40th Anniversary...how about a History of KI area?
KIfan73 replied to RD Reynolds's topic in Kings Island
I went to the park with some friends and really enjoyed a ride on Skylab...in 1995. -

I'd like to see it as part of a shop or eatery on International Street... -
Nashville: new theme park?
KIfan73 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Kings Island itself is a World of new Frontiers, as I understand it...well, it at least prevented a new Frontier, I think... -

I had never really thought about that...and moving some of the actual rides to there sure didn't hurt! -

People pay a lot for nostalgia..something that a new park has a hard time providing... -
Really interesting coaster construction stuff in that article.

Nashville: new theme park?

What is the newest theme/amusement park in the U.S. that is currently operating (not counting Disney additions)? -
In addition to what has been posted above, I really liked how KC looked...I liked its setting, and it was a fun coaster to watch operate.

During my visits to the park last summer, I couldn't believe how many people were still being drawn to the park by Son of Beast.
-
One of the best things about it, too, was that you had no idea what was coming up when in line for it. The first time I rode it, I had no idea what kind of ride it was.

I hope Cedar Fair likes today's pic as much as I do!

Six Flags Over Mid-America mid 70's

Wars are expensive. -
I would travel the same distance I do to Kings Island to a park named The Beast whose only attraction is a roller coaster named The Beast.

A lot what I see looks a lot like Kings Island from the same era! -
Son of Beast adds a lot to the KI's skyline, even when it's not not operating. There's got to be some value there, and I can't help but think that's one reason it's still standing. There's a lot of people that visit the park that see Son of Beast from the the parking lot, and have no idea where it is once they're in the park. For all they know, when they ride The Beast or Adventure Express, it could be the ride they saw from the parking lot, which was SoB.

Skylab was a really fun ride. Are there any giant Skylab rides?

I was completely shocked when I came to find out, upon its completion, how you got to Kings Island from GWL. I thought for sure there was going to be some kind of special entrance or something.

Freestyle Coke machines...the painting of Invertigo...new magic show...new focus on food items...all the clues are pointing to an remodel/expansion of Action Zone. Sorry, I just had to do that

In this age of giant flat rides, can you imagine what kind of slide that would be installed now?

I think that what is currently in that building is pretty sad...from the time you enter until the time you leave it..I think that it and the former Paramount story area of the park are two areas in desperate need of some attention.

You know, as I sit here typing this on my iPad, I know that things that, at one time, sound impossible, are indeed possible. I found some interesting solar energy figures on a quick Internet search. According to this site http://solar.smps.us/solar-energy.html, the average amount of solar energy available on Earth is 15 watts/square foot (more of course in very sunny areas, and less in very non sunny areas). According to Motor Trend, it takes 70,000 watts to move a Chevy Volt 100 miles. 70,000/15=4,666 square feet, or about 70 by 70 feet.

Kings Island Tomb Raider Media day and other old pictures

Is that a pic of it at Kings Island before the building was built?
