  1. Just saw Hot Blooded last night for the first time. At first I thought it was just going to be a sing-a-long show with some rock hits. But I LOVED the special effects in it! Especially the blood And of course the eye candy doesn't hurt either... Good show.
  2. It was definitely below 50 degrees last night, and as far as I could tell most of the rides were still running. But there was virtually no one in the park.
  3. Looks like I'll be there tomorrow, at least in the evening for the Haunt. I'll most likely head up around 5 or 6 to get some riding in and such.
  4. That's the one I couldn't remember! Haha unbelievable.
  5. The Durga piece is really cool. Nice work.
  6. When I saw the topic title, I instantly thought of some shorts I saw at CP this year. They were really short shorts for girls, and they had writing on the backside. I saw three different pairs, but I can only remember two of them saying the following: 1. "Wild Ride" 2. "Get in Line" The third one was equally as provocative. Personally I thought it was hilarious. But that's probably because I don't have a daughter, haha. I would be ROYALLY ticked off if I had a daughter wearing shorts that said "get in line."
  7. This thread is getting ridiculous. In my opinion the park did a pretty good job getting the word out as best they could. Weather is something that's very difficult to predict with much accuracy, so they probably waited until they could say with good confidence that there was going to be significant rainfall that night. And I think that's the right move. Would you rather have them announce it the day before that they're not going to be open because of a "chance" of rain? Right now they're calling for rain next Friday. Should they close the park? Thursday was a lose-lose situation. Get over it. And I'm glad Snakepit said what needed to be said.
  8. I hope they never switch to lap bars a la FoF on Vortex. Those lap bars kill my legs, and that's only after I barely squeeze it over my knees. Vortex's restraints have been the same since 1989 (except the seatbelts) and they've yet to lose a passenger. As far as I'm concerened, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
  9. Not a bad article though. I can't remember even going to haunted houses as a child. I remember we had a small one in our grade school that I always went through. I guess I've never really been afraid of them.
  10. Oh how I miss the fog on Flight De-- Top Gun . And I also miss KCKC!
  11. I was at Halloweekends at CP this year, and I was right outside the building where they do the makeup for the monsters when they all came out to go to their respective haunts. That's one of my favorite parts, just seeing all the monsters' costumes in broad daylight. They really put a lot of work into the monsters up there as well as down here at KI, and in my opinion it really pays off.

    Which is more fun?

Not knowing the layout. The example that instantly comes to mind is The Voyage. I watched the teaser video before it opened many moons ago, but I never checked out the layout again. And two weekends ago I went to Holiday World, having no idea where the ride would take me. And wow. That first ride was just fantastic.
  13. As some of you know, my brother is a police officer at the park. And he is the officer whose nose was broken. I can give details to anyone who is curious. Probably best not to post here though. I really hope this guy sees jail time for this. My brother is okay now, in case anyone is wondering.
  14. Kind of... If you ask me it's no worse that MF's cable failure earlier this year. And everything is liable to break at some point in time. Obviously its never good when something breaks. But I wouldn't classify this as a catastrophic failure.
  15. I've never been to Holiwood Nights, but in any case I'll be going to Coaster Mania. That's a fantastic weekend at CP. The ride counts on Saturday this year were astronomical for me, and I can spend a full day at Cedar Point much easier than I can spend a full day at Holiday World. After about 3 laps on Gobbler Getaway, it gets a little old..
  16. OMG I NEEDZ TO KNOES ABOUT TEH HAUNT I SHOULD START TEH NEW TOPICKZ!11ONE http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=339654
  17. I'd love to do it, but I've already made my last trip north for the year. Good luck to all who sign up.

There are MANY topics about this already, including trip reports and thoughts on what people would change about the Haunt.
  19. Yes and no.. CP can not expand "outward," as many parks can. But they still have plenty of room to build rides. Anyone who thinks CP is running out of space is kidding themselves.
  20. If it were Kings Island in that situation, I have no doubt that would happen. But DK loves his park up north too much, and also doesn't care about that title enough, to do that, haha.
  21. Next year I'll have to nominate my back yard haunt. Hello, national publicity!
  22. ^There are bound to be people on both sides of the fence regarding SoB. Buckeye Brad didn't say that everyone shared that feeling. Just that there are people that would not buy into the ride being re-done. I think your guesses at the costs are a little off.. especially the removal. SoB is a massive structure. I'm guessing more like 4x that amount. As for your assumptions, the only ones I agree with are the last two. Apparently this needs to be said again, so I'll say it... again. There is no set timeline for a park to install a roller coaster! And if this year says anything, it's that Cedar Fair is NOT afraid to spend money on new investments. Finally, the paying guests won't "boycott" Kings Island if they take out SoB and leave the land unused. Most of the park's guests go for a fun day at the amusement park, in general. They've been operating most of this year without SoB running, and they've been doing just fine. Also, something "equally epic," as you put it, might be a bad thing. To me, that implies we'd be getting another ride that will lead to many injuries and lawsuits, sit SBNO for more time that it operates, and be an incredibly large investment that will essentially go to waste. I hope this doesn't come off as too negative. Not trying to rip apart your post. I just personally don't agree.
  23. Interesting how he quickly brings up the ride's name as the reason he didn't like it, rather than the ride itself. Of course the person writing this blog may have left some out.. but still.

    ONE RIDE

Nemesis or Alpengeist. I like the B&M Invert too.. It's definitely something the park is lacking if you ask me.
  25. Okay, here we go. I've got a few ideas... 1. Move Trail of Terror from X-Base to Rivertown. The trail would go back around The Beast and then return along the Diamondback course, exiting through The Crypt's exit. And load it with fog, thus providing a fun haunt, and phenomenal rides on both Beast and DBack with the fog. 2) Take the chain-link fences out of Death Row's building and use them to create additional path out the rear of the building. Then build an entirely new haunt utilizing both the inside of the building and the newly-created path on the back. Themed to zombies a la "28 Days Later." 3) Remove The Cemetery completely, and just use that area as a general fright zone, similar to Cedar Point's Frontier Trail.
