Go Carts, Antique Cars and Law Suits
Dalefan replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The go karts have rules and laws. It's the person driving them that is at fault. Not the people who run them. So you need to go after the driver of the go kart. If that driver acts dumb, then the park needs to say something to them. Every driver can't be looked at before they drive a go kart to see if they can't drive them right. -
I have used FastLane a few times last year. I'm not a spoiled little rich kid am i because i saved up my hard earned money from working 40 hours a week to get it? FastLane is just a perk and nothing else. Just like the V.I.P. thing. It's a perk you pay for and nothing else. No one is twisting any arms making people buy it. If you go to Disney, you will see the same thing. Just on a much different scale. I will say that to me, FastLane is more of a better perk when the park is packed and ride times are over 2 hours. I tend to shy away from getting it if the park is dead and the wait times are under an hour. FastLane has another perk too. It's cheaper if you get over 4 of them i believe. And FastLane is worth everything you pay for it and more. Well, there may be a few exceptions to the rich kids, but again, it is more of a moral issue. Here is a scenario, a family of 5 saves for 2 years for a family vacation to the park. While they are standing in line, the younger kids of the family keep watching people walk right by them and get on the rides they have been waiting hours for. How do you explain that to the younger kids that are pointing to the sign beside them that says line jumping is not a sport? I have never, and will never buy or endorse the fast pass, and will voice my opinion anytime I get an opurtunity. As far as Disney, I was told, so I do not know the facts, but I was told that Disney has a similar fast pass, but it uses your original ticket that you swipe at the ride entrance and then it gives you a time to return. At no extra cost. Spell check dude.

Yall should see the ones on YouTube. 85% of them are breaking the park rules due to them taking video while on the ride. And they get mad when they get called out on it by the people who see the videos. It would be different if they had the parks ok to do it.

The thing with the FastLane is that will anyone cry about waiting 30 mins in the FastLane line when the normal line is 2 1/2 to 3 hours long?

I've seen a few Top Spin rides down for along time. Geauga Lake had one that was down every time i went.

I've seen the land most people don't see. Oh. Really? You've been on a Beast tour? Just like the rest of them? Sheesh. Come back when we all care. No need to be nasty. Do you want someone to be nasty to you for no reason?

KI only owns the land they are sitting on. Building a bridge won't work at all. They would have to redo that whole road from the where the Harley place is to Western Row Road. And i don't think Mason will let that happen. Mason already is trying to get more money from KI now. And the park needs all of the parking spots they can get. We had 50,000 and 40,000 people in the park for Haunt last year, and the park used all of the spots including the employee lots. We had to park in the grass and ride the bus to the gate. the bridge is probably unrealstic, though a people only bridge over the road wouldn't cost a ton (but probably not worth it compared to a shuttle. What probably makes more sense, if they went down this path, would be to turn that into bus parking. Drop the passangers off near the front somewhere, then park your buss back across the street for the day. With the traffic light, it would be pretty easy to get the busses back and forth and would free up a large chunk of the parking lot that is taken up by buses every day. KI doesn't need to give Mason a reason to get money from them.

That would be a cool 47 million but who's counting.... When the announcement was made that SOB would be closed for the 2010 season, it was said 30 million had been spent on the ride (still not even as much as Diamondback and Top Thrill). It cost 20 million to build. That leaves 10 million for repairs that have been done. But I could see how you could get 47 million and 10 million confused. You have to count the cost of the injurys too.
-
Seeing how much money KI spent on fixing it and doing other stuff to it, i could see them getting rid of it. The money they spend on fixing it costs as much as Diamondback and Top Thrill Dragster combined.

My wife asked me if Mason has a closed themepark. I said i wasn't that sure. But then i remember hearing about them being at KI. I hope it's true. It's too bad we can't dress up in the Haunt outfits and run about the park and make them think we was ghosts. Lol. But we could really say that the park is haunted.

Someone i was working with during the Haunt last year told me about this. Said something about finding a girl or maintance man around The Beast. Not sure if that is true or not. Some shows on tv are taped in the spring and summer and shown during the fall and winter. Ice Road Truckers is shown in the spring/summer and taped in the winter.

Cedar Fair Is Not Disney--Motley Fool
Dalefan replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You also have to think about that a normal package deal without airfair and rental car is $5,000 for Disney. I looked it up. People do look up the stuff. You can't just say people don't. You also have to put in the food that they charge for, the bag fees and other stuff. Disney anymore for a family of 4 is just not as cheap as it once was. And if Disney is pose to be so good, then why don't they get the #1 park award then? Cedar Point has been getting that. -

Disney just charges more per ticket then a normal gold pass. And i've heard that a Disney season pass is 5 times more then the platinum pass. -

I find it interesting that zoos (Columbus and Cincy, namely) have found such success with their wintertime events while Paramount's efforts floundered. In Columbus, the zoo typically sees its highest daily attendance records broken not during mid summer or even Ohio's pleasant fall, but during the cold, December "Wildlights" dates. Sure, the zoo's smaller infastructure might make it easier for them in terms of ROI, but the park's dramatically larger scope and attractions roster, one would think, would lead to a very successful event. On some nights, The Columbus Zoo's Wildlights is way too busy. -

I asked the park about doing another Winterfest. Was told that they won't do it due to loosing too much money. -
The only other company i would of seen buying KI would of been Disney. They have the money.
-
I wished they would of had more bench's outside where we waited at so we could wait for the others to get makeup on and stuff for the Haunt.
-
Since they did chopper rides in that area, they should be able to put a flat ride in that area. The pad the chopper was on had to be a certin size anyway.
-
People whine and cry no matter what the park does good or bad. Just look at Cedar Point's and Kings Island's facebook page.
-
I was told when i put in a job app. for KI that they will start interviews in feb.

Minors don't have to clock out by a specific time on Friday and Saturday, just Sunday (since they have school the next day). That's why there's no Haunt on Sunday and the park closes at 8pm. Yes they do. We had ours gone at 12:30 am.
