  1. I was thinking the same exact thing...we finally agree about something in this topic! I would like to say that I am enjoying this topic very much. I like a spirited debate...especially on a subject that I am so passionate about. I have (obviously) read this whole thread and from what I can tell, there are actually 3 factions here: 1. The people who like this idea AND think the price is fair. 2. The people who like this idea but think the price is NOT fair. 3. The people who do not like this idea at ANY cost. (I fall into the third catagory...I do not care if this perk would cost 50 cents...I don't believe in it.) I would also like to point out that the MAJORITY of the people who are against this perk do not seem to be bringing up a class system...it is mostly the people who are for the system. In closing I would hope that everyone keep in mind that when I post something it is not meant in a "mean" way.
  2. GYK...I just wanted to say that I always love reading your posts...and usually agree with most of them...but I do have to point out contradictions in these two: (I added the bold face type for emphasis.) Which is correct? In your opinion is the park going to be selling a lot of these or not? Secondly...I don't EVER EVER want to see you complain about high prices for food or anything since it is your belief that all of the money the park makes comes back to us in good ways...and not just to pay for golden parachutes.
  3. Because if you didn't have a ticket you wouldn't be standing in line.
  4. TombRaiderFTW & Interpreter...thank you for answering my question. It is disheartening to know that he did not stick to his philosophy he had at that time...but I am still sticking to it.
  5. Thank you SO much Dave! I hope you also have a great time!
  6. Ironically "Life isn't fair" is pretty much my outlook on life...but it doesn't mean I have to accept it. As for the $50 or shut up...how about since it is not that big of a deal you pay for me and my family to get these passes when we're at the park next time?
  7. Do you also remember reading the quote...I have tried for years to find the person's name who said it. Can you give me his name? Edit: I forgot who I was dealing with...let me rephrase my last question. WOULD you give me his name?!
  8. Using this logic buying a multi-million dollar mansion is not limited to just a certain group....affording good health care is not limited to a certain group... How hard is it to understand the principle involved here is that it shouldn't be right that if someone gives the park some extra money they can step ahead of the majority of their customers who are waiting patiently for their turn in line. What's that old saying...everything I needed to know I learned in kindergarten? I have drug this quote out several times over the years whenever this subject comes up...so here it goes again: Back in the day when one of the higher-ups in the Paramount Kings Island days was asked why the park did not have a system like this Fast Lane he replied something to the effect: "Because I would never want to put a parent in the position of explaining why some people have to wait in line and others don't". The man was a God to me when I read that.
  9. Nothing in life IS free...but the Fast Pass cost is included in the ticket price...just as is the cost of the rides, the landscaping, the light bulbs on Main Street... My main complaint is the principle of the whole thing...not whether I will even notice...with that said, I have read your calculations...but you seem to be overlooking the obvious. If someone spends $50.00 for one of these passes you would assume they are going to want to get their moneys worth and keep riding and riding. How many times do you think someone could keep getting back in line over and over while someone is waiting 45 minutes for Diamondback? I would also assume that not too many people are going to travel a great distance by themselves and so that means they would each have one of these fast passes and be riding together...the numbers would add up faster than you think. Like I have said, with me it is more of the principle of the whole thing.
  10. You wrote out a very passionate response...and I respect that...but since you DID ask if we/I thought it made sense I will give you my short answer: No. The reason I say this is that no matter if someone in line does or doesn't notice that they are being cut in front of, they are...which means that it has cost them a little bit of their time...which is just as precious to them as the people who can afford to spend the $50.00.
  11. That prediction is about as impressive as me predicting that there will be a new Son of Beast thread by tomorrow! Anyway here are a couple of signs I would like to see at the park:
  12. A little humor on a serious subject can be good...and I like this answer!
  13. I'm glad the park is doing this because I have always felt sorry for the people who's time is too valuable to stand in line with everyone else.
  14. ^ You will be taken care of...sounds kinda mafioso doesn't it...I sent you a PM.
  15. And here is the complete 3 day schedule: Notice how they describe the fireworks display slighty different each night. It is also amazing that the human fly performed 5 times. This just tells you how bad the population explosion has gotten since then...I had no idea I was 1 of only 500 kids back then. Well...that's the whole thing...hope you enjoyed it.
  16. Back when this was first announced I signed up immediately because I thought it would fill up fast. It is only a week and I am surprised that there are still so many openings. As I have stated before...everyone who went last year said it was a blast! I have always wanted to marathon a coaster so this seems like the best of both worlds...it will be not only fun but it will help others out. I am very picky on the charities that I donate to...so I usually do my homework. "Give Kids The World" gets a very high rating from Charity Navigator: Charity Navigator/Give Kids The World And in case you don't know what the charity is about: Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) is a 70-acre, non-profit resort in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. GKTW provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, donated attractions tickets, meals and more for a week-long, cost-free fantasy vacation. With the help of many generous individuals, corporations and partnering wish-granting organizations, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 100,000 families from all 50 states and over 70 countries. For more information, visit www.gktw.org. So come on and sign up!
  17. Compared to some of today's thrill rides these almost seem like family rides. I SO miss Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal! "...that Broadway show type thing." is a cute line...and the line about his wife's favorite thing to do is shop seems a bit stereotypical.
  18. Just as I can't ignore a beautiful sunset...or a dead bloated deer along side the road I can not help but notice some of these people. So obviously you are talking about us here on the board and not the employees?
  19. "Grandma Johnson's Steamboat Fried Chicken" It's hard to believe that having Kenny Rogers for Grad Night would have been considered a good thing...you would have thought there would have been a lot better choices than him/them for the "kids".
  20. I agree with this statement...but I just can't seem to not let it get to me even if I try. The main reason I feel like that is I like to play by the rules...and I don't think there should be 2 sets of them. When I see people disregarding the dress code it strikes me that most of them feel that they are better than everyone else and that the rules don't apply to them. (How's that for an inner working of my brain?! ) The other thing that I think about is why shouldn't I be able to break a park rule that I personally don't like if I choose...fair is fair. (Maybe I think line jumping SHOULD be a sport!) Yesterday at the park, I like many others spotted more bikinis and shirtless guys than I can count. (And the majority of them would have done both themselves and me a big favor by covering up!) Is the dress code offenders that big of a deal...possibly not...but it's a slippery slope that could make the park appear less "classy".
  21. Not really a specific line to comment on...but I just wanted to say that when I was at the park on Tuesday that the announcer guy...whatever you call him...was doing a great job keeping the "crowd" entertained by saying different things non-stop. I also think Jeffrey at the Eiffel Tower was trying to make the trip up the tower interesting.
  22. I can now finally say that I have ridden it once! Like others have stated...I do not consider it a thrill ride...and I don't even like heights! It was a nice ride to look around the park...and the music is a nice touch. I was lucky enough to have gotten the Superman theme which was nice. My only comment to improve the ride is to have some speakers at the bottom of the tower for the people in line to also enjoy.
  23. Yesterday at the park I saw one of the park's "higher ups" walking about 5 feet behind a boy without a shirt on and did nothing. (The boy was about 11-12 years old.) As a side note...I didn't know it was against park rules to not have a shirt on back when I was at the park in the late 80's...I found out when I took my shirt off and hadn't barely had it over my head before I was approached by an employee saying that I would have to put it back on. The time's they are a changin'.
