  1. Does anyone know if a local news station is going to stream video of the walk at all? EDIT: WLWT streamed video of the walk, although through a camera he really just looked like a black dot. Nonetheless he made it! Congrats to Mr. Wallenda on a great feat.
  2. Yeah that might have to go in my signature or something. Thanks terp!
  3. ^zing! nice. Blue Streak is sneaky... it's not as high as The Racer, but that thing packs a good punch. Almost every hill gives solid airtime. Not to mention the turnaround, where you feel like you're going to jump the track and fall into the parking lot. And then there's that tiny hill right after the turnaround. I swear that thing is about 15 feet high. It's an all-around great ride that is overshadowed by mammoth coasters, but is still one of the premier rides at that park, in my opinion.
  4. ^Yes, because being a roller coaster tycoon fanatic makes you an expert on the subject... And 70 mph is much better than 78 mph... Oh and let's definitely bring back the loop, the entire reason the ride was re-done in the first place... *sigh* Forgive me if I'm crossing lines. But personally I think one of two things will happen. Those being the following: 1) Cedar Fair will deem SoB safe enough, and profitable enough, to operate as it is, and will open it back up sometime next season. 2) Cedar Fair will deem SoB unfit to re-open, and will keep it SBNO for at least a full season (all of next year) before removing it. Please note this is all speculation and none of this is fact.
  5. McSalsa, you must really get enjoyment out of creating these polls.
  6. My best day at a park was probably CoasterMania saturday at Cedar Point this year. With the extended hours, my friend and I got a total of 55 rides in one day up there. Not to mention the Raptor re-rides we got in late at night, and we were even evacuated from it as the 2nd last train of the night!
  7. With the amount of information on that site, it's pretty difficult to update everything. If parks made big announcements about the changes in ride capacity, I'm sure they would be more prone to update that information. As it is, it would be extremely difficult to maintain every detail about every ride.
  8. I voted for none of them. I think the closest thing they have to a "landmark" is the Eiffel Tower, or the Grand Carousel. Diamondback is a good ride, but there are several similar rides around the country/world. If they name that a landmark, they'd be hard-pressed not to name all of the others landmarks.
  9. Blue Streak ftw. 2nd last seat on the train... amazing.
  10. You also have to consider that Kings Dominion is open LONG before Cedar Point is open. However, I still don't think they'll have too many problems getting this thing up and running by opening day. One week till the announcement
  11. This seems to be happening a lot lately... A ride gets shut down due to an injury or death, and people are getting upset about the discussion thereafter. However in SOB's case, the threads were all closed because people were doing exactly what you're talking about, Firehawk Fanatic. They were saying it was unsafe, calling for it to be burned down, etc. However this thread is straight to the point. No one is saying Firehawk is unsafe. On the contrary, people are talking about how they feel more safe on FH than other rides at the park!
  12. Thank you Cedar Pointer, I've been saying that since it closed in June. I bet it's SBNO until the end of next season.
  13. ^Wow, good insight there, Coaster Kid. Yet another worthless post. As for flyers, I really want to ride Tatsu. But I've been on FH and S:UF at SFGAm, and I like Firehawk better. The pretzel loop is pretty much the only good part of Superman. After that it's just boring in my opinion. And I don't like how you're in the "laying-down" position on the lift. If that thing broke down for a long period of time, that would be pretty uncomfortable.
  14. I was thinking the same thing, Terp. Slingshot is fun, but I like Skyflyer better. Hanging at the top looking straight down is just bliss. And then that instant of complete free-fall when you pull the cord. Awesome.
  15. ^^I could see that happening... can't say from experience, but I don't doubt it.
  16. ^^Wow, really? Nice punctuation, grammar, AND spelling. Please, please, please put some thought into it. And Jasper, I agree with you about the restraints. A lot of people say they feel unsafe on it, but I feel more restrained in that than I do on several of the rides at KI. The flexible straps are great. They fit directly to the rider's size, and I think they're quite comfortable as well. Especially considering the amount of g's you pull on FH.
  17. I can't say I've ever been to a pride day, and I'm probably not going this year. But I have friends who live in Toledo, and the only day they go to Cedar Point every year is Father's Day, which is the unofficial "gay day" at CP. The crowds are always very light and they say its a ton of fun. Good luck with the event, I hope it goes well. And as for that^^^^, some things will never change...
  18. Is there anything to be gained by the park explicitly saying that it is or is not going to re-open this season? For now it's closed indefinitely. Anyone going to the park should just assume that it's going to be closed the day they're going. And if they do decide to re-open it I'm sure they'll let everyone know.
  19. Well said, Rail Rider. I hope something comes out of this, whether it be a lesson learned by just a few newer members, or even if someone really thinks about their post before just writing junk. Any step in the right direction is a plus.
  20. Why is this so important to everyone? Every time someone puts a "the" in front of a ride (where it shouldn't be), it's like the apocolypse. Get over it. As for Firehawk, I'm not surprised to see it back open so soon. Based on the stories I've heard through the press, the ride was not at fault at all, so there's really no reason to keep it closed. Of course don't let me come off as the unsympathetic jerk.. I wish the family the best and am very sorry for the loss.
  21. if it were factory error, there's a very good chance the pieces would not still be on site.
