God, last winter it's Diamondback, this year Son of Beast. At least last year we knew exactly what we were getting. Now it's down to little more then a guessing game. Place your bets, place your bets! Odds are running 3-1 that this thread implodes on itself before any real news on the ride is released. Place Your Bets!!

I always imagined the announcement for it's removal looking something like this:

Voyage to get new trains for 2010
Beast1979 replied to csikoth's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
While I would have liked to ride Voyage with it's original trains, these look fantastic! I can't wait to ride Voyage now, especially with these trains, I guess all they're missing is cup holders! Great move by Holiday World, absolutely can not wait to ride Voyage! IMO, the problem is not the trains. We got new trains in 2007 and the roughness was barely effected. It'd be like putting a cast on your arm for a brain tumor, it's just not the problem. It's the track, and the stress put on the track. If the trains are significantly lighter, it may make a difference, but we got lighter trains in 2007, and the difference is practically none. -
I think we can all forget the weenie roast, if I were Kings Island I'd do the newspaper test and come to the easiest, most painless solution: "After 2 lawsuits involving a hospitalizing accident in 2006, 6 months of dormancy after a woman burst a blood vessel on the ride, and the discovery of the ride's structural flaws, Kings Island quietly an quickly removes the ride from the park, putting SoB in the past."

I guess I'll go in Chronological order: From the Offseason Blues party in January. Opening Day in April. Ride Warrior Coaster Weekend in May. CoasterMania at Cedar Point in June Universal Studios in July Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in October Closing Day 2009 in November Best. Season. Ever.

There's no discussion about it, it's stuff you hear at the park.

Give me more B&Ms and more modern wooden roller coasters and we can talk, till then I give it an "Excellent"

I'm rather sick of the general public's irrational fear of Diamondback's restraint system. It's quite possibly the safest ride in the park, and yet it seems as though this area has grown accustomed to the fact that a coaster is not safe unless it's uncomfortable. It's rumors like "Diamondback will throw you out cause it doesn't have seatbelts" that will make the park actually add them to make the rumors end.

Another great assistance by the media. With stuff like this coming out constantly, I'm surprised we haven't seen the wrecking ball yet one week in.

A Christmas Themed opening on my wish list.

The tallest, fastest, meanest Reindeer ever to strike Kings Island! Son of Santa - Winter 2009. Your first present, could be your last. -
It's got Thunder Run and Greezed Lightnin, I like it. Besides, I got a 2010 Six Flags Play Pass, I might as well but it to use!

I still am left to wonder even who will own Kings Island in two, three, or four years out. If we are still under current management then I would assume that at one point we'll be in line for one. But to assume that current management still owns KI in future years is a risky bet, we might see a change of hands again before our next roller coaster, possibly before Starlight Experience comes our way in a year or two, depending on how the collection of nickels goes. Which reminds me, I wonder if Cedar Fair will try and make this a real money maker and make it an upcharge attraction. They're in debt of course, I'd imagine they'd be trying to collect as much revenue as possible!
-
IMO, not a chance. To much of a hassle to put it out back away from the park, and very little guest exposure! I see it either going on a midway, like Coney Mall, or Tower Gardens. Remember: KI is NOT getting one next year. If our Kiddie Area is being revamped, we don't get a Starlight Experience. But in future years, 2011 likely, we could see one. By then, who knows.

Kings Island: 25 Cedar Point: 2 Universal Studios: 1 Strickers: 1 Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom: 1 I hope to get much more in 2010. If all goes well, Cedar Point, Holiday World, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Waldemeer, Disney Orlando, Strickers, and more.

"We promised you an escape from the heartbreak and struggle of the work-a-day world. And what escape could be more final, "Then Oblivion?" That's my favorite.

Carowinds Planet Snoopy Names Revealed
Beast1979 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^Well, as a matter of fact.... It does. Sort of. -
Delirium, I guess everything else is taken.

I've heard all the spiels in the entrance and exit station ("To the Abyss and back again. Now we know what it's like when Human Endurance is pushed to--") but the only time I can ever hear the music durin the ride is the MCBS and the final brake section. All the other time it's droned out by the roar.
-
I remember the rumors that were strong for a B&M Dive Machine in Rivertown where Diamondback is, themed to the Core.
-
While there's not much new to show you Coaster-Wise, the Station has been receiving some work lately.
-
While I have never been to either, I have to say there is one ride at a sister park which has changed my view on coasters forever. And right now, they're making another one. I know it's more than just this that goes into a decision, but boy, if it were me, it'd sure as hell play a huge role in the decision making process!
