I think this would have been great to see...markr, do you remember seeing this? I'm guessing "that" roller coaster is The Racer.

Avatar, Thanks SO much for adding your stuff to the thread!

Just for the record, MTV officially dropped the music in their name a little over a year ago...they didn't even attempt to explain what the M now means!

This is about the only thing in the flyer that I think the park "over sold". I have helped put up an air balloon several times...interesting yes, exciting no. I wonder if "elderly lady" was a little dissapointed when she read how she was described in the paper? (I will be taking a break for 2 days...more on Thursday.)

That's quite a few bands! The cynic in me says that the ones from Indiana were chosen to help promote the park there...but I wonder how the one from Pennsylvania ever got on the list? "...pulling their hilarious antics"...that line is SO Hanna Barbera. In hindsight these costumes look pretty bad...especially Fred & Barney...but back then they seemed great. (The biggest Kings Island costume mistake EVER had to be Templeton the rat...that costume looked creepy!) Smooth...neat...those were the days!

Just recently I was lucky enough to have won a newspaper insert promoting the Grand Opening of the park on eBay. When I aquire something like this half of the fun is sharing it with other people who I know are just as big of nerds as I and will appreciate it! When the seller put it up the starting bid was $9.99...but he had a disclaimer stating he would end the auction early if someone wanted to make a fair offer at any time. Now as a few of the posters on here know I watch eBay pretty closely...and I had never seen one of these listed before so I wondered how high it would go. I thought about making an early offer but eventually just decided to take my chances snipping at the end. Snipping is kinda the ultimate "Catch 22". You hope to get the item as cheap as you can...but you feel like a fool when you go to the trouble of being at the computer when the auction is ending and no one else bids. In this case I was the lone fool at the computer...I got this gem (in my opinion.) for only $9.99! There is no exact date on the insert...but it was printed some time after the "soft opening" weekends. Instead of just posting scans of the whole thing at once I have broken it up into smaller segments. I have done this so that it will be easier to read...plus by stringing it out over a few days it will (hopefully) be a little more fun to comment on. With that said, here are the first few scans: The "cover page". I will probably end up framing this. Whoever wrote this did an excellent job at painting an exciting time. I love the "It's patriotism, in the good, old-fashioned way." line. Lots more to come...and since I have already read it all it seems like it was an amazing 3 days at the park!

If I were your family I would be hurt...they rate WAY below a free cup of water?!

WindSeeker + Fireworks = Amazing (July 3rd TR)
standbyme replied to m2raptor's topic in Trip Reports
Nice trip report...and your WindSeeker ride does sound like it was great! Happy 4th to you too! -
Tell me about it...when you're doing the "family thing" you just can't seem to get everyone ready that early.
-
Nine? Nine times!

Nice trip report...it's nice to see such enthusiasm for something! The video was also nice...and in the "eerie" department, I was listening to E.L.O. as I was reading your report and turned it down to watch your video. (I loved seeing the "Married With Children" fountain as I call it.) I have to say I personally prefer New York City over Chicago...but I am from Illinois so it is probably a "You always want what you can't have" kind of a mentality.
-
Glad you had a good time...and ending the day with Delirium does sound perfect!
-
Thanks for the report...it was a fun read. And just to save some other readers the trouble: ac·qui·es·cence (kw-sns) n. 1. Passive assent or agreement without protest. ( I could kinda guess what it meant...but I still looked it up! )

I will start this post out by saying that I have been really happy with how CF has added all of the pavers everywhere...it is my favorite thing that they have done since taking over. (And yes, I think that even includes Diamondback.) So, as mentioned above...the next improvement I would like to see is the Festhaus clock people brought back to their former glory. (That would be followed by bringing back the actual organ to the carousel.)
-
Isn't it ironic that if someone isn't happy with something at the park and they voice their opinion it is considered "whining/complaining" by some members...who then voice their opinion by "whining/complaining".
-
I would think the Mondial people beat them!
-
^That's where I do find some irony...I think in a case like this MOST "enthusiasts" are willing to cut the park some slack because they understand this...it's the general public who is less forgiving when they show up and the ride is closed.

(I am posting in this thread just so no one thinks that since I appear to be outnumbered that I am a coward to comment. ) I have not been to the park this year...so yes things might have changed...but I will stand by my statement that I have never had a problem in the years that I have been going to the park. Maybe I just put off a different vibe than some people? I will be going to the park next month so I will let you know if my opinion has changed. God knows I love the park...but NEVER once have I thought of it as SPECIALIZING in hospitality! Good luck with the mostly solo fight Rumor!

But in our little town the fire department shows up at medical calls just to keep their call numbers up so they don't get their budget cut.
-
What. WHAT?!! I was your biggest defender that you would stick to your word. YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!!! (I am glad you changed your mind though...life's too short.)
-
You did get bragging rights though...so that's something!
-
Thanks for taking the time to make...and share the video. It was a lot of fun to watch!
-
That is dissapointing. I have a family member who can't ride Diamondback...it seems to be more of a larger hip size than weight issue. It will kill me if the same thing happens with WindSeeker.
-
I am just double checking to make sure I understand you correctly...you can ride Diamondback but not WindSeeker?
