I signed up to do this again this year. I hope it is more organized than last year. The registration situation was a real mess. In fact, I had to ignore what the Color Me Rad people said to do, or I would have completely missed the race. Luckily I was able to locate someone from Kings Island to help me.

You have to wonder if past Kings Island management could have fathomed how relatively quickly two of those massive buildings in that pic would go virtually dormant.

I really think it will be something to keep people coming through the gate!

A couple interesting things I noticed on the app: 1. The "postcard" feature looks really neat. What a great idea. 2. The International Restaurant is featured on the map as a dining area. How many "less-informed" guests will attempt to go there to eat?

Here is a short video I made from some footage I took from 2011 that I came across:

Would you want to invite any negative speculation by purposely drawing attention to a ride that's not operating? (Something about safety being paramount!)

It looks fantastic. I still can't help wondering, though...Why the change? Why this ride? Why that point in time?

I'm looking for something out in left field.

While I couldn't have imagined such a thing not too long ago, I now will be surprised if it doesn't happen at Kings Island. -

^I tried it, shows no record of my purchase. Hmmmm... -
I think that anything that happens so close in proximity to arguably the most important part of Kings Island qualifies as extremely interesting.

I can't stop thinking about what could be going on at the Tower Gardens spot. I think this is one of the most interesting developments ever at Kings Island.

Anyone else a little skittish about attending this (especially if you have to drive a considerable distance), even if you feel that you've met all the criteria? -
Paper or plastic season/annual passes?

Wow, I hope someone else doesn't think think that would be a FUN idea. -

Will there ever be an *Official* Son of Beast Documentary
KIfan73 replied to DontWantToWait42mar0's topic in Kings Island
Maybe they could show it at the Kings Island Resort and Conference Center after they remodel it since they're both equally probable of happening. -
Here's a photo thread http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30367-kings-island-inn-resort-photo-thread/?hl=%2Bkings+%2Bresort I made about the Inn for anyone interested.

The shame of it is that it's still a really neat/unique facility. Just sitting there, barely used, above the entrance to one of the world's largest amusement parks. Kind of amazing when you think about it.

I still remember, not sure of the year, when I realized the IR was just closed. This was long before finding out information on the Internet. After seeing it closed a few times, it dawned on me it must be closed for good. I don't think it was announced or anything, they just kind of quit opening it, if I remember correctly. It was a real bummer because it was close to the time when I was finally able to visit the park on a regular basis, after just hearing about it for decades. Glad I got to eat there once, though.

I last stayed at the "resort" in 2013. I also stayed there in 2011, 2009, 2008 (and 1992). I don't think anyone that walked in up through 2013 (can't speak to 2014, but can't imagine it was much different) would even remotely call it "run down". The entry area/foyer was really nice. In 2013, I thought the room I stayed in could stand updating. I noticed things like trim around the doors, etc. were a bit worn, but that's it. Can't speak for every room and every hallway, though. Having said that, it's footprint was massive. Once I got to be a little bit older, I began to wonder how they supported it, especially given the amount of competition. If you never, or just not recently, visited the Kings Island Resort, it wasn't something that was decaying away...it just had gotten a bit dated. As much as I hate to see it go, it is completely understandable why it did.

Those pictures are hard to look at. Really sad.

"Rumor 2009 coaster" is the biggest one I can think of. The first (though unsolicited) pics of the (rumored to be) drained Swan Lake were shocking.
