  1. Hey I take pictures of all the rides - but especially Vortex! And there is nothing wrong with admiring the best ride in the universe! And someone that works at PKI has a count of like 150. Maybe its Sparky.
  2. Did you make it up? I remember mentioning V Unit to Karmen and she laughed and acted like it was the first time she had ever heard it. Maybe I heard it somewhere else though. We had some V-Unit nicknames too - Klocksta, Fitty, B-Dawg, Big T, Numba 1... Too bad youre not coming back Joe - it was fun. Like that time we rode Vortex like 6 times at the end of the night and the train was chanting "ONE MORE TIME" so we went around again. "*****in"
  3. Indeed, Grand Poobah is correct. I didn't want to spill the beans though. I work at Vortex and I know what its critical temperature is. Also - temperature has absolutely nothing to do with the air pressure on Vortex. You don't know what you are talking about and neither does your friend. Who was your friend by the way - I would probably know them if they really did work on The Vortex crew. Vortex does indeed use air pressure to control the platen and brakes. But that is not why it can't start up when it is below 50.
  4. No its not the Torah. It was something like a Lockta or something - but I know I butchered the spelling and pronunciation of that, and Ariel will surely turn bright red upon reading that, so I am going to shut up now.
  5. Don't forget about Son of Beast. It has a no-go temperature as well, since it has a steel spine in parts. And the ride can run below the temperature - it just doesn't open until the temperature has gone above it!
  6. September 29th, Pride Night, driving Monster. I was wearing shorts, and it was really windy and I was just sitting up there, so I wasn't generating any heat or anything. Man that was freaking freezing. And that console was cold too! Everyone wanted to check pods to keep warm!
  7. I heard that the Monorail was going to be turned into a penumatic thrill ride experience. Yeah King Cobra is still at PKI and doesn't seem to be in too bad a shape. I mean it needs major rehab - but I looks like it could be fixed. The question is whether or not a park could make money after the costs of buying it from PKI, and fixing it. I have seen the King Cobra track close up and its not as bad as you might think it is.
  8. That is where they are going to put the Giant Frisbee.
  9. It has happened. Maybe not that much - but lets just say that it is warm enough to open in the morning - but by night time it is well below its no go temperature. It would stay open because the ride is warmed up. And yeah there have been times where I will go to PKI with shorts on to start my shift and by the end of the night you can see your breath, and I am freezing.
  10. Youre a bigger ACER than me. What is your coaster count? Yeah mine is only 28. What do you have like 150 something??? Huh? And I do not have a membership card. Legend Rider does. I hope Holiday World adds a big steel coaster sometime. Like a good Vekoma or Gerstlauer or Mauer-Söhne.
  11. The rides can run when it is below the magic temperature. They do not open if it is below though. Meaning if they have been resting - they do not start them up until it is above the magic temperature. Like it could be 72 in the morning and drop to 45 - and they would most likely stay open... And of course FOF stays open - it is indoors.
  12. In 2005 it was the V-Unit. In 2006, whatever it is called - I will be at Vortex (if I return - won't know for a month or so).
  13. No Limits will always be better though. You can do so much more in No Limits - if you are good - and most people arent...
  14. I am so happy that RCT3 is out for Mac now!!!! Down with the facist PC regime!
  15. There is a HUGE bulletin board advertising it in Cherry Grove - about 4 miles from where I live. It is in a very high traffic area though. Anybody coming off 275 who lives in Anderson or that area sees it every day.
  16. I believe it is n00b and not newb... And yeah it is pretty funny watching people freak out on rides like Drop Zone and Delirium.
  17. I do. But yeah you are right. Any guest can pretty much observe that Drop Zone, Skyflyer and Slingshot close during high winds, and the steel coasters plus Son of Beast don't open when it is cold... So that is all that I can say. As far as Delirium goes - I rode it on April second - the day the park closed at noon because it was like 42 degrees and raining. Steel coasters were down from temperature, and the wind restriction rides were closed for wind. So the only rides open were Delirium, Racers, Flight of Fear, MSD, Beast and Tomb Raider. Everything else was closed due to weather, or was under construction.
  18. Thats so cool! I wish PKI would put a faded park map as the background graphic in their promotional materials!
  19. Don't know about Charles Jacques book - but I do know all about Charles Infosino's book. He even offered to autograph my copy! Well that was depending on whether or not I bought a copy - and I didn't. I totally forgot - and I was so ****ed - I could have got an autograph from the author of the Unofficial Guide to Paramount's Kings Island - and I totally forgot about it!
