My first roller coaster was at a little family park called Pee Wee Valley in the Reading area of Cincinnati. It was similar to The Great Pumpkin Coaster. It seemed very big to me at the time. ( Since I was little-lol.) My first adult coaster, of course, was the Shooting Star at Coney Island. ( One of Terpie's favs. ) It is so sad that they could not save that ride-I would certainly include it with my top fav wooden coasters.

To those who would try to bend the rules, , how would you feel if it were your parent, your sibling, your spouse or your child who was seriously hurt because of someone who cared more about getting that shot than about the safety of their fellow human being?

This thread was revived from 2003. At the time, PKI would have been appropriate because that was the name of the park back then. This thread was revived from 2003. At the time, PKI would have been appropriate because that was the name of the park back then. ooops, I goofed. Sorry about that.

I remember riding less than two weeks after my gall bladder surgery and having no problems at all.

With all due respect, I would not phrase this thread as" PKI's past" but "King's Island's" past. The Paramount years in KI's 40 year history only existed for 13 out its 40 years. Remember, it was the Taft family, not Paramount, who created Kings Island including such classics as The Beast. Just trying to give credit where credit is due.

I would immediately contact Guest Relations about your negative experience at your hotel-I know there is a sectoin there that handles complaints about the resorts.

I'm very happy with the improvements current management has made and expect it only to get better. If Six Flags were to buy KI tomorrow, I would not stop going to KI-I feel darn lucky to have a world class park in my own backyard no matter who is managing it. Besides, we would have Mr. Six dance parties on the grandstand. ( Love to see that man dance. )

Two weeks ago on Saturday, 7/7 when we had a record high temperature, I was at Soak City and the park was packed-when I left at about 2:30 pm I did not see the parking area by the main part of the park very full like a typical Saturday-so, indeed, I think the heat has cut down on the typical crowds at least in the main part of the park. Today, when the humidity was very low, the park was packed.

As far as I am concerned, if I put my belongings on a chair, that means "hands off." If you want a chair, then get to the water park early as I do. That being said, I have to agree that it is ridiculous for families with kids to reserve a bunch a chairs that their kids won't sit in any way.

For me the Coke/Pepsi debate is irrelevant-I drink Vernors' Ginger Ale.

TTD has been open for ERT this year at least when I was at CP. I think it is a matter of how soon the staff can get the ride ready and, if it is ready at 9am, they will include it with ERT. Don't forget Power Tower-while I do love Drop Tower, Power Tower is 10 times better because of the air-time both on the drop side and the lift side.

I remember Vortex being a very smooth ride the first few years of its operation. I don't know if it is true of arrow loopers in general but over the years, it has gotten rougher and rougher. In contrast, the B & M Raptor seems just as smooth and fresh now as when it first opened 18 years ago.

Emergency, come right away.

The yellow ride is Dominator at Kings Dominion-pay attention to Terpie's post. At any rate, although I love KI and CP I do wish their commercials ( as well as the commercials for the other Cedar Fair parks) were not so cookie cutter-I wish that the commercials would highlight the uniqueness of each park. How I miss the old slogans that would identify each park. ( Get to the point for CP, Let yourself go for KI.)

This is a combination Guests Say/Do the Darnest Things. My friend and I walk into the bathroom yesterday in Camp Snoopy across from the chicken game. We see by the urinals a woman who appears to be changing her kids' wet clothes. She looks at us and apologizes after just realizing she was in the wrong bathroom. Hello, what do you think those urinals were for? ( lol.)
-
Was at the park yesterday and was practically empty . ( Although the heat was horrible. ) Park got progressively more crowded after Soak City closed. From my experience crowds at both KI and CP are greatly exaggerated on holidays. I think people simply prefer to do other things on holidays.

Was the business logo on the man's shirt by any chance " Dippin Dots"? Just kidding. At any rate, welcome to KI Central.
-
You do know that it is a bad idea to stand under a tree during a thunder storm? I am assuming that you mentioned such an idea in jest.
-
I assume that as members of KI Central we are all big fans of Kings Island. So, if you are such big fans of KI, why are you all so negative toward any one who ranks Kings Island as one of the top parks? I feel flattered that any one would give such a high rating to a park which has meant so much to me.

What exactly are you waiting on, a press release? The ride would not have opened 20 minutes later without them knowing what had happened. Chances are most of the delay was waiting for first aid to come out and clean the blood out of the train. I think some are making this a bigger issue than it actually is. I am not waiting on anything. I was making the same point that you are making, ie that people may be making a mountain out of a molehill.

I am sure that they are investigating what caused the boy's injury-I think we should wait for the investigation to be completed before speculating that the ride caused the injury.

The fried chicken was terrific there.

I can. Ice cold beer, a big lake and a pontoon boat. Beer actually will cause you to get de-hydrated on a hot day. Ice cold water is the best thing.

July and August are the busiest months and weekdays tend to be crowded too although Saturdays are still the busiest. I have found that Fridays actually seem to be the least busy days while Mondays tend to be the busiest weekday.
