Strickers Grove's Teddy Bear
Hoeter replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've never been to Stricker's Grove. It's a shame that it's only open to the public several days out of the year. -
I enjoyed reading Day 1....Holiday World sounds like a park worth checking out and Holliwood Nights sounds like fun as well. I'll have to head down that way and check it out. I'm looking forward for Day 2!

I saw the commercial here in Cincinnati for the Big Six Package- 6 visits for $30. I was down by Kentucky Kingdom in March at the Mid America Trucking Show at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Boy does SFKK look small. I'll have to check it out even though Chang is the only ride that looks appealing to me.

Sounds good....I can finally get some more near-Midnight rides in on The Beast.

Strickers Grove's Teddy Bear
Hoeter replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That's a first....I have never seen a dog on a roller coaster. -
I think you should ride Diamondback and Firehawk as well..... Diamondback- lots of airtime, the first drop is amazing, nothing else like it at Kings Island. Firehawk- closest sensation to flying, nothing else like it in Ohio or anywhere close. Hope this makes your decision a little easier.

Sorry, double post.

How about Chipotle? Probably not a good idea.

I haven't had anything except for Larosa's in the Festhaus so that's what I'm going to say. I know I'm missing out on a lot of great things!

I didn't ride Son of Beast with the loop. My vote goes to Firehawk.

Fantasy Farm closed in 1991....wow I was only 4 at the time but I still remember it like it was yesterday. http://www.forgottenoh.com/Fantasy/fantasyfarm.html (Forgotten Ohio- Fantasy Farm)

Night before tickets, discounted next day?
Hoeter replied to blueberryicecream's topic in Kings Island
In Cincinnati, Kings Island is running a television ad for $32.99 tickets at area Kroger stores. -
It is so sad to see Americana/LeSourdsville Lake in this condition. The last time I was there was when Jerry Couch had it operating. I also remember Fantasy Farm very well, went there when I was a kid. I believe it was right next to LeSourdsville Lake wasn't it?

Nice TR Trevor! Glad you enjoyed your first ride on Diamondback.

Which one is rougher? I have to say Son of Beast. I think that Son of Beast is an enjoyable ride, but it beats the snot out of you. As for Vortex, I think it is a good ride. 5-1 is the ONLY seat on that ride that's any good IMO. Any other seat that is not in the front of a car has me in pain the entire time.

Congrats on 40 Diamondback Rides! You got 13 rides in on Diamondback yesterday? I'm jealous.........

OHIO: a picture book to remember her by. Ft Kings Island.
Hoeter replied to kjkjkj's topic in Kings Island
Awesome pictures kjkjkj! Does anybody have a ballpark of what year these pictures were taken? -
Nice PTR. Pilgrim's Plunge looks awesome, as do Raven and Voyage. I'll definately have to check out Holiday World.
-
I'll take The Beast over Son of Beast any day. I actually enjoy Son of Beast. I must be in a minority.

Can't really recall anything interesting that I've seen ride operators do. But I can tell you I have heard some interesting spiels from them: "Sit upright, and hold on tight because Diamondback is about to strike!" "Whether you're in the front of the train or in the caboose, The Beast is out on the loose!" "This ride is 230 feet tall and has 8 inversions!" Captain Nemo did this one.

After Friday, I have ridden Diamondback 4 times. And no, I was not at RWW.

Is Disney Phoning It In?
Hoeter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Great story Terpy, thanks for sharing. -
I would like to give kudos to The Beast crew as well. I agree that they are one of the most enthusiastic crews in the entire park. "Whether you are in the front of the train or in the caboose, The Beast is on the loose!"
