Kennywood announces Thomas Town
silver2005 replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
From Facebook posts, I'm actually seeing a bit of backlash from this. A lot of fans expect Kennywood to stray away from any sort of branding it seems. Its been fairly split but polarizing reactions. -
It really depends on what time of day you ride it, especially in the summer. Early in the morning and through the afternoon, especially on a hot day, results in rougher rides, even in the good seats. Cooler mornings in spring/fall and into the evening/night in summer are the best times to ride it IMO. Dusk is when it really starts to shine. And of course, any precipitation is very welcome.

I think KI's next coaster will be something smaller to compliment Timbers and then we'll get something bigger like a giga coaster.
-
Racer's turns are fine. The only real major turns are the turn-arounds at each end. The are rough parts all throughout the hills, particularly in the valleys. Its way overdue for a solid re-tracking.

No. Cedar Fair isn't like Six Flags. Each park does more of their own individual decisions for additions. Yes, they did give all the former Paramount Parks a bunch of new rides right after them being purchased, but I only think that was to get them more in line with the other parks' lineups, plus you had GL go down as well. After the last B&M batch, they've strayed from any patterns.

^4 hour jet lag sucks.
-
^If you go during lunch, you can get a decent meal for less than $10 at the normal restaurants.
-
Is Carowinds just repainting every coaster now? All that's left is Afterburn if you don't count the 2 newer B&M's.

Do a Beast tour then come back to us on how feasible making paths are on those hills.

So....how was it?

What ride did KI make the biggest mistake in getting ride of
silver2005 replied to Beasttamer's topic in KI Polls
There's a HUGE one I forgot. The parking lot trams. -
I wish X-Base was on morning ERT, at least Flight of Fear (I can see omitting Firehawk due to it being finicky in the morning).
-
^I remember. I also remember that they only had certain rows on SOB and Beast set aside for them, both of which in terrible seats.
-
The ballpark seats at Reds HOF Grille are from Riverfront Stadium, the stadium the Reds were in before GABP. The blue seats were lower deck, the green above that, then yellow at the press box level, then red for the upper decks.

I feel they would have announced it by now if it was that.

Do we all forget that some of Intamin's pre-fab coasters were knocking on the door to 200 ft including Colossos, El Toro and T-Express? And those were right after SOB was built. It could have been done again a while ago, its just no one offered a chance for Intamin to do so, and those are the more reliable of Intamin's rides.

Phantom Theater, Flying Eagles/Tiques, and KCKC. -
Intamin has also kind of gone stale as of late. They haven't come up with anything new in quite a while and are focused in the Asian market at the moment. Most other companies can now play the 'me too' game with Intamin on top of continuing with churning out new innovations while also having better ROI and reliability.

With Knott's new coaster, I wouldn't count out Gerstlauer either.
-
This will be my first Coasterstock as well. I want to get an opinion on something. Is there more to get out of going both days or is going one day or the other pretty evened out? I don't think I could hack it 2 days of such length at Kings Island, even if its only in May when its still cooler out.

Ideas For Better Thrills!?
silver2005 replied to Hmrapp's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
With Backlot, they also did a lot of ground work when they built it. That area wasn't so hilly initially.
