Or go on opening weekend. Opening day was a bit crowded this year, but Sunday and Monday were DEAD! I got 21 MF laps (18 of those in the 2nd and 3rd days) in one weekend. I was walking on every ride except maverick on the Monday. Also got 2 TTD rollbacks, and the 1st train of the year

Ahh I see. Sorry.. I saw the pictures of the CoasterDynamix model before I saw the train rendering. I'm a fan of the 4-across seats, personally. But who knows, maybe this will be a big hit. No matter what I think it's going to be a fantastic coaster. And I love how they're marketing it to be so scary!

This looks like it could be one of B&M's best hypers. I hope there's some serious airtime on those hills. And I'm glad they used the 4-across trains rather than the Behemoth-style trains. Can't wait for next year! Also.. anyone notice how the webcam link on the coaster's page shows a cycle of different web cam shots? Why don't they just have multiple links so you can look at whichever one you want (see CP's web site).

^indeed. I was just up there saturday and yesterday myself and they really did do a great job with the theming for Maverick. At least for CF standards. Disney, on the other hand... Well you know. If only they had waited to take KCKC out, they could have re-used the station like CP did with Maverick!

So this is kind of late, but I figure late is better than never. I was in town for saturday and sunday last weekend, and against my better judgement I went on Saturday. The traffic getting there was hilarious. I saw a line of cars for the exit JUST north of the I-71/I-275 interchange, and I was immediately scared. That's a LOT of cars. But they were all in the right lane. So I cruised in the 2nd lane, and to my surprise, I got right off the exit with no problems. Then there was another line forming at the exit. So there were two enormous lines of cars for the gate... but of course there are THREE lanes that enter, so I again cruised right past it all and got into the lot in about 5 minutes I'm positive people were waiting 45 minutes just to get into the parking lot haha. Anyway, I got into the park and my friend and I went back to Coney Mall and hit The Racer. I thought it was funny how a lot more people still get in line for the (previously) backwards side. Granted it was still a walk-on. Nonetheless still a fun ride. Then we went to Flight of Fear, and waited about 20 minutes for it. My friend had never been to KI before so he really enjoyed how much stuff was in that little building. Then we went to Vortex and waited about 20 minutes again, and got in my favorite seat (7-1). Gotta love the airtime on the first drop After Vortex we headed over to The Beast and walked right on it. I'm guessing BB was PACKED due to the heat, because the lines really weren't bad on the ride side! After a pretty good ride on The Beast we went on top of the Eiffel Tower, then hit Viking Fury, Adventure Express, and Vortex one more time. We got all of that accomplished by 2:00 and then left the park. On a bad note, I noticed several people smoking cigarettes in the lines. I haven't been to KI in a while, so I'm not sure about the smoking policy now, but I don't think they ever let you smoke in line. That was a big turn-off. All in all, it was a great day for only going for 3 hours. Glad to see the home park again. Hopefully I'll make it back for HH

Woman Claiming Broken Tailbone; Sues SFKK
Dvo replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This happened last summer? What took so long? It's going to be pretty tough to prove that she got the injury from the ride. And while I can understand that she's getting the same attorney as the poor girl, I REALLY hope she's not just trying to make a buck off that girl's horrible accident. -
Six Flags Great America Discount tickets?
Dvo replied to DropZone99's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Last year they had a deal for $20 off for bringing a Coke can. I thought I heard ads about that again this year, but I could be wrong. -
^Not with the stockpile of trim brakes that's coming with it! -Dvo, running for cover.

Darn I was hoping that after 3 pages of this thread someone would have pics. I guess I'll just have to wait longer. And while we're on CF's love with red track... I just wish it was Intamin

Deliverance! ...

^haha good one. Based on the Raging Bull experience, I wouldn't be surprised... However that's not saying B&M can't make good hypers. Apollo's Chariot is one of my favorite hypers. If I were to guess what's in those crates though... I'd say its 5 new mini-haunts for HH!

PHOTO Two Day Trip Report to Cedar Point by Ashers & Kjkjkj
Dvo replied to Ashers's topic in Trip Reports
First off, I really like this picture... http://s98.photobucket.com/albums/l274/ash...nt=DSC01391.jpg Got that out of the way. Second, sounds like an awesome trip! And I go to CP every summer, but that sounds really crowded for a thursday! And also, the most important thing.. I was at CP on opening day, and I waited at the gates with some other CP enthusiasts early in the morning... and I managed to get on the FIRST TRAIN on TTD of '08! (which also resulted in my FIRST ROLLBACK!) Incredible Glad you liked TTD and I'm also glad you liked MF the best. It's my favorite too, and I've made it my goal to get 500 laps on it in my lifetime (only up to 51 so far... 21 of which came on opening weekend haha). -
Umm, they already have one of those. It's called the CP&LE Railroad

Teenagers rollover van on way to CP
Dvo replied to Lake54321's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The article says that speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. C'mon kids... can't you wait the extra 30 minutes to go 120 mph on Dragster, rather than do it in your car on the turnpike?? -
I went Saturday-Monday. Saturday was rough, but Sunday and Monday were the 2 best days I've ever had there. Can't beat Dragster and Millennium Force walk-ons! AND I got 2 rollbacks on Dragster. Amazing. Not to mention the highlight of the trip.... First train on Dragster in '08!

"While I could be found at Sandusky's Cedar Point hosting rides including Mantis — the world’s tallest, fastest and steepest roller coaster at the time — Space Spiral and Schwabinchen — " Let's see... Mantis was the tallest, fastest, and steepest coaster? I think she should have taken a look around THE SAME PARK where she would have seen Magnum standing far taller, faster, and steeper.

^^Maverick has a 95 degree drop. Back on topic.. I'll have to say the worst experience I've had on a coaster is probably Son of Beast. I've never been hurt so bad by a coaster in my life. And I also despise Raging Bull at SFGA. It's not rough at all, but they just trim the crap out of it. It's so disappointing, given the size of it.

Six Flags Announces Thrilleaders
Dvo replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They will act as "Ambassadors of Thrill..." How dare they take my title?! Get me my minions and bring these impostors to the high court immediately! -
^^The issue I have with that is that sometimes people enter a line and then leave it before they ride the ride. This could happen if the ride breaks down, or if it starts raining, etc. So I wonder if they've developed an algorithm to estimate the real number. I kind of doubt it, because honestly... is it really that important?

"In theory," your theory is somewhat ridiculous. The forces on your legs that normally cause the most pain on stand-ups are due to strong vertical g's. In the case of a launch sequence the forces are pushing you forward, not down. So that really wouldn't be much different than a sit-down launch. The problem would be people's feet not being held forward, so during the launch I bet a lot of legs would fly backward and possibly hit something. I'm willing to bet that's why we've never seen a launched stand-up coaster.

It's pretty obvious to me. They're laying a concrete footing on the top of Drop Tower for the 600' Dive Machine that's going to go right over it in 2009.
