I don't think this site will have any problem if SoB is removed. As for the poll... I am far from being a fan of the ride. I don't "hate" it, but I won't ride it. It's just too rough. I'm very tall, which means my legs take a good beating every time I ride. Ouch. But at the same time, it's a giantt investment in the park, and seeing it go would mean that a lot of capital is being spent on ride removal, rather than ride addition. So yes, I almost hate to see it go. If it opens back up next year, I'll be very happy. I hope there's a solution somewhere that involves minimal spending and includes some ROI. But I just don't see it happening. In the end, I essentially think that SoB is one of the bigger mistakes in recent Amusement Parks.

Nice Poll McSalsa. I went with 1) Diamondback 2) Good 3) Better. Diamondback definitely highlighted the year for me this year. I truly believe that I spent over half my time in the park this year at Diamondback. The only reason I went with good is because of the Son of Beast situation. That generated a good amount of bad publicity for the park. I think next year will be better because they'll have an idea of where they're going with it, and the rest of the park should be smooth-sailing, with the addition of some fun "new" characters for the kids.

SHOOT THE RAPIDS at Cedar Point
Dvo replied to firehawkboy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wrong. Thunder Canyon's water does indeed come from the bay. They pump it in and out daily. The water for SRF, however, is chlorinated water. Wow. Really? Someone would be disappointed no matter what the announcement. If it was the biggest and fastest coaster, the families would be disappointed. People were disappointed when they announced Maverick. The park is filling a gap in their lineup, as has been said numerous times. And if some coaster fanboys want to whine about it, that's certainly not the park's fault. -
Nice link to the review. I'm probably going back up to CP for Halloweekends at some point, and there's a good chance I might have to do this again.

This took long enough to write, but I'm finally getting around to it. I went up to Cedar Point this past Sunday and Monday, and I met up with some friends at the park on Sunday. The park was great both days, very very light crowds. But one of my friends brought up Ghostly Manor on Sunday, and I had always been wanting to go, but I never had anyone else interested in going. So needless to say I jumped on the opportunity. The park closed at 9:00, but we dead-weighted dragster and got out of the park around 9:30. Ghostly Manor is only about a 10 minute drive from the causeway, so we got to the entrance of the haunt around 9:45. WOW! Upon pulling up to the building, there is a hearse with the rotating light on top, and a GIANT dragon coming off the building, which is themed to look like a medieval castle. And the best part... we were the only two cars in the lot! This was going to be scary. We bought our tickets and went in. This is a year-round haunt, but being a sunday night I didn't expect many actors. However when we were about to enter, the ticket-taker got out a walkie-talkie and let "someone" know that we were coming. Oh boy. We went in, and after maybe three rooms I knew this was going to be amazing. The props/animatronics are INCREDIBLE. They really must shell out a load of money to buy that stuff. One room in particular stands out, but every room is themed from wall to wall, and the actors are fantastic. Being the only 2 people in the entire haunt, we got the living hell scared out of us haha. Needless to say it was fantastic. If anyone is going to CP or Sandusky on a weekend, I strongly recommend a visit. http://www.ghostlymanor.com/

^^I think you're right. I think there were a few live actors on the ride one year. But I'm pretty sure there were very few. Still, I miss that ride.

SHOOT THE RAPIDS at Cedar Point

Ummm let's see... this coming from the person who said this: Leave it to Firehawk123 and TTD_Maverick to really get the complaining going. Sorry to single you guys out. But it's getting bad. -
^eww I don't like any of that. Personally I hope they either a) don't add anything else back in X-Base, or add stuff back there, but make it much more accessible. The rides back there are pretty secluded. Whereas I think Oktoberfest is one of the better looking areas of the park, and I think if they eventually take SoB down, they could easily add rides in its place, perhaps branching out of Oktoberfest.

SHOOT THE RAPIDS at Cedar Point

oh noes teh animationz doesnt showz teh lap barz!!!111eleven the animation also shows all of the riders facing forward the entire time and not moving, even when passing under a waterfall... .. The point being that the purpose of the animation is more or less to show the ride layout and what the riders will experience as they go through the course. -
Shoot The Rapids returns to CP http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride...oot_the_rapids/ Looks like a pretty fun flume.

^I'm hoping to do the same. As long as I get to go through Urgent Scare and Massacre Manor finally, I'll be happy.
-
Sorry to change the subject, but... Woohoo! I'm glad there's some truth to this
-
Best one I've been through at KI is either Trail of Terror or Redbeard's Revenge. I really want to go to Urgent Scare and Massacre Manor this year but we'll see.
-
^I think I would even want that. I agree, I don't think it will be bad at all. The kids will still see their favorite shows on tv, but when they go to the park they can experience a completely different set of fun characters. Even if they don't know who they are, the kids still see that the rides are great. And as Rail Rider said, Snoopy has staying power, so barring something really bad happening, I think the Peanuts gang could be there for a very long time.

No way of telling right now... but if I had to guess, I'd go Intimidator, Diamondback, i305. Again just guessing based on layouts.
-
^See directly above your post...
-
It could be read that way. But it doesn't confirm anything really. 2 down, one to go could mean major holidays in the summer for all we know. Memorial Day and Independence Day are past, Labor Day is coming. Just saying. ^And I kind of agree... but I think it's more of a chance for good marketing than it is to give it a record.

Giga, I can't agree with you more. The gum situation is out of hand everywhere. I noticed a particularly bad one on the log flume at Indiana Beach last week. There are two small tunnels through which you pass, and I could see more gum than I could the actual walls. It's disgusting. Either remove the walls, or put cameras in so they can catch the people who do it and toss them out.

Maybe it'll be like Fight Club and they'll set all the credit card companies back to zero. That would be the beginning of a new age in itself. This is not suggestive, so please don't take it the wrong way.
-
^Pause it and let the whole thing load. Personally I like this layout better than Diamondback's. I think there is a lot more to the coaster before the MCBR on Intimidator. Of course this assumes that we'll get similar airtime on the camelbacks. If so, I think this could be the best B&M Hyper out there.

^not sure why that would ever be funny...

kings dominion new coaster in development

Yeah, that 300' drop out of Flight of Fear's brake run catches me off guard every time. -
kind of ironic, yes. but its also the point. to clarify what should and shouldn't be said on kic.
-
While it's exactly the opposite, I'm quickly growing to HATE that Kings of Leon song. I swear I hear it at least once in the queue every time I go.

There's misinterpretation and there's telling people they know better.
