  1. This may be a slightly minor complaint as it isn't quite as baffling as some of the things the park has/hasn't done, but why did they name their new coaster in a way that so closely resembles Thunder Run? I've already seen a lot of general public posts confuse Thunder Run and Lightning Run. Again, minor complaint, but a little originality goes a long way.
  2. Negativity and criticism are 2 different things. I can be critical of something and still want it to succeed. Examples: I am a HUGE Cincinnati Bearcats fan. Though we have been kicking butt and are pretty much a lock to go dancing in March, there are still things I am critical of about how the team plays that might prevent them from getting to the Final Four. That doesn't mean I automatically hate them. In terms of Kings Island- I love the park as much as anyone, but for the longest time, I really wondered why they didn't tear down, or at the very least, make a decision about Son of Beast when it was pretty clear it wasn't going to open. I admit, I did get a bit worried that the park was ignoring the elephant in the room and not making a decision earlier than they did. Of course, they had their reasons which I found out through research, reading from those with more knowledge here, and using a little common sense. That doesn't mean I hate Kings Island or Cedar Fair. To me, someone who you've labeled as a Kings Island fanboy, Kentucky Kingdom looks like an interesting park. I wanted to make my way down there before it closed but didn't get around to it. I plan on making a visit, probably when they get T2 and Twisted Twins re-opened. However, as others have mentioned on this thread, I recognize their financing and PR efforts have been questionable and they face stiff competition from what are already established parks, including Kings Island having a HUGE new coaster during the same year, to say the least. Even you have to admit those are things that can't be overlooked. But that doesn't mean I hate the park. If you interpret it that way, then you really need to learn how to differentiate between hating and criticizing.
  3. Looks like the park is getting some love from the LA Times. http://www.latimes.com/travel/deals/themeparks/la-trb-Banshee-coaster-kings-island-20140226,0,7731891.story#axzz2ujPHLiBl
  4. @ sccard01- Is it really that foreign a concept to you that Kentucky Kingdom's decisions and actions might be detrimental to the park? On what grounds and what info do you have to go on to be so sure Kentucky Kingdom will thrive the way you've been describing?
  5. Who says we're not thankful and what's so wrong with thinking about the future?
  6. One thing I think that deters people away from Stunt Crew Grille is the fact that Festhaus, an indoor eatery with air conditioning, is not but 100 ft away. Unless the new Chicken Shack has mind-blowing food, its likely that trend will continue. Also, whenever I've tried to go eat there, it seems like every other time its closed.
  7. Honestly I can't imagine the circle being anything but a walkway. There's not much room to walk if that circle were anything else. Anyone who knows Action Zone from the early 2000's knows it can be really congested in that area. Still begs the question of where they will add lockers though.
  8. For me, in order for Banshee to surpass Beast at night, it better be lit like this. Picture from RCDB. Link- http://rcdb.com/6667.htm This is Heide Park's wing coaster, Flug der Damonen, and it's lighting package.
  9. So as I said in the NCAA basketball thread, I will be with the band that goes with the Bearcats for their NCAA Tournament run. I've sorted things out with my professors at Cincy State that I will be able to do the first weekend as well as the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 round should UC make it that far. Obviously won't know where we'll go or the opponent(s) until Selection Sunday. I will be posting a trip report with photos, all from a band's perspective during games. Here is a link to the tournament trip locations. The NCAA range for flights is 400 miles, which all of the second/third round games are beyond that range.
  10. When I stay until closing, I usually try to end my day going Racer, Vortex, Diamondback, and Beast. I usually do the Eiffel Tower and the train together when I'm burning off food after a meal. Its a nice break in the action. In Action Zone (pre-Banshee), I rode Flight Deck (Bat), Drop Tower, Delirium, Invertigo and Congo Falls. The first 3 could be in any order, but the last two are on the end for a reason. I usually try to warm up to Invertigo as there are times the high g's get to me, and Congo Falls is a nice way to cool down from that. I often ride Congo Falls 2-3 times in a row after Invertigo, especially on hot days. Adventure Express usually follows. If I'm doing a thing where I'm trying to get all the major attractions in, I usually end it with WindSeeker into Backlot, before I go onto re-ride things. I have a few day plans in my head depending on a lot of factors when I go to the park. I'll have to find a way to fit Banshee into all of that. A lot of that will involve paying attention to how the crowds flow during the day. Should be interesting to see how Banshee affects crowd flow this season.
  11. Liking the wood arches in the station. I know this might be too much to ask, but a chandelier would be cool, maybe with cobwebs. I also recall that The Crypt had some fake flame torches which I think could be utilized in Banshee's station to great effect. Stained glass windows over the track at both ends might be cool, too.
  12. ^But if you'll notice under type, it still says under the hybrid (wooden supprts) that they're all steel coasters and for hybrid (steel supports), those are wooden coasters. RCDB goes by what the running rails are composed of (which I agree with), and they consider Goliath and Outlaw Run wooden coasters. I consider it a wooden coaster as most of the layers of the rails are still wood. The topper track just replaces the top 2 layers found on a typical wooden coaster with steel.
  13. Just wait until spring when we see some more green around it.
  14. There are probably more than you think. Its a rarity on wood coasters though. The only woodies with multiple lifts I know of are Beast and Twister at Knoebels. There are plenty of steel coasters that have multiple lifts, including a lot of Arrow and Vekoma mine train style coasters, Iron Dragon, Ninja, Loch Ness Monster, Dragon at Ocean Park in Hong Kong, Ultimate @ Lightwater Valley, Mystery Mine, Smiler, and more.
  15. Maybe they can rename it Poultryhouse?
  16. Since the crane is at UC, I vote we name it Oscar or Lucy. silver2005, crossthreading.
  17. 'Google' can still be used as a verb according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. It should still be capitalized, however. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/google The Purdue OWL also mentions the word's use as a capitalized verb. https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/735/02/
  18. I imagine they took out a Titanic exhibit as...well....the topic is rather depressing within a place like a theme park. Yes, we'll enjoy the rides and entertainment based on fictional themes, but oh look, the real tragic death of over 1,500 people.
  19. When they say rebuilt, they mean rebuilt. They take the trains all the way apart, do the necessary maintenance, then put them back together.
  20. 2 questions regarding that 70's photo that jandyb79 posted- 1. What was in that big bubble between the Eiffel Tower and Racer? 2. How long did they keep that canvas cover around the mini-carousels in HB land?
  21. I wonder what that random wall by the stairs will be for...
  22. I'd be all for digging up some of that concrete in favor of some trees and natural shading. I hated that they took out a lot of trees, even in the original section, when they made the Soak City revamp.
  23. I'm more curious to see what it looks like inside the station, at least we have renderings for what the outside looks like.
  24. Frankly, I come on this thread to talk about Banshee, its construction, and other updates concerning the ride. I do not like coming on this thread, expecting conversations around the ride, and getting all this stuff about capitalization. If I were someone trying to join this site, this would be a HUGE turn off for me not to visit the site.
