up to ever be as good as the Busch Gardens parks or Dollywood, in my eyes. I couldn't care more about 200 ft. rollercoasters, but boy, does eating that apple pie slice while listening to James Rogers, or eating kettle corn while listening to Randy Parton sound amazing!
  8. That would be Schwarzkopf. And if it is Anton, I will be first in line. Miracles, you know. If it's his son, I'll wait for the first train of riders to get back before deciding if I will ride! Mind Bender at SFOG is still quite possibly the smoothest coaster I've ever ridden!
  9. I'm officially excited for the next few years at Kings Island.
  10. Actually I didn't forget about the loan they took out to cover their debts, I think that if they feel that strategy starting to go by the wayside then they will end distributions...or sell parks. As of now they havent done either which as I stated shows to me they are commited still to their strategy. I also understand the leash on their debt tightening considerably around their neck in the next succesive years. They could be feeling that anxiety now, or they may not. They probably are, but since they havent sold any parks that we know of, and havent ended the distribution, I have a positive outlook. I simply felt no need to inject more analysis of how the loan to cover debts, and other instances could bring down the strategy, I wished to prove that those would not matter judging by what I have seen so far, and thus omitted those details! In hindsight however I could have made my stance much more inclusive, and should have, so thank you for the learning experience!
  11. Actually,I feel this is GREAT news. They were doomed for scrap, this at least gives them a fighting chance. This isnt a cure, but sure is a treatment!
  12. Thats an interesting article. Personally, I do not give much creedence to the idea that 5% revenue growth is an alarming reason for concern. Yes its not a 25% increase, but its not a loss, it is a gain....a VERY small gain. Now, yes with Cedar Fair's dismantling of Geauga Lake, Accounting wise, I think I read that they lost over 20% net income for the quarter. I have always been of the belief that a win is a win, an ugly win is a win, and a blowout win is a win. So, like in football, "Just win baby!" In applying that to this situation, the bottom line is they didnt lose, in fact they gained. They increased Cap EX, are installing more rides across sound parks than they ever would. It is almost like they have a cap ex of 135 Million by recycling GL's rides. As the article above states, gains were minimal, but the strategies in place for now are working; softer attendance is creating better yields per guest via in-park spending. Also one thing that speaks VOLUMES to me, is that CF still hasn't decided to cut-off quarterly distributions, which by all accounts in standard business practice is what you do when you need to pay off debt fast, or finance ambitious growth plans. Why does this speak volumes? Simply put, they obviously strongly believe that what they have in place works, and the one thing above all else that you need to WIN is confidence. I am convinced CF has that confidence, and that investors and park goers will to!
  13. Calling the kettle, here kettle, Pot is calling you!
  14. Sorry Adam, but I am going to have to disagree with you here. I think the different color lights make the tower more attractive. During most of the summer you can see the tower in its normal greenish color for a majority of the day. Let the tower show off a bit in the night hours. The archects at Intamin did not intend for CP to do destroy the lighting effects on the tower. The tower is not green it is powder blue like the statue of liberty. I disagree with your opinion on the colored lights. You sir, are wrong, the Eiffel Tower is painted "Eiffel Green" which is a very distinct difference from "powder blue". Also the statue of Liberty's color is the effects of a chemical change occuring on the surface of the Copper used resulting in a green copper patina!
  15. Agreed^ LMAO All this talk about healthy ones, and splattering...wow I agree though it isnt just amusement park bathrooms that you can walk into and find a mud monkey propped up in a urinal, you can find that sort of disrespect anywhere.
  16. Haha, yes, "what is manure?" I can only imagine how much some people on here are giggling as that stuff comes steaming onto the forums And time for the old addage Interpreter...
  17. I think that we can attribute that 5% in-park guest per capita additional spending to two things... 1) companies picnicing at discount rates, having extra money to purchase outrageously priced food. -and- 2) Those tremendous sales all the parks from the former PP's had going on since mid-august and in some cases earlier I just hope management doesnt get the wrong idea of where that extra spending came from. It deffinately didnt come from traditional pricing across the parks, but rather end of the season last ditch attempts to unload merchandise. That's my theory anyways!
  18. That was quite an um, creative write-up Mr. 3000. Ryan, I feel you, lol
  19. You are right JZ, Worlds of Fun, ValleyFair!, and Kings Island are not discussed, so they could be the parks discussed in that one liner. However, the line could be just referring to the three parks listed under it, as if it were an Intro! Im holding out hope though that Kings Island is included in the one liner. EDIT: I edited the heck out of this post, I needed to reinterpret some details!
  20. Not even a mention of KI, not sure about that one.
  21. This doesn't exactly have anything to do with the basketball issue, but I was once hit with a "billiard" bouncy ball that was dropped off of Dropzone. You can ask Beast08 about that one, lol, I had a pregnant lady right next to me and we were both sitting on a bench just outside the ride. All of a sudden I here this whirring noise, and see this small black object coming down right in the middle of us. I stuck my hand up to catch it but it just came closer and closer, I decided rather than catch it that I would try to kick it as I jumped out of its path, anyways I got lucky and got a piece of it and it just hit me then bounced off the bench all the way back towards Festhaus. Those things hurt...
  22. Cory Butcher replied to Benny's topic in Kings Island
Benny is your shunt glass or rubber? Glass shunts are typically strictly prohibited from any contact activities by all doctors. If it is rubber, you may be ok, check with your doc!
  23. I've been searching all over, and have come up with a few of the songs played, but if anyone knows some for sure, please list them here! Thanks!
  24. Such a funny situation protecting something that as others have said are so numerous. I realize the whole everything has right to live type thing but seriously, isnt it our job to stomp on them so they dont take us over and terrorize us? I am part of PETA's distant cousin, People who Eating Tasty Animals...not sure a cockroach counts though, yuck.
  25. I've never lost anything at an amusement park. I wear my "coaster shorts"!
