I remember my kids telling each other to dance....
-
The last time I remember it working was 2007.

After the beautiful views of the sunset and the ground on Friday night....Delerium......
-
Just as most people who drive wouldn't want to confront speeders.....
-
Now, I completely agree with you! If this wasn't the case, our prior debate would never have happened!

I meant no disrespect, and I hope you did not take that as a personal attack.... But consumers who spend money for anything from a five cent piece of bubble gum to a multi million dollar home should have the right to get what they paid for. In the case of an amusement park, what is expected for the price of a ticket or season pass is a clean park, free from obnoxious punks, and an entertaining and enjoyable family experience. In other words, what the consumer expects is FUN! If that is not delivered, the consumer can, and should, complain....

Gemini and AE are steel coasters with wooden supports, just as The Voyage is a wooden coaster with steel supports. And my children and I like riding them all, which, IMO, is what really matters!

With all due respect, would you say: 1. So, I see that you were a passenger on a commercial airline flight and the pilot was drunk and crashed causing you to be injured? Too bad for you! If you want to be a "drunk pilot police officer", go work for the airline or the FAA! 2. So, a city bus driver ran a red light and broadsided your car? Too bad for you! If you want to be a "bus driver police officer", just apply for a job as the supervisor of city bus drivers..... 3. So, a doctor performed surgery on you and left a piece of medical equipment inside you? Too bad for you! If you want to be a "surgery police officer", you need to work for the hospital..... I hate to say this, but all of those examples use the same logic as your argument......... My point is, when we pay money to go to the park or for any other service, we purchase just that, a service. And expecting that service to be delivered in a quality manner is certainly not unreasonable.

Im my opinion, your not missing much by not riding Mantis. It is heavily trimmed to the point of being boring.....
-
Yes, the thugs are in control, and the park seems to be indifferent.... Very, very sad!!!!
-
We got there around 5:30, when all of the bratty line jumpers were leaving. The weather was perfect and we had a very nice evening at the park! A lot of running in the park tonight though.....
-
In my experience SoB is best when the weather is cool in the morning and evening.... In the Rose Bowl you are experiencing over 4 G's so you are going to feel every little shake and it will feel rough.... I enjoy the ride though! On Vortex, I prefer the back car, but 5:1 is smoother, especially in the corkscrews after the MCBR!! Also, when you go, make sure to take a trip up the Eiffel Tower, the view is amazing!!!

Man, did I ever see a big wreck last Saturday. First the guy/girl, can't remember which one, got spun and then immediately got slammed into. No ejections resulted though. I love how there's a four strikes and you're out policy, I say two strikes and you're out...or...call me crazy...three. A lot of times I'll sit there on the bench near SkyFlyer and "call" the race. I'm a fan of racing, what can I say. I've never done anything as crazy as after the race interviews or anything like that...yet. If someone ever slammed into me on purpose, they would either find themselves spun out at some point, or find themselves smashed or slammed into the back of at the end like they do in the pros. I'd probably exchange some not so nice words with them afterwards, but try not to get physical or anything. I've never been on Thunder Alley myself. I've always thought it would be neat but I'm not sure if those little cars are much accomodating to a person of my size. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try sometime, I love the thrill of the race. We are going tomorrow night. I'm hoping that with the events on Saturday and Sunday, many people will plan on going those days instead of Friday. I'm hoping it will be similar to the night before Firehawk opened two years ago when the park was virtually empty.

While Diamondback is new and, in my opinion, a slightly better ride then Beast, as much as I hate to say it there are plenty of coasters out there similar to Diamondback. There is only one Beast. Diamondback broke no records (at least none the GP would care about) The Beast broke them in bulk. Diamondback recycles elements from similar rides. Beast is one of a kind. Diamondback did not set a new standard for roller coaster technology. Beast is a landmark, defined what a roller coaster could be. There is only one Beast. I understand the argument for The Beast and against Diamondback - it's all in how you define "best". Part of me wanted to vote for The Beastie/Fairly Odd Coaster as that was my first and I can see how it's creating another coaster enthusiast in my 5-year old at the moment. I find "ever" to be the key word..... You must remember that The Beast was the greatest coaster in the world, by far!!, when it opened!!!!
-
I voted for The Beast, of course. Riding it for the first few years was quite an experience. I remember being in awe as a 10 year old at the thought of riding the world's largest coaster!!! And remember that it broke records held, at the time by Gemini. Every time I go to CP and ride Gemini, which I find to be a fun little ride, I am still amazed at how high The Beast "raised the bar". And the fact that KI had people working for them who were capable of desingning and building it without modern computers or high priced engineering firms, is simply miraculous!!!!

Personally, I avoid amusement parks like the plague on Saturdays, except during the times when the park is only open on weekends..... My advice though is to avoid the mad rush to the "big rides" at the beginning and wait until about 12 or 1 pm when everyone heads to the parking lot to eat their packed lunch (which I also recommend, but wait until about 2 to go out and eat when everyone else is going back to the park and getting back in line). The key is patience on a crowded day, as I have attempted to emphasize to my children many times...LOL! But years ago, when I had a wife or a girlfriend, we always found the long waits (when we had nothing to do but hold hands and talk) to actually be very nice!!

I had planned on skipping Trim Brak-- I mean--- Did I just say "Mean"?..... Let's just call it the photogenic wooden coaster at the back of the park. But when I said we were skipping it, the kids taunted me and said I wanted to skip it because I was afraid of it... LOL!!! So we rode it (Sigh). It was the same as it has always been.......

platinum pass trouble at CP?
BavarianBeatle replied to rhoustonh's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Ours worked last year as well. I don't buy the "opening weekend" excuse. There are people who are paid to make sure things like that don't happen. In my opinion, their boss should have some questions for them right about now..... -
You cannot fall out of DB. I know that I could not get out of that restraint if I tried (not that I have....LOL!!!). A smaller person may be able to intentionally jump out but it would take effort!

platinum pass trouble at CP?

There were numerous people at Guest Relations with this problem on Sunday. Many of them were less than happy. -
2009 Cedar Point Opening Day PTR & VTR
BavarianBeatle replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Trip Reports
Can't say I blame them. It's great that in its 10th season, Millie still draws in crowds like it just made its debut yesterday. Had I been alone or with another adult, I would have been a willing part that mess. But I think it scared the kids a little, because they both held my hands until we were out of it. -

It was almost a stampede to get in line when Millie finally opened this afternoon!! That yellow train sat there for a long time this morning, then it was a madhouse.... I pulled the kids out of that and we went and rode Gemini, which was a walk on when we got there because everyone! was going the other way. Edit: Including many young teenagers running at us while we left the area!!!! -
What coaster would you like to see Kings Island get?
BavarianBeatle replied to Coaster Kid's topic in KI Polls
Before today, I always respected the efforts of KI's maintenance crew. After today at CP, with downtime on nearly every major attraction, I must say that I have owed KI's staff the utmost!!! respect and that I have not appreciated them nearly enough!!!!! -
2009 Cedar Point Opening Day PTR & VTR
BavarianBeatle replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Trip Reports
Glad you had a good time! Today was miserable with downtime on virtually every major ride in the park (except Magnum!) And our passes didn't work. Guest Services was a zoo with all of the people with KI passes trying to get in. Fortunately, I keep my passes in the wallet with my badge and a very nice (and attractive LOL!!!) supervisor named Nicole and a security person told us to "just go"..... The kids and I enjoyed being together, but the downtime got really old after awhile. --Beatle, who was glad you weren't there today to see your beloved Millie barely run at all and a line out of the que almost to the Red Garter when it did......
