  1. They announced this on their Twitter 14 hours ago...so I hope not https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/340302259764203520 There will be 18 reality TV stars from shows like Amazing Race, Survivor & Big Brother participating in Saturday's JDRF 3k Walk.
  2. The McDonalds is located approximately 1 mile away from the park...assuming your car gets 20 MPG and gas is $3.64 (current average in Cincinnati), you're spending $0.36 in gas...considering you can get a combo at McDonalds for about $6, I would say there is a major cost advantage. Especially if you order off the value menu. I choose to eat in the park the majority of the time, but I understand why people leave the park.
  3. What else could this be other than a roller coaster? I'm not trying to start a diversion, but we may be driving toward the wrong conclusion. Or not.
  4. My wife and I were at the park yesterday with my four year old niece (who barely reached the 44" line!). She was a real trooper- we rode The Scrambler first, then walked through Dinosaurs Alive! She loved every minute of it, and when the first growl and movement came she stepped back a bit. After that, as we made every turn she got more and more excited. She really enjoyed it and I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted to do it again. After that, we headed to the Reds Hall of Fame Grille. Food was great, service was slow....not sure if its staffing or what, but generally when you order drinks at a sit down restaurant you receive them within a few minutes. We waited at least 10. The server was friendly. The food took about 25-30 minutes, but it wasn't a big deal because at least it was FRESH. My wife and I both got the Red Leg burger with fries and my niece ordered chicken tenders with applesauce. On a side note, my wife really likes sweet potato fries. They're stil listed on the menu, but apparently they don't serve them anymore. From there we (or she) rode the train, Race For Your Life Charlie Brown (2x), The Kite Eating Tree (2x), Character Carousel (2x), Woodstock Whirlybirds, Snoopy vs. The Red Baron (2x), Boo Blasters (2x), The Great Pumpkin Coaster (2x), Peanuts 500 (2x), Woodstock Express (4x). We started making our way back the way we came and rode Linus Launcher and Race for Your Life Charlie Brown. She had a blast, and so did we. It was the first trip I've taken where I wasn't running from Diamondback to The Beast to FOF...etc...but it was so much fun seeing her have a blast and take in all these new experiences and thrills. The look on her face at the top of Woodstock Express was PRICELESS. We weren't really sure how "high" she would go, but she was so excited to ride Woodstock Express. She laughed and screamed the entire time. Such a joy... EDIT: Lines were nonexistent. It was the slowest day at the park I've seen in a while. Next trip, Sunday! I'm thinking it will be busy with this weekend's Tribute to the Armed Forces. It will be my wife and I with a couple of friends- one of which has never been to Kings Island.
  5. I've heard that too, but for some reason Cedar Point always seems to be busier and have longer lines.
  6. Alternative rock/80s/classic rock. I can't stand listening to most radio stations, luckily CD101 CD102.5 here in Columbus plays a lot of the rock music that I enjoy.
  7. my mistake, it was a few weeks ago so I'm sure it is 5pm.
  8. I agree with a lot of these points, although the food I received on my visit earlier this month was fresh. On an interesting note (maybe it's like this throughout the park?), my wife tried to order a Blue Moon and was told they didn't serve alcohol until after 3pm. It was about 1pm when we were there.

    eek! Top gun!

That is crazy..here in Columbus, OH gas prices were around 3.65, now going up to 3.89...
  10. As far as I can tell, there are no other reports of new footers outside of Kings Island. As to be expected, there are rumors at a lot of parks about possible rides/coasters, but we seem to be the only park with visible evidence...
  11. from pointbuzz.com's live feed of Gatekeeper media day: http://live.pointbuzz.com/Home/Item/1047 Obviously, that is very vague...but just thought I should bring it up. Rob Decker is the Corporate Vice President, Planning & Design. Another early reviewer of Gatekeeper stated that Ouimet teased ""we have given B&M a new job."
  12. early reviews from pointbuzz.com users: http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/29431.aspx
  13. I loved the pulled pork sandwich, it was pretty big in my opinion but there were a TON of fries. Everything was hot and fresh. My wife had the red leg burger with sweet potato fries, she really liked her meal. Service wasn't the fastest, but our server was very friendly and helpful. We could tell she was new, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was her first job. She wasn't the most attentive, but she didn't ignore us either. We definitely enjoyed the experience overall, and we'll be back!
  14. No handstamp required yesterday! My wife and I left the park for a few hours and came back for night rides on The Beast and Diamondback.
  15. The only coaster that I'd move from KD to KI would be Dominator. I've heard so many raving about the Flying Eagles, but I've never ridden them! EDIT: Might be going to the Columbus Zoo today, I think they may have the ride there.... Still might be going to the zoo, but Jungle Jack's Landing, where the ride is located, does not open until May 4.
  16. I would LOVE for a ride like Maverick to come to KI- I haven't been to a ton of parks (so far, Holiday World, Kings Island, Cedar Point, Geauga Lake, Kings Dominion, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg)...but out of all the coasters I've ridden at those parks, Maverick is definitely my favorite.
  17. This looks great- easy to navigate and a good set of coasters and information
  18. I've been to Kings Island more times than I can count and have been visiting since I was a child (and afraid to ride The Beastie, I might add...)- so I may be a little biased. I've visited Kings Dominion twice, and while I have enjoyed my visits I'm glad to call Kings Island my home park.
  19. That would be...AMAZING! I took my first trip to BGW last year and was blown away...Verbolten was incredible- even with half the theming it would be a welcome addition to KI in my eyes... Time will tell what direction the park is taking...
  20. I love how people blame everyone except themselves. Hours of operation are not a secret...
  21. Really? I thought it was fantastic. The first drop from the holding brake is fantastic. Granted it's a redundant/short layout, but still a thrilling two minutes. I enjoyed it as well...not my favorite ride by any means, but definitely fun!
  22. Knock on wood... I haven't had any trouble using my Kings Island Platinum Pass at other parks (Cedar Point, Geauga Lake, Kings Dominion).
  23. I think its pretty crappy of them to advertise "save $3.00 when you purchase online", when in reality it is cheaper at the park, due to the processing fee. I guess it depends on how many you buy, but what's with the 5.99 processing fee?!
  24. FunPerks was a nice concept, but I didn't really go enough/buy enough to reap the full benefits- I think I was at level 2. If they replaced it with a flat discount it would be easier for season pass holders and employees.
  25. Looks more like they borrowed the template from Cedar Point's Fast Lane page. I agree- I just checked the page and it doesn't even load properly now. The table comparing the passes is empty.
