  1. malem, goble and the usual meet up co- I do believe we have a challenge. I wonder which tunnel is the easiest to hold a conversation in.
  2. Firehawk- Definitely near the bottom of the re-ride list. It regularly has, at minimum, a 45 minute wait even on weekdays, its a slow loading procedure due to the seating style and is probably the most downtime prone ride in the park. Based on the actual ride, I probably wouldn't do more than 2 or 3, though, the very front and very back are awesome. Vortex- I've marathoned this plenty of times and its capacity is pretty good, probably top 5 in the park. I'm a fan of it, though, this is a pretty polarized ride though, some people really like it, others don't. If you like Arrow loopers, its a pretty good marathon ride. The back is probably the best place to sit though. Banshee- I love B&M inverted coasters and they do blast through lines pretty good. Banshee is by far the most intense of the B&M inverts I've ridden and I can't really do more than 3-4 on it in a row, but it certainly fits the bill for re-ridability. Drop Tower- I never really had the want to re-ride it. I'll hop on it once if I'm in the area and I don't get more than 2 or 3 rides during the day, but it mows through lines pretty well on weekdays. If you like vertical freefall, go for it. Delirium- malem can attest to the fact that I am often willing to go on Coney flat marathons, and Delirium is my favorite flat ride at the park currently. It does get a pretty long line though, and even though it seats 50 per cycle, its a fairly long ride cycle. I'm kind of inspired to try it this year now that I've given it some thought. Slingshot and Skyflyer- I don't have not want to fork out the money to marathon them and there are far better rides with similar concepts to do so for free (Delirium, Viking Fury, Drop Tower, Flight of Fear, Backlot, Diamondback). Others- Bat is incredibly re-ridable if you don't mind a bit of a walk around through the queue. Diamondback fits all the things Banshee does and is less intense and includes great airtime to set up for good reridability. Racer is decent in reridability though on the rough side. I like to marathon it in the evening and then head to Vortex, Diamondback and Beast to end my day if I'm not thinking of a Banshee night ride. Beast, despite its length, is good for re-rides (Beast night and rain marathons are amazing if you can pull them off). Timbers should be really good on re-rides (speaking from my own experience with a few GCI's). I've never found the need to do AE re-rides, and Invertigo is terrible for re-rides with the positive g's and the slight head banging it has. Backlot is too mediocre and low on capacity to do re-rides for me. Flight of Fear is pretty fun to re-ride early in the day. Most of the flats are pretty fun to re-ride, though, good luck with Scrambler, Monster and SR&R. Hot days are quite conducive for Congo Falls, WWC and RFYLCB marathons.
  3. Yeah, all those extra couplings between cars and wheel sets are pretty loud on Millennium Flyers. GCI's may be many things, but quiet sure ain't one of them.

Question regarding what was then Adventure Village- what was in the spot where the water tower used to be pre-Action Zone and what is that building across from King Cobra approximately where On Location and Drop Tower sit now? Also, I miss when the log flume and the surrounding area looked like that, especially with the wood carving shop still in that area. Rivertown used to look so cool. My family used to get the Skyline footlong coneys at the Rivertown location by WWC and sit behind WINGS to eat. It was a great view of Vortex and the lake on top of that with the Tiques and train chugging along nearby. Oh, and KCKC.

So I've taken a lot of Saturdays off at work recently and I'm really, really trying not to do any more, and I have a Sunday in April I need off for a concert, so I probably won't be at Opening Day this year, much to my disappointment. Though, that means I can get acquainted with Mystic Timbers with a nice marathon. Fridays in May are the best.
  6. Just so you guys know, you can get Voyage night rides outside of HoliWood Nights. I got about 7 in a row in late July last season. Santa Claus is right after the timezone change, so its dark even at 8 pm. I probably could have done all 3 at night in a visit (if they would have been all open...). silver2005, still annoyed at the lack of Raven rides he got last visit.

  8. The shaping of the curve is way different than the renderings. It kind of levels out before it takes a hard dip as it finishes swinging around.
  9. 1. A tie for me- 1 summer night circa 1994-1995 when I conquered Beast and Vortex in the same night and prior to that, my discovery of Top Gun and getting a huge night marathon on that. Both are the 2 moments that helped make me the enthusiast I am today. 2. Another tie- Paramount-era Tomb Raider ride program, Delirium and Skylab 3. Kings Island seems to not possess the coolness to play either Spencer Davis Group's or the Blues Brothers' cover of Gimme Some Lovin' 4. Maybe a Haunt-only thing, but not necessary 5. The month before where the anticipation of the new season starts to set in (especially after college basketball concludes) 6. Transfer track
  10. If Timbers' exit merges with KI&MVRR's exit (it looks like it spills onto the platform), wouldn't they have to kind of modify the platform with some kind of gate between the tracks and the exit?

  12. I haven't been to either MIA or Waldameer and I already have a Platinum Pass. In terms of money, I can't afford to go on much more than what I already have planned. I have to stay 2 nights around either MIA or Waldameer to pace myself due to medical stuff I have to deal with and I already have admission to MIA. I'm also leaving open the possibility of a day trip to KK (Thunder Run's new PTC's might be enough for me to return). And I wasn't going to compare Kennywood to anyone else. I have enough experience with parks to take them for what they are. Heck, my 2 favorite parks are Dollywood and Hersheypark which I like exactly for the reason you stated about Kennywood.

  14. Yeah, I'm really hoping they bring back Off The Charts or a variation thereof as they did most of their shows in the evening. Also, I usually reserve one day at KI for a Fast Lane day and splurge, but I think I will save that for one of the days I'm at Cedar Point.
  15. This season, I plan on making more short evening trips than full day trips due to the work schedule (unless I can get a few off days switched around). I'm used to going more for full days, and I was just curious on how to approach it. To put it another way, switching mindsets to be able to get the most out of short trips as someone used to going for a full days (those will still happen).
  16. Heart lining techniques are a big part of why you can do lap bars on looping coasters. Heart lining uses track transitions which center the lateral rotations (such as entering a banked curve or a heart line roll) around the rider at the point of the rider's heart. This decreases head movement, which, allows for more open restraints. Decreasing head movement is pretty important, its why a lot of early looping coasters have restricting head movement in utilizing OTSR's. Notice how the seats all nearly line up together with the cars creating a circle around them. Every modern manufacture of inverting coasters (sans Vekoma) and even GCI and Gravity Group use this technique. Its also why you can now use lap bars on looping coasters. In SOB's and Schwarzkopf's cases (almost all of Schwarzkopf's looping coasters use lap bars and those were built as early as the 70's), vertical loops don't create lateral forces.
  17. The fact that the shed is right after a set of brakes with only enough downward track to let gravity gradually roll trains into the shed, not to mention right before a sharp curve into the station should have been evidence enough to rule out an inversion.
  18. Uh...Premier can also create shuttle coasters and/or multi-launch coasters that do exactly what they described in the write up.
  19. B&M, Mack and Premier can hit 200 ft with LIM's. I doubt its Intamin.
  20. I didn't realize how much a size difference there was between the first 2 hills and the rest of the layout. This thing will have the afterburners turned up to 11. Oh, and this is longer than Thunderhead. WWC should be a more interesting experience as well, not only in anticipating water cannons, but with this thing flying all around.

  22. While Voyage is pretty decent at night, I have to give the nod to Beast. Voyage keeps up its intensity a bit too long for my tastes. If it were about 1,500 ft shorter, I'd give it more consideration. While Beast isn't as crazy on the forces, I like that its sprawled out over such a big area and the helix finale is pretty hard to top, even if it needs a 2nd lift. It handles the psychology aspect of coasters better IMO. Legend gets it just right though.
  23. ^And of course, they put it in a section that's one of the most out of the way points of the park along with the fact it isn't open the entire year.
  24. Thunderhead has a similar hill and curve into its final brakes. The fact its making a pretty big leap up there should show how much momentum it'll have finishing things off.
