^And god forbid if anyone calls Invertigo "The Invertigo..."

^I kind of agree about Steel Hawg. I enjoyed it, but it's not something I'll go there to ride. However I really enjoyed LoCoSuMo haha. Those turns are just ridiculous.

So this past weekend, I was going on a canoe trip in Illinois. But then I realized that it was only an hour west of Indiana Beach. Seeing as I'd never been there, I decided to go early on Friday and hit Indiana Beach for the day before going to my friend's house in Illinois. Well lo and behold, I ended up having to do a telephone interview for a job on Friday morning at 11:00, so instead of getting out of here at 9 as planned, I didn't get to leave until 12:15. This was not a good start to the day. Especially considering the park closed at 6:00 on Friday. I got to the gate at about 3:10, and bought the "Pay one Price" ticket, which basically allows you to ride as much as you want (half-price with coasterbuzz club membership!). Right when you get to the park, Steel Hawg just dominates the landscape. In fact it's about all you can see, really. So I walked to Steel Hawg to find... Two people in line! I walked right on! It's an interesting ride, no doubt. But it's hard to judge it as a whole. The ride is almost split into five or 6 individual elements. The 95 degree drop is great, and the upward twisting hill is a little rough after that. I love the reverse-banked turn. The two inversions are fantastic though... the heartline roll that leaves you upside-down for about 30 feet, and then the barrel roll going down the hill. It's a fun ride, but it's not in my top 10. After that I headed back into the park. It's kind of hard to find ride entrances on your first walk around the park. Both wooden coasters' stations are well above the midway, so you have to take stairways to get up to them. I stumbled upon the entrance to the Hoosier Hurricane and got in line. Another walk-on. This one was pretty rough on my first ride. I rode 2nd to the back, and I wasn't prepared for the quick turns in some spots. Overall it was pretty fun though. I love the dives down onto the lake. Then I found Cornball Express. There were 4 people on my entire train for my first ride. Wow, this thing is great. The first drop is a 90-degree spinning drop, and I was caught completely off guard. After that it's a lot of turning and flying over hill tops. You get a ton of airtime in the back. It's one of the better wooden coasters I've been on. Another thing I thought was funny were the buzz bars they still use! I forgot how silly these things were until Hoosier Hurricane (2nd time), when some people had to wait a ride because they couldnt get the buzz bar to go down for that row. Next, on to a hidden gem in my opinion... Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. This was the only ride I waited for all day, because it was running 1 train that held 8 people haha. It has an elevator lift that takes you to the top. Then after that, it's ridiculously sharp turns through a mountain theme, and a really fast double-dip. It's like a kiddie coaster on steroids. Sadly it went down mechanical shortly after my first ride so I only got one lap on it. The other two coasters, Galaxi and Tig'rr are both similar to Wildcat at CP in my mind. However Galaxi has two cars per train, and Tig'rr has sled-type trains. Now on to the flats... Double Drop is my least favorite S&S Launch/Drop ride. Unlike Power Tower, where you launch to the top, decelerate, and get some nice floater air at the top, Double Drop launches you to the top, INSTANTLY stops so you get your shoulders slammed into the otsr's, and then you go back down only to do it again immediately after. One ride was more than enough. Last ride review: Den of Lost Thieves. I was super excited to see that they had a dark ride. The theming is a little dated, and there's not massive amounts of it. But it's still a really good dark ride. I personally don't like the addition of the laser guns. It only distracts me from enjoying the theming. So I took one trip shooting the laser, and the next one I just sat back. Very good dark ride. Overall, I really enjoyed my day at Indiana Beach. I was only there for 2 hours and 50 minutes, but I easily got multiple rides on everything. 8 rides on Steel Hawg, 6 on Cornball Express, 3 on Hoosier Hurricane, and multiples on some flats. It's a nice park, but very crowded in terms of the structures. The wooden coasters are basically on top of each other. Sadly, Air Crow was not running on Friday. I was dying to get a ride on a flyer, but alas, no such luck. I'll almost certainly be visiting this park again in the future.

^Wow, that's rough. KC is still one of my favorite rides to ever grace Kings Island.

A sign of things to come, in my mind. The only question is when.

I don't know.. I think the quick transitions will be pretty fun, as will some of the smaller airtime hills. And obviously the first drop is going to be killer. But I love MF's layout because of the great views you get on the camelbacks going to and from the island. Not to mention the airtime hill and overbank after the 2nd tunnel. Nonetheless I think it'll be a great addition to KD, a park that quietly (IMO) has a great collection of coasters. -
How are they "not remotely close"? They're made by different people? They look alike. They feel alike. They are both smooth. They're both tall. They both have helix's at the end. 'Nuff said. Right... How do they look alike? They're different colors, different track styles, different support styles, VERY different track layouts, and very different train styles. Millie doesn't have a helix at the end. And they feel alike? Every coaster I've been on feels like a coaster... So what's left... they're tall and smooth. So that means Diamondback and Superman: The Escape at SFMM are the same too, right? And Wicked Twister.

Wow, really good catch. It does look pretty similar. Even the last turn into the final brake run. -

Can't agree with you more. A good example of that around here is the high-speed train they're proposing going from Cincinnati to Cleveland. But some residents don't want it because of the noise on the railroad tracks. But the tracks (and station) have been there for years! If you don't want to deal with the noise of a train, don't move next to railroad tracks. -
I'll be the first to admit I made the "drinking poison" one. But while I admit it was pretty immature, I felt that a line had to be drawn somewhere. People were constantly complaining about too many polls, even IN the polls, but they kept showing up, almost daily. McSalsa I've got nothing against you. If you want to post polls, have at it. But it's frustrating when you view new posts and there are 15 different polls about the same rides.

7-1 every time. So much airtime on the first drop.

If that's true, it will be amazing! I believe this just may have some truth to it as Screamscape has said there was a job listing where the applicant must be willing to climb 350 ft. As for the speed MF goes 93mph, does 50 ft. really add 10mph to a coasters speed? I've heard MF really goes a lot faster than that in reality, especially when the track is warm. And I would say that's a reasonable estimate. MF is "93" mph with a 300' drop.. Dragster goes 120 mph with a 400' drop. So that speed and height seem to somewhat correllate. -
Yeah I read those about 10 years ago when I was the right age to be reading R.L. Stine. I've heard some pretty spooky stories from the park, but again just stories. I'd love to see Ghost Hunters or someone have a go at it though

Yeah he's right. I went to Chicago twice this summer and both times the traffic was AWFUL at that construction on 65. The 2nd time, it added a full hour onto my trip time. I recommend taking 74 all the way into Illinois, and going north on 57. As for the park... It's incredibly expensive. Parking is $15/car, and the food is outrageous (expected amusement park prices). Rides to hit: Viper. A really great woodie in my opinion. Raging Bull: So you can see what it's like to be bored on a hyper coaster. Condor! It's one of my favorite flats. Imagine Shake, Rattle, & Roll without the tilting arms, but raise it about 80 feet. Demon: A nice Arrow looper. Vertical Velocity (V^2): Very fun shuttle coaster. Iron Wolf: There are some rides that are notorious for the pain, but for some reason I love them. This is one. Batman: What can I say, just a great inverted coaster with a ton of speed.

^Exactly the point. Sure, this thread is immature. And I'm sorry I resorted to it. But quite honestly it's pretty bad when half the "new topics" all say coaster battle.
-
You're right. This is very immature. Not like the Diamondback vs. Little Bill's Giggle Coaster thread. Or the SoB vs. FoC thread. Or the other 5 billion polls.

I know my answer...

And tearing it down wouldn't really do anything for them, other than end the questions about if/when it will re-open.

I like sitting in the very "front" seat, so you get pulled up backward first and you're looking straight at the ground. Great view

I enjoy Invertigo, but I can't stand waiting for it. The line is almost always over a half hour, and I won't wait for it if the line is past the awning under the loop. Obviously I haven't ridden it too much this year edit: 900th post!

I've been on FD at CGA, back when it was still Top Gun. It was a pretty good invert, but nowhere near the likes of Raptor or Alpengeist. Nonetheless still a pretty fun ride. I don't expect very much next season.. A lot of rumors have been flying about removing rides (The Crypt, Flight Deck, SoB obviously). I personally don't think it'll happen, but I've been wrong before. I would, however, love to see a big flat added to the park (looking at you, Skyhawk!).
-
This is posted in another topic, but I thought I would post it here, since it seems pertinent in this subject. I have to raise my eyebrows at that, especially after the SoB threads. Again, forgive me if I'm crossing lines.

I've been to the park about 9 times throughout the year, and every time I've gone, the rides have been operating as scheduled. With some exceptions...
