  1. I was completely shocked when I came to find out, upon its completion, how you got to Kings Island from GWL. I thought for sure there was going to be some kind of special entrance or something.
  2. Freestyle Coke machines...the painting of Invertigo...new magic show...new focus on food items...all the clues are pointing to an remodel/expansion of Action Zone. Sorry, I just had to do that
  3. In this age of giant flat rides, can you imagine what kind of slide that would be installed now?
  4. I think that what is currently in that building is pretty sad...from the time you enter until the time you leave it..I think that it and the former Paramount story area of the park are two areas in desperate need of some attention.
  5. You know, as I sit here typing this on my iPad, I know that things that, at one time, sound impossible, are indeed possible. I found some interesting solar energy figures on a quick Internet search. According to this site http://solar.smps.us/solar-energy.html, the average amount of solar energy available on Earth is 15 watts/square foot (more of course in very sunny areas, and less in very non sunny areas). According to Motor Trend, it takes 70,000 watts to move a Chevy Volt 100 miles. 70,000/15=4,666 square feet, or about 70 by 70 feet.
  6. Is that a pic of it at Kings Island before the building was built?
  7. Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I kind of wish I could have experienced it.
  8. I learned of this type of policy back on my only visit to CP in '96. An hour into our visit, while in line for Magnum (never did get to ride it!), it began raining, then down pouring, and every ride was closed (but we did wait for 2 hours to ride what I believe to be the infamous indoor 'bobsled' ride).
  9. I actually ate at the International Restaurant that year, and I remember it being a nice get-a-way, as well as providing a unique view of the park:
  10. Hard to believe that KI's 20th anniversary was 20 years ago...
  11. I rode it on its opening year, and a few times after that, including post-loop. It was just a very forgettable coaster for me. It was indeed rough at some points, but I really can't remember much else about it, and I know that doesn't make sense. I actually remember my two rides on Skylab better than on my several of Son of Beast. I actually think that one of SoB's biggest problems was its queue. The way they recycled part of Top Gun's queue just seemed so half-baked to me. If you think about it, the most enduring rides all have interesting queues, and do a great job of setting the stage for the ride. Something about the ride's placement always just seemed a little odd, and when waiting in line, I almost felt like I wasn't at Kings Island any more. The ride just had a strange vibe for me, long before its very public "issues" started to occur.
  12. If you haven't already, be sure to follow Greg Scheid on your Twitter account. Been some very interesting tweets in the last couple days!
  13. Thanks for sharing! My family camped a lot when I was younger...too bad we never made it to that campground. Looking at your brochure, I can truly say I saw something KI related that I've never seen before!
  14. So, when the park changed hands when Paramount took over, it was without the Kings Island Inn?
  15. I still can't believe that any Kings Island management team allowed the opportunity of having an "in-house" lodging facility slip through their fingers. It must have lost a lot of money.
  16. There's been a few brochures that have been posted lately, so I thought I'd share the scans of my 1975 brochure...
  17. My wish list for a new ride would include something that looked like that upon entry to the queue of the ride...
  18. Today's pic is an awesome shot!
  19. Thanks for sharing...if I was a little closer, I'd go take a sneak peek at the park every once in awhile. I can't believe I'm asking this, but I have totally lost track...how long has it been since SoB operated?
  20. I like the classic sketching style of at postcard, kind of like from the opening year's guide...would be neat to see new attractions sketched like that.
  21. Great pic! There's a picture of a certain member in the gallery on the same ride, but a few years earlier!
  22. I can't believe that Diamondback is almost as old as Vortex was when I first rode it!
