  1. It's hard to say what's my number 1 coaster now.. Millennium Force is still my favorite steel, and Voyage is definitely my favorite woodie. But it's hard to compare the two.. If it came down to it and I was forced to pick one, I'd probably still take Millie. But wow. That's a great ride they've got at HW.
  2. yeah Voyage is amazing. No question about it. I forgot how much I liked that park until I went back yesterday. The atmosphere is great. I love how well-themed the different sections are. Not to mention free soda
  3. lol @ Viking Ship and Log Flume. I can understand log flume as there have been multiple log flumes and names for the current flume. Not to mention it requires less letters. But Viking Fury has been there forever, and also does not require any less letters. Next thing you know they'll just use generic names for every ride. "Rides Closed Today: Drop Tower"
  4. So after nearly 3 years of nothing but good reviews of The Voyage, I was dying to go to Holiday World at some point this summer. I've been there before, and experienced The Raven & The Legend, but never Voyage. Anyway, earlier this summer I came great news... CoasterBuzz Club was having Fall Affair at Holiday World. The schedule: Morning registration, then pizza and fudge dinner at 5:30 (yum!), and then ERT. From 6:30-7:00, Raven and Legend, then from 7:00 to 7:30, VOYAGE! It ended up not working out this way, but more on that later. I picked up my uncle around 8 am, and we headed to the park. We got there around 10:00 Central to find a nearly deserted park. Everything was a walk-on... to the point that even during single-train operation, there were plenty of empty rows on Raven & Legend. I remembered Raven being fun, but wow that thing never gets old. For not being very tall, that thing is super fast. Gotta love that last big drop. Incredible airtime in the back. The Legend is fantastic too... Between the insane turnaround at the far end of the track, and the dizzying double-helix, that ride is flat out intense. So after riding the two of them, and hitting several flats along the way, we came upon The Voyage. I don't think I could hide the excitement if I tried. We sat in the 2nd last row after a 1-train wait, and we were off. Up, up, up... and then WOW! Three fantastic drops in a row, followed by what can only be described as utter chaos. That thing is simply astonishing. Some insanely fast turns, sharp banks, and quick transitions. And then you crest a hill and slow down for a second... only to do not one, not two, but three drops in a row and all of a sudden you're FLYING again. The chaos continues and after being tossed, turned, and lord knows what else, you finally hit the brake run. Incredible. So throughout the day we got several rides on everything, and I do mean everything. Gobbler Getaway, Pilgrim's Plunge, Liberty Launch, Scrambler, everything. Then just when we were almost bored, it was 5:30. Time for dinner. We got to the banquet hall, and got our pizza, veggies, and Fudge! Very tasty, and very relaxing after a long day of riding. But then came the bad news. One of the park's workers got on a microphone and told us there were thunderstorms in the area. So instead of starting the ERT at 6:30, they were starting right away, i.e. NOW. So I scarfed down the rest of my food, and out the door we went. ' There was a group of about 25 that we joined with, but they went straight to Voyage. I wanted one more ride on the other two first. We were the first people in line for The Raven, so we got on the front seat. A good ride, but I left wishing I had ridden in the back. After that, we got on The Legend, 2nd seat to the back. Fantastic. And better news, at this point the sky was just cloudy... not too dark. So on to Voyage we went. I met up with my friend Ryan on the ride, and we got a ride in. That thing is unbelievable. But going up the lift, the sky was becoming noticeably dark... Whatever. I went again. This time, as we departed the station, we felt a few drops of rain. Whatever, a little water never hurt anybody. But now the sky was REALLY dark, and almost right on top of us... Another great ride. But my sides were getting a little sore, haha. KEEP GOING! While waiting in line for the 3rd ride (one train wait), we see the rain picking up a little bit more. Uh oh. Nonetheless I got in the train and fastened the restraints. And literally the minute I did so, we just heard a big ssssSSSHHHHHHH outside. It was POURING. Absolutely torrential downpour. That was the most ridiculous roller coaster ride of my life. We couldn't keep our eyes open because of the rain, and The Voyage was just relentless. I was scrambled like eggs. Beaten like Rihanna at Chris Brown's house (no offense). And yet that was one of the best coaster rides of my life. After I got off, I was ready to call it a night. We made the long walk out the front gate, and were on our way to the tunnel that goes to the lot across the street... and then we find that the tunnel is FLOODED! The water was up to our shins. But at this point we were so soaked, it made no difference. We forded that river with no problem. With sopping-wet shoes and socks, a hoodie that weighed about 20 lbs with the water, and some saran-wrapped fudge, we departed from Holiday World. Heads hung high, and extremely content. After all, that day couldn't have been any better.
  5. Nice meeting you too, sir. That was a pretty fun night. Always nice to have someone to hang out with at the haunts. I'll get a TR of Fall Affair at Holiday World up tonight. Epic trip
  6. The word on the street is that KI had live pigs in Slaughterhouse during the day, but at the last minute they were told to take them out. Which resulted in a pretty foul odor. And I agree that Slaughterhouse was way too foggy. I was with Tom and Angie and I could barely see Angie, even though she was within an arm's reach of me. But that was only the first half. The 2nd half of the haunt was pretty solid. Pretty gross, but pretty good. Didn't make it through cut throat cove.
  7. due to the 8,000 gallons of rain we had this week, my softball game tonight is cancelled... so there's a chance i may be going. anyone meeting up tonight?
  8. I voted Indifferent. I'm not offended, but I can see why some might have been. I don't think you exactly need crude humor to make a great haunt.
  9. I remember The Mummy's Revenge. I thought it was one of the better haunts that year. We managed to do almost all of them, now that I look back at it. I remember going through The Freezer, Mummy's Revenge, Pirate Jack's, and Torture Tower.
  10. They saw the tape... the one with the little girl.. in the well..
  11. Urgent Scare, because I've heard good things, and I've never been through it.
  12. Who gives out this award? In either case, this is one haunt in the area I've never been to, and I'm hoping to go this year.
  13. First, 2 links. http://database.thrillnetwork.com/ride_view.php/59 http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5...pg2.html?cat=27 Finaly, the most important link... http://lmgtfy.com/?q=the+bat+roller+coaster+history
  14. Here's a report from last year's opening day for the Haunt. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...halloween+haunt
  15. I could easily see something like that going in the paths between coney mall and rivertown, or even in Oktoberfest. I think it's a great idea. Starlite at CP was really neat. But then again, I'll never give any sort of credibility to Screamscape.
  16. The concert actually had a really light crowd this past weekend. certainly not enough people to justify closing the entire Soak City lot, if you ask me. I'd say there were no more than 2,000 people at the actual concert. Of course this is looking at it from the magnum lift hill in the dark so I can't be sure.
  17. ^or just walk through Planet Snoopy.
  18. ^^and the various shows, the parade, etc. that go on in the daytime. CP has a fantastic balance of haunted attractions for kids and adults.
  19. I went to the Point this weekend for my first BooBuzz, and only my second weekend ever during Halloweekends. I went both Friday night and all day Saturday, and let me say that the park does a fantastic job all around. Can't say enough about Halloweekends. We managed to go through all of the haunts and see almost every show between the two days, which was great. I'll start with short reports about each day, then in-depth about the haunted attractions. Friday: Got to the point for early entry (which does happen on Friday nights ) and we knew right away the park was going to be dead that night (no pun intended). We got on all of the rides that night, including that night ride on Millennium which I couldn't wait for. However there was a rather strong wind blowing through that night, so the fog wasn't lingering at all. But we got through all the haunts as well, so Friday was just fantastic. Saturday: Started the day with morning ERT on Maverick as a part of BooBuzz... 16 rides in just over an hour! Wow that was amazing. Then was the early entry time. I got to MF at about 11:10, and the line was out of the queue and over the train tracks. A sign of things to come... the park was pretty crowded yesterday. Nonetheless I waited it out, and after that I headed up to the front to get 2 rides in on Raptor just as the general public was allowed in. The rest of the day was spent seeing various shows and trying to find rides with shorter lines. Not a simple task. We ended up getting on most of the rides throughout the day, and a few haunts again that night. As I said, the crowds were pretty bad, but I've seen much worse on a Halloweekend Saturday. Now for the haunted attractions... I'll start with the shows I saw. 1) Witches of Witch Hollow. I didn't pick up from the brochure that this was a kids' show (haha) so I only stayed for about 5 minutes. But I'm sure if you have little ones they'll love it. Some singing, and casting fun spells & such. 5/10 2) The Return of Dr. Cleaver. This show is pretty humorous, and they even throw in some magic. One of the better shows I saw, in my opinion. And they throw some eye candy at you too (for the guys). 8/10 3) Chris Linn's Magicomedy. Exactly what it sounds like... some magic and some comedy. He did some pretty cool tricks while I was there. The jokes were a little on the dry side, but not bad. 7/10 4) Halloween Hullabaloo. This show is pretty long, and has several costume changes. I was pretty impressed at how quickly the singers changed their outfits. And there were some really good vocalists too. If you like music shows, this one is for you. 7/10 5) Monster Midway Invasion/Parade. We saw the monsters do their dancing exposee in the midway. Again good for the kids. Otherwise don't waste your time. However the parade was fantastic. A little short, but the floats are really neat and I love the pumpkins that drive around in circles. dance show: 5/10 parade: 9/10 Now for the haunts... 1) Happy Jack's Toy Factory. Wow. This thing is decked out with toys and games. And what can I say about the ending... hilarious. The scareactors have really good outfits in here, and they do a pretty good job executing scares. My first trip through was kind of disappointing because of the group I was with. But the 2nd trip was very good. Overall it's an incredibly well-themed haunt, but toys and games don't bother me, so I think it lacked the scare factor just a tiny bit. 9/10 2) G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate. Bigger Wow. This was probably my favorite thing all weekend (other than the saturday night ride on MF ). This haunt is, in one word, spectacular. The themeing is exceptional in both quality and quantity. And it gives a really creepy setting for a haunt. The rooms are all wonderful and the scareactors have great places to hide. We were in the last group of the night on Friday, with only 4 people. And we got the $#@& scared out of us. 10/10. 3) Undertaker U. A pretty good indoor haunt. The themeing was pretty standard for a haunt, and the scares were okay. Gotta love the spinny tunnel thing. 6/10 4) Club Blood. A great haunt throughout, and it's rather long. I loved the body bag room. 8/10 5) Terror Island. Fantastic setting with MF flying by, and the theming/lighting is great. 9/10 6) CarnEvil. Pretty boring if you ask me. The fog is thick, but clowns walking around just doesn't do it for me. 5/10 7) Fear Faire. Very similar to CarnEvil, just different theme. 5/10. 8) CornStalkers. This was a pretty good haunt. I couldn't see the scareactors at all until they were jumping out. Pretty scary. 8/10 9) Fright Zone. I liked this setting better than CarnEvil and FearFaire, but the scares were still lacking. The "snow" lights in the winter section of Starlite Experience are now raining blood (any slayer fans? ), which I liked. 6/10. Overall a great weekend. We also had a Terror Island tour on Saturday afternoon, which was really just a great photo op time for MF. Love that coaster. I think this was my last trip to CP this year, so I'll see it in 6 months!
  20. Just came back from Halloweekends. It's absolutely fantastic up there. The two new haunts this year are absolutely incredible. Trip report will be coming tonight. But I also really like KI's haunt. If you're only going to do one or the other, I would just do whichever is closer as they are both fantastic.
  21. ^nice one terp. There's no question that was the roughest ever. Or maybe the initial attempts at the vertical loop... circles anyone?
  22. I don't think it's any evidence of them re-opening it this season. Having already announced that they aren't, I think they're either doing some tests on the ride dynamics, or else running it just to get some work hours into the systems. After all, machines and systems being left idle for long periods of time develop errors, such as the first few weeks of seasonal parks' operation.. mechanical nightmares.
  23. Yeah sorry about the lack of evidence. Again just word of mouth. But as someone said, my brother works as a KI police officer.
