  1. I think you bring up a really good point. I live in the Columbus area as well, and it is kind of funny to hear commercials that sound and look exactly the same advertising two different parks. There's a lot of people who still don't even know that Cedar Fair owns Kings Island....(and some don't know of a company called "Cedar Fair"). I do like the commercials more than I thought I would, I've been hearing them A LOT on the radio in the past week or so.
  2. On a separate note, I hate what has happened to this part of the park...It's almost depressing to walk through that section now.
  3. Umm..first of all, I'm just collecting ideas...I feel like I have a hundred in my head (and not all have Kings Island in them)...I was just seeking feedback...Secondly, I don't see how me asking for suggestions means I don't need to get married...Now if I was asking, "hey should I Get married to this woman?" - that may be another story.... Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions...some of them are ideas I've thought of (ie. Royal Fountain) and some I haven't... Thanks for the advice on this one Terpy, however this is something we've discussed and we're both ready for. It won't be so much of a surprise to her that I'm proposing, more so of the time and place. That's why I was considering Kings Island, because its a place we both enjoy. If I took her to a fancy restaurant, she would be expecting it - so I'm looking for something that can still be romantic yet spontaneous at the same time, if that makes any sense. Again, thanks everyone! Once the time comes I'll let you all know!!
  4. Hey KICers! Haven't posted in awhile, school and work have been keeping me very busy! I've managed to keep up on the "new content" and hope to soon join discussions (school's almost over for the quarter and I'm taking the summer off). Anywho...I'm trying to figure out the best way to propose to my girlfriend . We both really like Kings Island, so I thought it may be a nice idea. Any suggestions as to where, when, etc. while in the park? Let me know what you all think!
  5. Maybe you should take that as a hint...
  6. You are incorrect - how would you know if "we haven't received anything in the mail from the park"? I sure got something in the mail yesterday!
  7. You are correct - the offer is only good at the park on those given days. You'll have to check with the park to make sure (or somebody else on here may know), but since it's a renewal I would assume it would be processed on that day as well.. I can understand different prices because as you stated, markets differ. I'm just saying that if one park is going to offer Gold and Platinum, shouldn't another? Especially since they sent me, a platinum pass holder* for 2007-2009, an flier offering to renew my "Gold Pass" membership for 2010...Where Else? *I believe that in 2007 it was called a MAXX Pass Plus - or something to that effect.
  8. Just to reiterate 74Gibson's point, according to Tony @ CP there will be no in park announcement - everything will be done online. The announcement is at 9:10am, early access is at 10am and opening at 11am.
  9. When is Cedar Fair going to create consistency in the chain? One park is offering renewals for Gold and Platinum (Kings Dominion) while one is offering renewals only for Gold (Kings Island).
  10. ...and while this has never been officially confirmed (at least to my knowledge), a Platinum Pass gets you gold perk benefits at every park. I haven't been to a whole lot of CF parks, but my KI Platinum Pass has gotten me gold perks at KI, CP, and KD.
  11. ..."and"...? Oh please, continue...
  12. I've only rode the ride once on this new program (unfortanately, I never got a chance to ride it with the "extreme" program from before), but after the ride was over I heard people asking, "is it really over?" and some saying "that's it?"
  13. I suppose I just have nostalgic value - I still have all of my Goosebumps books and some other various RL Stine books.
  14. I would go on a KI trip with my aunt and uncle almost every year, and my uncle would have to drag me on what was then The Beastie. I can't remember what "Little Bill's Giggle Coaster" was called at the time (early to mid 1990s) - I was fine with that one, though
  15. Also see the Son of Beast Discussion Thread http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18995
  16. I certainly miss Phantom Theatre mainly because that is what I grew up with. It was one of my "highlights" of visiting Kings Island, because at the time I was terrified of roller coasters.
  17. The books you are referring to are "The Beast" and "The Beast 2"...I still own them
  18. Thanks!...Our Crypt also has 1/3 of the flips of The Crypt at KD... How could I forget?
  19. Kinzel is retiring? Is this a fact? I'm genuinely curious, I hadn't heard about that... However, I do agree with the rest of your post- certainly an interesting notion... Dick Kinzel restamped. If you read that it will tell you when Dick's final year is. I stand corrected - I knew he had decided for another four years, but it hasn't felt like its been that long...Time goes fast, I guess
  20. And I STILL don't understand why KD kept most of the themeing for The Crypt while KI's Crypt became a ferris wheel in an empty room.
  21. ...Which offers a spectacular view of the ceiling, walls, and floor...
  22. The most important thing to remember is that he had no health problems - that he or his family knew of...It is unfortunate, but the ride would not be open if CF had thought in any way that the ride actually caused a (healthy) person to die on the ride.
  23. A reference to the ride that is closed for the "REMAINER" of the season?
  24. In my opinion....I do not see Cedar Fair pouring much more money, if any, into this ride. There has to come a time when the cost of repairs or restructures are going to outweigh the benefits received from doing such...
