Congrats Maureen! Best of luck!

Are you sure the brakes before the 2nd drop were always there? I'm almost positive that when I was younger they weren't.. I seem to remember flying around that first turn and down the 2nd drop.. but I could be wrong.

While they're at it, let's turn Mason into a huge lake and KI would be on a peninsula. Then we can put a 300 ft tall Intamin Giga right on the left side of the park. Then have a 420 ft tall intamin launch coaster going down international street and straight up. Oh and don't forget the 200 foot Arrow hyper coaster in rivertown. Then let's move SOB to the back of the park behind Vortex. Things are really shaping up.... oh and of course this would all debut in 2009.

I think it's disgusting what they've done to The Beast. Brakes on the first drop, brakes before the second drop, then the long brake house right after that. The beginning of The Beast used to be so incredible... You could get SO much air time on the second drop before they added those horrific brakes. The Beast is still a fantastic coaster... but a lot of its punch is gone. Boo Paramount.

Bingo. Even if they tell the public in advance that a lot of the scareactors have to leave at midnight, that would solve a lot of unhappiness. At least then I would expect it. The cemetery really just made me kind of upset. We probably walked 500 feet without seeing anyone! Not only that, but the greeters at the last two were still pairing people into groups of 6-8 and there were only about 20 people in line! I have an idea.. I think that after the minors leave, they should close a few of the haunts and move the remaining scareactors from those into the other haunts. Granted they wouldn't be properly themed, but if they pulled off a good scare, I wouldn't care at all if it was a cornstalker in Redbeard's Revenge, or a zombie in Massacre Manor.

So I went to Halloween Haunt on Friday night and had a blast. We got through just about everything I wanted to do with the exception of the Cemetery and Massacre Manor before midnight. However the under age scareactors had to go home at midnight. When we went through the Cemetery at about 12:30, there were only THREE scareactors! Then at Massacre Manor, there were probably about 8 of them, but I think that could have really been a scary haunt if all of the actors were in it. I like the idea of staying open late, but it seems like they're wasting their time.

Voodoo Going To Dorney Park in 2008
Dvo replied to cstrwomann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wouldn't say that it's "scary." I'd use the word thrilling. It is really neat looking straight down at the ground. But I also like the back seat with the holding brake, because you go SO high. That's pretty scary. Still nothing scares me more than drop rides.. Just the thought that the only thing keeping you from falling 300 feet is an 8" thick plastic seat. Yikes. That's why I love em though -
Scary thinking that SOB and Millennium Force are already 7.5 yrs old.... yikes.

Magnum and MF pwn the crap out of everything else in that park. But I do love me some CHAOS every now and then... You better put on a helmet so it doesnt make a mess when Chaos BLOWS YOUR MIND

Move One Ride from Anywhere in the Country to KI
Dvo replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Coming Attractions
^What about an enormous footprint for a ride with very low ridership? Don't get me wrong, I love top gun, but I won't say I'd miss it a whole lot if it was gone. It covers a TON of land back there, and KI could easily fit a mammoth coaster in its place. On that note... I'd rather see them expand in Rivertown. Action Zone has plenty of big rides as it is... spread out the crowd, KI! -
ok I think I'm going to try for tomorrow night then.. anyone else going?

So I'm in a predicament. My dad's birthday is this weekend, and I'm coming to town to visit him. However, he's leaving early saturday morning on a fishing trip, so I'll only see him for a few hours tomorrow night. I was thinking about jumping up to Halloween Haunt, but I can't decide if I should go from 7:00-1 am on Saturday, or I think I can probably go from about 9:15 - 1 am tomorrow night. I know it's a shorter time, but I'm scared of the crowds on Saturday. Which do you think would be better??? Thanks in advance.

Maybe before they planned on removing it, Paramount was thinking about a remake of "Swamp Thing" and was hoping to theme KCKC into a ride based on it.....

Ok, you guys win haha. I wish I could have been there with you guys to share in the endeavors! As for snapping.... When you ride the eagles and you get them to go really high, the air drag pushes your eagle backward. The structure itself is moving at a constant speed, but if you can get high enough, the air pushes it back far enough so that the eagle "lags" behind the structure. Then on the way down, the cable tension makes it compensate, and by doing that, it thrusts the eagle forward, thus generating slack in the front cable. Then when you get to the bottom, gravity takes in and the slack in the cable drops, and your eagle SLAMS really hard. It was probably one of my favorite experiences at the park. Nothing like a good slam that shakes the whole structure. **EDIT: ^Looks like you beat me to it haha...

In regards to Tombstone Territory... Why don't they flip it around, so that the guests start from Rivertown and go back INTO the woods, and then take the train back? That way they could easily eliminate the "conga line" as Hauntguy put it, and in the worst case, guests would have to wait 10 minutes for a train, which they do anyway...

Someone should build their own eagles Actually, you could technically build something with just one eagle. Two steel truss members coming out of the middle base that is spun by a motor. Then just hang the "eagle" from the truss ends by steel cables and voila! Also on another note: One year I went to Stricker's Grove, and they have an "eagles" ride there too, but for some reason I could barely jump the cables at all... and I'm 99% sure that I was the best in the world at bouncing them at KI. One time I got my eagle to turn backward! Anyway, does anyone know why some eagles rides would bounce better than others? The only think I can think of is if the spacing between trusses was larger so that there was less play with the cables.

MA OFFICIALLY gets [Thunderhawk]
Dvo replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm pretty surprised that they don't even mention that it's coming from (the former ) Geauga Lake. -
it was deep enough that it didnt touch the bottom, but it would hit the sides on the turns. 2) there were wheels. 3) because KI never maintained it. people just threw garbage in there and it never got cleaned. I'm really glad KCKC is worth a 15 page thread. Will always be a great ride in my memories.

6F In Trouble for Carrothead Club Buffet?
Dvo replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I can easily see why he can be confused... drunk adults showing their chest hair and little kids with a carrot on their head. That's definitely infringing on his copyright. ... -
I'd rather see a dive coaster or an Intamin hyper coaster than something like Farenheit.
-
who cares? I'm very surprised that Six Flags didn't drop KK to be honest. In my opinion KK is a very sub-par park. There are some decent rides, but for the most part it's just mediocre. If I'm going to drive that far, I'd rather just go to Holiday World.

haha your thread was garbage

If only there were already a topic about this............. or two... or lots......

For good food at CP, look no further than PANDA EXPRESS! It's pretty pricy, but it's really filling and very tasty. I paid about $10 for a double-entree plate last time I went, and I was VERY full after eating it. and I'm a big eater. If you like it spicy, get the kung pao chicken. Yowza!
