  1. I love the pic of IS shops...I'd love to get some details about the places shown on the pics.
  2. Does your friend run a bulldozer, by any chance?
  3. My best memory of Vortex is seeing it for the first time in 1992...and not riding it until the next year. Took that long to work up my nerve! Luckily I have a photo keychain from that ride as a momento (in black and white, of course!).
  4. Was this always listed on KI's website? And what an ironic name... http://www.visitkingsisland.com/places-to-stay/area-campgrounds
  5. Wonder when it was filmed?
  6. Wow, thanks for posting these...1999 was one of only a couple years I've missed in the last 20, so I didn't get to see construction. However, I did ride it in May of 2000! It looks so different to see King Cobra in the pics! Does anyone else think the footers resemble a cemetary?
  7. Awesome! Thanks for posting!
  8. ...check the webcams during the off-season, including Christmas Day, just to see what Kings Island looks like on Christmas Day!
  9. I am sure I am in the extreme minority...I would prefer a ride on AE or Congo Falls over a ride on any flat at KI...and of all of the flat rides, VF and Zephyr are my favorites.
  10. Was the last "smaller" ride installed in the non-kids' part of the park Zephyr?
  11. I am so glad I had the opportunity to ride KC a few times. It was a fun ride. I kind of remember the queue...was part of it kind of below ground level? I got in line for in one night pretty late, and the line was really long, and my family members wondered what happened to me!
  12. My first ride ever at KI in 1975!
  13. Zodiac...see 1987-1989 at the link: http://www.KICentral.com/history/timeline.php
  14. Darn it, I never got to experience the campground, or even drive through it...come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a photo of it...
  15. Wow, I think you're right...it just looks so different!
  16. Yes, it is...about 4 pm to closing.... The best part about making that video was hearing the sounds of the park again!
  17. Fantastic!
  18. I remember visiting in the very early 90s and seeing the line for Vortex look similar to that one...is that a path leading to something at the end of Coney Mall?
  19. I think it's a great idea, and something I think the park needs. It doesn't look that far, to me.
  20. 2011! Good job! Topgun1993 has revived his excellent thread from last year...so I'm going to suspend this one...I look forward to seeing his posts every day, just like Standbyme's great thread. I thank everyone for participating, and hopefully I was able to somewhat entertain you in between those two excellent topics! Happy 2012!!
  21. Lol...I even picked up on that one...thought that was a pretty good coincidence!
  22. 1973! Today's:
  23. Just got a new computer this week, so I was finally able to put a video together from this trip! Enjoy! <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ad69ZOv-RcI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  24. 2005! Today's:
  25. I would have thought that WS would have affected the skyline at the vantage point at which many visitors snap a photo (Kings Island's "trademark" spot?). However, at that point, which you can see in the bottom pic I posted, WS "disappears". Seems like too big of a coincidence to me...and a placement that would have taken a bit of planning to execute correctly.
