Vortex doesn't have a pretzel loop either... It has two loops, Double Corkscrew, and a Batwing/Boomerang. Whoops. They used to refer to the Batwing as a pretzel loop due to its resemblance from a side view. I guess that died quickly when flying coasters came about and there was a better use for that term.

can I change my vote to Skylab?! May that disfunctional circular heap rest in peace.

New Balance running shoes. So comfortable. And my adidas sandals in case i go to BB

I think Vortex is a very good ride. Not "phenomenal" but very good. And if you sit in the right seats it's not painful at all. SoB, however... there's a better chance of finding me on the surface of the moon than on that ride.

^really, terpy? your pun-producing machine is on overdrive. I voted for height and airtime. Of course I'm biased due to my unfaltering love for millie (looking at you, angie).

^Vortex doesn't have a cobra roll. Rather, a pretzel loop. This was a tough call. For me it's either FoF's corkscrew, because that caught me completely off guard the first time I rode it and I absolutely love it to this day, or KC's loop. I ended up going with King Cobra just because I want it back.

Hooray! I think CP really handled this well. It sounds like they were working on this a LOT this weekend to get this issue resolved as fast as possible. Most likely they really wanted it running as soon as possible obviously, but getting it up for Coaster Mania might have been a priority too.

Happy 5 years, Jo! I was at the park for a few hours, spent 3 hrs in the waterpark with very short lines. But around 2:00 it started to get a little busier, but not crowded. Then I went over for 3 rides on Diamondback. It was no more than a 15 or 20 minute wait the whole time, and they were only opening the SRL for sporadic periods of time. It was nice the first time, because I was there right when they opened it and I got a 1-train wait for it. But other than that it was just as fast to wait in the normal queue. I met Angie (gigacoaster2k) as well, and we got the very back seat on my last (25th!) ride of the day. Good day at the park Oh, and Jo, for a good ride on Vortex, sit in 7-1.. 2nd last seat. It's not very bumpy at all and you get some wicked airtime on the first drop.

X2 El Toro Voyage Nemesis Superman Ride of Steel at SFNE

^^That's just it, though. KI has no experience with a single rider line. I talked to an area supervisor on opening day, and he told us that this is a completely new thing to them and even went as far to ask us if we had any suggestions. Could it be improved? Yes. But I think it's a great first attempt at a single rider line.

It's a bad idea in general. If any rides are worth salvaging, they should just sell them off to a different park. Otherwise scrap it.

Not sure why MS is something to "LOL" about, but hey, more props to you. I really hope they don't sub Mantis in for Millie. I'd rather just have more time on Maverick, Magnum, or TTD.
-
Yeah that really stinks about the line jumping. But at the same time, one extra person might make you wait one more train at most. Of course the other annoyances probably had you in a bad state of mind. I hope this doesn't make you think KI is a bad park. Almost all parks have similar stuff going on every day.

Truth. :'( Get well soon Millie

So now that I live in Cincinnati again, I can make quick trips to the park at last! I went up from 9:30 to noon this morning, and had an AMAZING time! The park was dead . I started off with Diamondback ERT. I had 7 laps in by the time the general public got there, and then I rode it once more. I'm noticing that more people are catching on to the SRL. Then for the next few hours I just headed around the park, hitting everything I wanted. The only ride I actually had to wait for was Firehawk, which reminded me why I hate that thing so much. There might have been 150 people in that line, but it took about 25 minutes to get through the line and ride it. Dispatch intervals are atrocious. Ride count: Diamondback: 8 Beast: 1 BLSC: 1 Vortex: 1 FoF: 1 Firehawk: 1 Racer: 1 AE: 1 Drop Tower: 1 Invertigo: 1

^Rumored? That ride has been for sale for a long time, they just can't find a buyer. A few issues I have with Jasper's list... Chaos is a must for me, too. One of the craziest flats I've ever ridden. I think your Power Tower launches are backward... down is way better. maXair is a must. Absolutely dominates Delirium. And I'd add Sky Ride to the "just missed must"

I've been to Kings Island and Kings Dominion, and I think KI is a much better park. Kings Dominion is a concrete paradise with random theming around the park that just doesn't seem to fit.

Beech Bend Debuts Real 'Thriller' Of A Ride
Dvo replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wow. Puns all over the place today. That being said, when I'm on a pirate ship the last thing I want to hear is Michael Jackson. There's not much that can beat the back and forth screaming as the ship goes from side to side. Except maybe the "Less Filling," "Great Taste" banter, for those of you who remember it Dvo, who has seen more than his share of rides on Viking Fury -
I voted for Black. I think it would look pretty sweet to be really dark, hiding back in the woods by itself. It's like the disfigured sibling in horror movies that gets locked in the closet...
-
If the SRL was separated from the main queue, I think it would be perfect. There wouldn't be line jumping and as long as the single riders are put wherever they are needed, I think it's fine.

I love the addition of extreme sports. Two of my favorite things to see/do in the same place. Sadly I won't be able to make it. If Bob Burnquist or Sandro Diaz were there I'd try a lot harder though!

^The massive pain is one thing, but capacity is the real problem. Mantis at CP only operates 2 trains and they stack every time. It takes way too long to get everyone standing up correctly and then check their restraints.

The Beast, hands down. And yes, Son of Beast "CAN do this" but it also hurts like he** while it's doing it . The Beast is tried and true, and will go down in history as one of the all-time greats.

Finally got around to reading. Nice TR angie, and nice hanging out with you Saturday morning. That was a hectic day, and the two days that followed were just as bad. Both days were mechanical nightmares up there, and Monday was just a madhouse from the stupid math & science kids. But I managed to get 8 laps in on MF (well short of my goal of 20 ). Magnum was the highlight of the weekend though. Those trimless rides were utterly amazing.

I have to say, while Diamondback is fun, I like Magnum better. Those airtime hills are just insane. Nice work, Mr. Toomer.
