  1. all i'm saying is that if someone asked me to do something more extreme than what i'm used to, as long as i had the correct funding, i'd happily attempt whatever it was they were wanting me to do. i mean, it's not like they would have been asked to build the world's tallest steel coaster with a launch, instead they would have been asked to build something they were used to, just on a bigger scale.
  2. i think as long as a company was going to be paid the right price, they'd build whatever it is you want.
  3. huh... what do you know, i guess this proves that great american scream machine was leaving all along.
  4. for me it's a tie between snowy river rampage and tazmanian typhoon, both are a lot of fun to me and a must ride every time i go to the water park, even though i haven't even stepped foot into any water park in about three years. ...and until they do something about how hot the pavement gets at boomerang bay (more shading around the park would be great), i don't see me spending much time, if any at all there.
  5. plus, the costs of the ride up until '06 were paid by paramount, Cedar Fair has only had to pay for things after '06 dealing with Son of Beast, so they might not think of the cost pre- Cedar Fair days, instead they might only be looking at what they've had to pay.
  6. i figured age had something to do with it, but i wasn't sure if that would apply since the barn (as the tunnel surrounding the final helix is referred to in my family) is something separate from the actual ride itself. anywho, thanks for clearing that up for us.
  7. i'm almost 100% positive that now there are clearance specifications that have to be met in order for a ride to open to the public, but i'm not sure why The Beast hasn't been changed for more clearance, you'd think it would be anyway, or at least i do.
  8. as has been pointed out, there is more going on than what can be seen from the Eiffel Tower replica's viewing platforms, if someone were to be able to get a picture of something that showed something more going on, i'd love to see it. and besides, when the park opened at the start of the 2008 season, all there was of proof of Diamondback was a small pond, that was filled in with dirt, and a lot of people on here were ecstatic to see pictures of that.
  9. ... just throwing this out there, the last larger thrill ride (Diamondback) had a holding area back there, maybe we are getting a new thrill ride of some sort (not necessarily a roller coaster), and they are just prepping the area for the attraction to have a holding area. if this is true, i called it here. lol
  10. the only thing those two rides have in common is their current/past names, the capacity(?), and right after Kings Island's became "the crypt", the ride cycle. Kings Island's giant top spin was designed to be a trip through scenery, which most was causing the ride damage, so it was removed and left you with a trip in nearly complete darkness.
  11. ^just a random tidbit of information, a completely full Diamondback que, all the way up to the sign, with all three trains running, only means around a 45 minute wait, if that.
  12. it's more like random spirts of updates, they were able to remove Son of Beast, yet not change any of the nick themed attractions over to the new Planet Snoopy ones.
  13. hmm... not shooting down the idea, but could someone just be confusing the area back by the greenhouses (where land was filled in for Diamondback support/track holding area) for new cleared land?
  14. ^is that the one with black tape over it?
  15. for some reason i feel like i've seen something at Kings Island, maybe some paper tacked on the wall in Vortex's station, where the paramount's Kings Island logo was, and instead of printing a new paper someone instead took a black magic marker as scribbled out the paramount logo, leaving only "Kings Island" in view, and it hadn't been done neatly either, instead it looked like a random scribble on a piece of paper. it kind of reminded me of Cedar Fair's temporary fix for the Kings Island sign at the end of the royal fountains in '06 or '07 (i can't remember when they altered the sign).
  16. yes, coastersrz, i have to applaud you that even with all of that work and the doubtless amount of stress it gives you, you still manage to help out with this site, as well as coneyislandcentral. ...and thanks so much for the shout out goodyellowkorn. edit: just noticed my spell check inserted redoubtable, for a word i made up.
  17. ^^^i agree with your last sentence completely, and i'm sorry that, that happened to you when you first joined, however, i do agree with purplehaze's approach to the situation, instead of risking providing false information to missmolly, plus whoever comes to the site and views this topic later, both parties will now be able to know that they have the park's official word, rather than some random person on a Kings Island fan site*. *(not meant to be taken in a derogatory fashion purplehaze, sorry if it came across that way.) edit: terpy kind of beat me to it.
  18. kirk, she's not a new member, she joined april 4, '04, purplehaze told her in both threads that for the most up-to-date information to contact the park.
  19. wow, it's amazing me the way they are showing this ride no mercy. juancarlos aponte said it best in his comment on photo 18:
  20. it's not: http://rcdb.com/rhr.htm?m=1 however, millennium was the tallest full circuit roller coaster when it opened.
  21. i'm not sure why it was ended, but i know that don Helbig said at the off-season blues party a year and a half ago that there were no plans to bring it back.
  22. oh , well then try explaining to her that the ride has held together for 31 years and hasn't fallen apart yet.
  23. congrats to your mom, if you want her to ride on The Beast with you, try explaining to her how the center bench of a car isn't over wheels, so it's more like you're floating over the track, rather than rolling on it. it makes the ride much more smooth.
  24. terpy, your link is broken, so here it is: http://rcdb.com/3793.htm
