  1. If, like me, anyone was thinking about a certain definition of the word diversion…there's more than one…which can greatly change any ideas you took away from this thread: NOUN: The act or an instance of diverting or turning aside; deviation. Something that distracts the mind and relaxes or entertains. A maneuver that draws the attention of an opponent away from a planned point of action, especially as part of military strategy.
  2. I guess it would depend on which part of the circuit you'd want it to run faster on. However, if you speed up one part it would affect many other areas which would need altered to handle the increased velocity.
  3. One of my favorite things at Kings Island. Love that area of the park!
  4. I've only been to one opening day (http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12817-photo-trip-report-sunday-42008/?p=211155). I hope to make this year my second one…starting out with running a 5k through the park!!
  5. Basically about the same thing.
  6. Just came across this photoshop I did awhile back. Freaky.
  7. I'm really excited about this, and hope it works out that I can do it. I've ran many 5ks, and can't wait to run one through Kings Island. For those worried about their clothes, you get a shirt on race day. Not worried about my shoes, either, I run in these...https://www.lunasandals.com
  8. I can still remember vividly seeing FC operating on my first visit to Kings Island in July of '92. I remember thinking that there was no way I was getting on that. Looked really intimidating. I had no idea of the very sad situation that happened on it the year earlier. I didn't know anything about that until I learned it on here just a few years ago. Thanks for sharing all those details. July '92:
  9. In case you're wondering who Christian Moerlein is…(I was): http://www.christianmoerlein.com/main.html
  10. I'm stunned, really.
  11. I thought it was going to be a coaster the first time I rode it.

  13. I'm seriously thinking about it.
  14. Thanks so much for posting those pics. I visited the park as a kid once in 1975, but don't remember it. It's so interesting to see what was in the park at that time, and what I may have seen or rode at the time!
  15. I'm not sure how close this is to SoB's spot…but you can see how hilly it was during the time of LCS:
  16. I wonder how important it is to Kings Island to have something take SoB's place in the skyline…it sure is going to look empty.
  17. I'd like to see a modern flume come to the park, but (from what I've heard) I wouldn't want it to shoot the rapids.
  18. I've noticed that this thread and Kings Island's "photo of the day" have mirrored each other at times!
  19. For comparison, here's that area in 1992:
  20. Or a diversion from one?
  21. The view from that webcam has changed fairly recently, though.
  22. Luckily it was low enough that the unfortunate WindSeekers could be reached. I bet they wouldn't let something like that happen today...
  23. I got to ride some of the rides pictured a couple years later, in 1975…if only I could remember it!
  24. I looked it up at KD's website…is that Shenandoah Lumber Company? When/what did they do to it? Not much detail on KD.com.
