  1. ^Wouldn't that be a better fit for this thread? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20482&st=160 And Tom, I could also see that happening before they add a trim. Trims on first drops are really tacky, and to me, it just screams "we didn't design this right..." I finally got around to watching a POV of I305 and WOW that lift is incredibly fast. That drop has to be insane. I'm guessing Cedar Fair is playing it by ear... if they get enough actual complaints about blacking out, I would expect them to do something. Otherwise I say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
  2. How could anyone possibly say that any of those phones in the box are theirs? Unless they personalized their phone with stickers or art or something, every phone in there is just a certain model. Just because you lost a black samsung flip phone at Kings Island doesn't mean it's the one in the box.. And now for a tangent... I lost my phone on Diamondback last season, but I reported it and got it back a few days later
  3. I agree. While pulling high g's can seem pretty cool, doing it repeatedly is certainly not healthy. I'm interested to see if they actually do add a trim.
  4. Glad to hear you had a great trip as well. It sounds like you enjoyed X2 as much as I did, haha. I'm anxiously awaiting the PTR now.

    Diamondback

Row 16. The first drop gives crazy airtime in the back, and it just continues after that. Not to mention you can stick your hand in the water on the splashdown
  6. That shirt just screams "Weekend at Bernie's" to me... so I'm voting we call him Bernie.
  7. Terpy is right. The day that I went, the park was only open from 10:30 to 7, so I had a small breakfast in the morning, ate one meal in the park, and then ate on the way back home after it closed. But there are plenty of options in the park where you can avoid eating meat. As terp said, there is always cheese pizza, and there are salad places too, I believe.
  8. I don't feel bad at all about it. Everyone has the opportunity to buy it, so they really can't complain. As for Knott's, I'm pretty sure Xcelerator is open from rehab, since they were working on it way back in January. I'm not sure about Ghostrider, as it was open when I went. It should be on the web site, though. I'm getting really jealous.. I wish I was going to SFMM in 3 days!
  9. Not a fan of the name, but it's certainly better than other names they've come up with in recent years. I'm curious as to what, if any, remodeling they'll do to the facade of the building, seeing as it's already in the theme of a haunted castle.
  10. Very interesting. I figured when Kings Island tried it, and then it phased out after only a few years, that concept was done with right then and there. It seems like both the start-up and operating costs for a helicopter ride are rather high.. but they must be justifying it somehow.
  11. Nice Trip report! Sounds like an awesome trip. I can't believe you made that entire trip in two days though.. That's a lot of travelling, haha. Intimidator looks really cool.. in terms of the layout I think I even like it better than Diamondback's. But good to hear that opening day went well for everyone. Out of curiosity, did they do a Single Rider line like they use on Diamondback?
  12. See my trip report here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20588&st=0&p=357221&fromsearch=1entry357221 I went in early January, and it was utterly FANTASTIC. The lines were really short all day (walk-ons on 90% of the rides). Obviously, I agree with you going to X2 first. It's kind of confusing to get to that coaster.. you have to walk under a walkway, only to go up and cross over that same walkway to get to it. But that ride is just incredible. Be sure to hit Revolution. The trains are a little uncomfortable, but if you can get past that it really is a fantastic coaster. I was expecting a few hills and the loop, but it's certainly much more than that. When I was at the park, the kid I rode on X2 in the morning told me to go straight to Tatsu after that because the lines build up quick, but the day I went, Tatsu was a walk-on all day. Make certain you ride it though. That is what a flyer should be. Breathtaking. Terminator is a really good experience as well, but it was also the longest wait of the day for me. Might want to plan accordingly. Other than that, I would try to just hit the rides in a decent order (don't cross the park numerous times), because the terrain is incredibly hilly. But the park really uses it to its advantage. I'm certainly planning on making it back there in the not too distant future. If you have any other random questions, feel free to ask. It's pretty fresh in my mind
  13. That's too bad for all parties involved. What irks me is that because of the monorail incident not too long ago, and the bus incident now, the press will likely try to shed a bad light on the safety of Disney's transportation, or maybe even amusement parks overall, despite them being two completely unrelated incidents.
  14. I'll be quite honest, I've never really noticed any bug problems at KI, other than when cicadas come out in full force. Although it could just be because the bugs at CP are so ridiculously bad, everything else I've seen is minimal in comparison.
  15. I think a lot of straight "flips" would be dizzying, but I dont think it would be as intense as the Tomb Raider cycle.. the parts where you're diving down upside-down, and then where it hung you upside down for a long duration, were what made it really intense for me. But that's just my opinion. And a late welcome to KIC, countess.
  16. This just makes me think of last year's CoasterMania. We rode MF at dusk and we tried to see how many bugs we could kill with our arms, so we held them literally straight up the entire ride. Of course we kept our mouths closed... don't need the extra protein . But after the ride we counted the damage and I had 23 bugs on my arms, and 1 right in the middle of my forehead haha. gross.
  17. I was right! Not trying to gloat, I promise. Just pointing out that I agree with the park's decision, and even last summer this was the logical choice in my mind.
  18. Those really are good photos. But Diamondback will never be better than MF
  19. Sorry if I'm being the "naysayer" here but this is ridiculous. No matter what they answer it's never good enough for some people. It seems like we should be grateful that they're even taking the time out of their days to do this every week. But maybe that's just me.
  20. I'm waiting for the styrofoam coasters to take shape..
  21. awesome. high five. Anyway.. I think the ride will open on time. I don't know if I'd call it a prototype, though. It's very similar to MF, so I'd like to think that they've learned plenty about the operation of giga coasters. Will it be operational all day opening day... I doubt it. But you never know.
  22. Pass processing was an easy decision for me this year... Go to Knott's Berry Farm in early January and your problem is solved!
  23. I like Mantis a lot actually. It can be a little rough, but after a few minutes I'm fine. And I like the track layout a lot. Nonetheless, this POV really brought back great memories. KC was my favorite ride at KI when it was open, and it still may be my favorite ride I've been on at the park. The airtime on the camelback after the loop was incredible. RIP KC
