  1. My parents have made it quite clear that when I get an income then I pay for my season passes. Until then poor old Tooper Mom pays the bills. I wonder how she will react to this news, but if I were her I'm sure I'd be quite outraged. Down with taxes!
  2. It's absolutely impossible to know. A decade ago it was considered rediculous to think Chang would leave. And yet here we are in 2009, with it being replaced by some water slides. In 2003, who would have thought that 5 years later Six Flags Worlds of Adventure would be rotting? And in 2002 it was for sure Tomb Raider: The Ride would be here to thrill for quite a while. Now what is the common conception among those knowledgeable? Things change. Sometimes very slowly. Sometimes very, very fast. Things that are considered ludicrous one year is common sense the next. Maybe it never made sense, but it happened anyway. And in an industry where the driving force of everything is money, anything can happen if it means more nickels.
  3. I like everything people have said so far, newbies, friends, rides, etc, But for me, I just love being there. The fact that I'm not at school, or work, or with my in-laws, I'm here at Kings Island. Here is a place where I can have fun. Here is a place where there are no worries, no stress, no fear, no burden. Here your biggest worry is how long the next line is. Here you can drop 267 feet, hit 80 mph, swing through the air, see a show, go up in the tower, and realize that here, you don't have to worry. Here, nothing matters. Nothing, but having fun. That's what it's all about in the end. Having fun. It's escapism at it's best. It's Kings Island. And it's my home. I hope to keep it that way for many, many years to come.
  4. The Beach is overall a much better park, but 3 things really stand out for me. 1. Slide Variety is much better. You pointed them out yourself: Hidden Rapids, Aztec Adventure, but Bonzai I really hate. You're going so fast and not allowed to wear goggles, you have to close your eyes to keep from getting KO'd, and when you hit the water it hurts. I adore Snake River Falls though! 2. Forested area. You can choose a concrete jungle, or a place like the beach, where most of the slides are barely visible from the paths. 3. Constant Reggae music playing. Gotta appreciate a waterpark that plays Bob Marley and not the Beach Boys!
  5. While the odds of that happening are, in my eyes, are practically zero, it does sound like a cool idea.
  6. No, you throw the torch in, so it doesn't touch you.
  7. Nope. Aside from some of the theming being stripped from the tunnels (Am I the only one who remembers a blood red lit tunnel at night?) the ride has always run the way it is.
  8. "A New Era" event was open to ACE, GOCC, KIC, KIE, and WLWT. It featured a free buffet luncheon, complimentary wennies and marshmellows, and they gave away teaser posters for the replacement attraction. "Amazing Grace", "Kum-by-ya" and "Hallelujah!" were sung while holding hands around the 'campfire'. A dance party was later held in the Flight of Fear Dome, played to "Ready to go" and several Earth Wind and Fire songs. "Best Day I've ever had at Kings Island" said a Mr. Joey Baldacchino, 15, from Springburro.
  9. And how! Before I went, I heard numerous people from very accredited websites talk about how Incredible Hulk: The Ride at Universal Studios was the best roller coaster in Orlando, possibly in the state of Florida, a top 5 coaster. When you hear people talk about Universal Studios: Florida, you hear them talk about Hulk. So I rode it. And you know what? It bored me! It was a B&M With 7 inversions and a launching lift through a zero g roll over the lake. And I thought it was boring! And even more surprising, Hulk didn't make the trip for me. Neither did Dueling Dragons. The biggest surprise for me there was the Mummy! I'd put that ride up there with Spiderman, possibly over Flight of Fear! Moral: Wait and ride it for yourself. It's your opinion that matters, afterall. It doesn't mean a thing that Coaster___.com loves a ride if you hate it! "They come, they spend until they have nothing left to spend, and the leave Happy!"
  10. I like Beech Bend, and I'd be willing to support them in their endeavor to reach this goal, but I hope I misread it wrong when I read $79.99 for a pass. For Beech Bend? Wow.
  11. They did in past years, but not this year. One can assume why Kings Island would not want to display the trains in such manner as they did before, what with the recent events surrounding the ride.
  12. No, I meant how people have been saying this would be the best new ride of whatever year it happened to be. Of course, it's been delayed again, and again, and again, and again.... I have to agree with an earlier comment, what is the big hold up? I mean really, you have a problem with the track, you order new pieces. Cedar Point did it in 2 weeks. You have a problem with the Structure, you fix it! Paramount's Kings Island did it in a month. You got a problem with the trains, you get new ones! It took Knoebels.....4 years?!?!? Really!!!!???
  13. I find other things to (Temporarily) Take my mind off of it. I play video games, watch a lot of football, look forward to Christmas (December is the only month of the offseason that I actually enjoy), do sports (None on a team, but recreational at home play) and watch movies a lot. Movies are a great distraction for the mind. Do a lot of reading, a little bit of writing here and there, and play Microsoft Flight Simulator. I also spend a lot of time thinking about my other paradise on Earth that's not Kings Island: Cocoa Beach. *whistles*....nothing to see here, nobody to plot against, just go about you're day....*whistles* *Deep breath* Someday, Jackson, Someday....
  14. KIC has truly made a wonderful rebound lately, I can actually come on here and expect some good conversation with great people about a place that I love, and not have to deal with spam and awful members and fighting. Kudos to Ryan, Dane and Robbie for really cleaning this place up. I'd say KIC is back to 90% of it's original glory. I'm not giving that 10% back until we get our events back!
  15. It's a retheme, not an overhawl. I don't see very much happening out there at all besides the signs being swapped out, maybe a paint job or two redone.
  16. Seriously, how many times has someone asked that exact same question in this thread?
  17. I'm utterly crestfallen that Scooby is leaving. It's been at the park since it's opening, making it go doesn't feel right. I'm utterly overjoyed that Nick is leaving. Over the last few years Nickelodeon (The TV channel) has become downright garbage. There's iCarly, Spongebob, and then whatever other "Filler Shows" that seem to last a few months before Nick decides to throw something else at the wall and see if it sticks. The TV shows themselves have become horribly repetitive, with the same ideas and the same plot lines for every episode. The characters are abrasive and trashy, and the comedy is non apparent. Having them at Kings Island makes me feel surrounded by something that IMO doesn't deserve to be there, and shouldn't be there considering their target audience. [/rant] I'm off the walls excited that Snoopy is coming. Peanuts has always been one of my favorite shows of all time, even though there's only a handful or so of episodes out there. The characters are adorable and very likable, the plots are original (Anyone ever notice how recent shows have started taking off of old TV show plots?) and Snoopy is the single greatest animated character of all time IMO. I also think that some of my love for Peanuts has to do with personal history with them. Some of the best times of my life have either been spent around the TV with my family watching It's the Great Pumpkin, or sitting in front of the fire watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, even to the extent of going to Cedar Point (My favorite park on Earth) and being surrounded by the lovable characters of Snoopy, Charlie, Linus, Lucy and the gang. I have some history with the Peanuts and having them come to Kings Island just makes me ecstatic, for all the obvious reasons. And by the way, no offense but if you say "My kids have never seen Snoopy before" or "Don't know who they are", In my Opinion that's kinda sad. Snoopy is in the newspaper comics everyday, the Holiday Specials are on TV for days, and are some of the most famous of all time, and you say they've never seen them? I'm just dumbfounded. You've never even bothered to take half an hour of your night, take the munchkins to the TV and watch a Snoopy special? You've never taken the time to show you're kids the single most famous animated show in the history of TV? Wow.
