  1. No need to go THAT far. Especially now that you're a DBack fangirl... traitor! So let me rephrase: "And we could even have a section to see when DVO is going to be on HIS beloved Millie at the Point."
  2. I won't be participating, but I'm still excited for this. As for ideas, I'm not sure. I think something highlighting the rides would be nice... but who knows.
  3. Nice TR Rex! It was nice meeting you in the morning. I was the really tall guy
  4. Exactly. I'm sure state and federal laws require a back-up restraining mechanism in case the first mechanism fails. In the case of Racer, if the lap bar fails, the safety belt will still hold you in. On Diamondback, I'm sure there is both a programmed restraining mechanism, as well as an emergency back-up for those lap bars.
  5. HEY! no stealing my ideas! Although if you do, at least get pictures That would be hilarious.
  6. If I ever become "Single Rider Dvo," I'm wearing a bandit mask and a cape for sure.
  7. ^^Um, I'll go ahead and say he's pretty old. But he still runs around the queue at MF. Last year there was an article about him. He got 1,000 rides last season alone, and in one day got over 80 rides. I've ridden with him a few times and I say hi when I see him. But his crazy hat has got to go...
  8. Angie you traitor! Might as well change your name to "b&mhyper2k9". But that's okay with me. One less rider on Millie MF ftw.
  9. ^No worries! I hope I didn't come off as saying that those people were holding up the line and they should just get out. I'm glad they're putting forth the effort to get as many people to ride as possible.

    Dvo's Opening Day

^Gah! I'm jealous! And yes, if the line overflows onto the midway you have to wait until you get up to the sign. Then you can enter the single rider line.
  11. I managed to get on it yesterday. I forgot to include it in my TR. I hadn't been on it since they re-made it from TR into The Crypt, so I was excited. Overall, I really liked it actually. I especially liked the theming in the two waiting areas. The ride program is plenty crazy, and overall it had a pretty dark, creepy feel to it. Although it leaves a lot to the imagination I guess. There's not much to look at in the ride room any more. That's the only thing I think they can improve on. Otherwise I really enjoyed it. Spooky stuff is always fun
  12. Yesterday I heard a few good ones. A guy talking about Diamondback said "The hill actually went under itself!" I seriously wonder what these people are seeing when they're standing near the hill. And then in line for Vortex... "We have to sit in the back cause it's the fastest!" Seriously? It moves faster than the rest of the train that's pulling it, thus passing it? *smacking forehead*
  13. I was there with you pkiruler. It was quite unfortunate really. The attendant was out of Single Rider passes so we had to loop around until they got more. If not for that, you probably could have had a 3rd. At least you got to ride near the back, though!
  14. The only slow-down the crew had all day was the slightly oversized riders that had some difficulties locking their restraint. The crew really tried hard to get everyone on, but it's time consuming. Other than that, DBack is a capacity monster.
  15. ^^And most of the 25 minutes was spent waiting to get to the entrance to the single rider line. A few times when I got in, the line was either empty or only had 1 or 2 people in it, which is essentially almost a walk-on. I agree with the "tweaking." They need an efficient way to get the cards back from the station down to the entrance sign. And also, Tigellinus said a family had 3 single rider passes each... I'm really wondering how this could have happened. When you enter the line there is an attendant that hands you one pass. The only explanation I can think of is if the people were using the single rider pass to get far down into the queue, and then line jumping with them. That way they could keep the passes and ride together. If that's the case I hope they were eventually caught.
  16. Brace yourselves, this could get long. So I started my day getting to the park at 6:45 to register for the auction. I was also very glad to see some of my friends from PointBuzz at the park as well. Let me tell you, this thing could have been organized a lot better. So I wait about 20 minutes in a line at the group sales booth to register. Then I finally get in the gate, to find the auction winners waiting to be taken back to rivertown.. Never understood why they made us wait here. After about 10 more minutes we headed back to Rivertown Junction (formerly Wings), to (guess what...) WAIT in another line. And in this one, we had to write down all of our information yet again, and we made our payments inside, followed by an issuing of tee shirts with rider number stickers. My whole problem with this is that we essentially had to "register" our auction bid three different times. Once outside the park gate, once to pay them, and then again to get our tee shirt. It seems like they could have done this in one shot. The line would move slower, but I think the overall time would be dramatically down. At least they got smarter when it came to ordering the riders. They just took groups of 50 and had everyone order themselves. So at about 8:40 I finally got my first ride on Dback. I was in car 4, row 2. I must say, the initial ride did not really impress me. The coaster was still warming up, so it was kind of creeping over the camelbacks, leading to no air time. Then after all that, I got off to get my free picture, which took about 20 more minutes. And by then the gold pass ERT folks had gotten back there, so the line was PACKED. Ugh. But fear not, more Dback to come later. After that, a small group of us (Jackson and his mom, Giga, Violakat, Rex, and a few others) and I went over and hit The Beast. We were able to get on in only about 5 minutes, but when we got off that line had backed way up too. So we then headed over to coney mall for the 10 am opening of everything. A few of us were waiting for FoF, but it was down for maintenance so we ended up going to Racer. Great ride, short wait. Then we hit Adventure Express. Again great ride, short wait. After AE, we decided to split up and go our separate ways, as a few of us were meeting other people. I met up with my Uncle and we did Racer again, then we walked around through Nick U and rode Avatar (the ride, you sickos, and also a guilty pleasure). After that we headed back to The Beast again because he hadn't ridden it with me in the morning. Unfortunately this time it was about a 75-minute wait. Ouch. I don't think I've ever seen all those turnstiles open. But there's a first time for everything I guess. A few hours later with my Uncle, and he too had to go home. We went to the top of the Eiffel Tower and a few other small things. Once my Uncle left, I was able to bring out my real thrill seeker. I headed straight for Drop Tower. I was excited to see that the wait was only about 30 mins. DBack really pulls the crowd over to Rivertown area. So I got on Drop Tower, one of my fav rides there, and then hit Invertigo. Pretty long line, but fun. So, after hitting up mostly everything I wanted to ride in the park (other than FoF and Firehawk, because those were VERY long lines...), I sat and ate some dinner before heading back over to Dback. I got in the line, that was a full queue, and then stretched back into Nick Universe. I was afraid this might take me about 2.5 hours to get through. Boy was I wrong! That line really moves. I was incredibly impressed with the Dback crew yesterday. I didn't see it go down all day, and they were really cranking out trains. It only took me about 50 minutes to get through that entire line... but along the way I found out a hidden gem via my friends from PointBuzz.. The single rider line! That is such a fantastic addition. We were able to get a ton of rides in using that last night, including the very last train of the night! The evening rides were incredible as opposed to my morning ride. The coaster had warmed up and was flying over the hilltops. The back is definitely the best. I still didn't get lucky enough to get the very back seat, but I rode in the 2nd last row, and WOW! Tons of air. All in all, I got 8 Dback rides, four times what I had planned on getting. Again, a major compliment to the DBack crew. We got to talk to the area superviser at DBack, Brian, and he was a fantastic person. He was very open to just talking to us about everything, especially the addition of the Single Rider line. He even asked us for suggestions on how to do it better! But in all honesty I think they did as good a job yesterday as they could have. Fantastic weather, fantastic rides, and a fantastic day. Hoping to come back later this year
  17. Great ride. I was able to get on the last train of the night. It's so cool how they don't light up the area in the back section of the track. Pitch black! I agree that the ride does give very different rides depending on the seat. My first ride from the auction was in seat 4, and to be quite honest I wasn't impressed at all. It seemed pretty slow in the morning, and I didn't get much air at all. However I went back later in the evening after it had warmed up all day, and riding in the back gave some AMAZING air time. Row 14 (car 7, row 2) is an awesome seat, but I gotta say the back is the best
  18. I saw gigacoaster2k, Beast1979 (Jackson), Avatar, pkiruler, violakat, cory butcher, and a few others.
  19. I certainly hope so, considering I have to be at the park no later than 7:00 to check in for the auction.........
  20. King Cobra! I remember trying for a few years, hoping I was tall enough to ride, then one season I was finally tall enough. Still one of my all time favorite coasters.
  21. ^^I feel sorry for the private event as well, but to be honest I don't think the park should have even let them rent out the park that day. I think the opening weekend should be a public-only weekend. A lot of people travel a good amount of distance to go for opening day, and many of them would go to the park for a second day to make the trip worthwhile. But now they don't have that option. Oh well. I was hoping the weather reporters would call for showers on saturday, and then none would show That would be ideal.
  22. In the next five years... let's see. I'd like to see the Eagles returned home and the Dodgems sped up. Is it me or are the dodgems INCREDIBLY slow now? Even if you run into someone head-on it's just a small tap any more. Dodgem should be called "Slowly make way around 'em." Pretty weak. Of course I don't see either of these happening, but this isn't what you "think" will happen, just what you "want," right?
  23. Depends. I'm job searching now, but if I find something in the area, I anticipate a LOT of trips.
