I wonder if SoB's demise had anything to do with the construction of Diamondback?
-
I can only imagine that the situation with Son of Beast and Kings Island would be like buying a new Porsche 911, only to have it not run and be forced to park it in your front yard. Like the Porsche, not only was it extremely expensive, it was supposed to provide thrills for years to come.
-
Great photo! I was on that tour, what a unique opportunity it was.
-
Son of Beast was operating then, too. it was a dangerous time to be at Kings Island.
-
It's too bad they took the motion seats out of the Action Theater. A POV "Son of Beast Experience" could have went on there for years.
-
Having never been to one, how do the Disney parks stack up to how they were originally? Is it a similar situation compared to Kings Island?
-
I think the park should have considered the name that you used for this thread!
-
Personally, I'd like to see a low to the ground ravine runner coaster as opposed to something similar to DB.

Is Kings Island just for ride warriors or not?
KIfan73 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
I love to just walk around the park. If I lived closer, I'd do it all the time. Your experience(s) may vary. -
stky6, thanks for sharing your stories! Very interesting, and definitely from a perspective I've never heard before!
-
I'll have to ride FoF soon to see if I notice the same thing. I can't say I remember ever "dangling" from it like Vortex.
-
Wow, that's really surprising. That part has freaked me out for the 20 years I've been riding Vortex. How interesting.
-
You mean you wouldn't fall out during the corkscrew? (I'm seriously asking)
-
What a great report and great pictures! Thanks for sharing. Tuesday would have been a great day for a trip…fantastic weather. I need to get back soon!
-
I remember I went to HH opening night in 2009. The first thing I wanted to ride was FD. There was no one else. Along with the dreary weather, the Halloween atmosphere, and me riding FD all by myself, needless to say, it was an eerie experience!

I think you get one for every tenth post in the "whats next for sob" thread.
-
They are offering a neat shirt with the original KI logo and all of the rides listed that were open in 1972. I believe it said "opening spring of 1972" on the front, also.

What do you want at Kings Island in 2013?
KIfan73 replied to RollerCoasterHunter's topic in KI Polls
I think Kings Island should donate a dollar for each post in the SoB thread to charity. -
I think I have an idea of why WindSeeker is where it is…this is a thread I started a few months ago: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24860-just-noticed-this/#entry448256

I think that having something like the trams would be great to have again, especially from a customer service perspective. It seems like it would help give the impression of "we're glad you're at the park", instead of "here's our park, and don't be afraid to throw plenty of money around!" (possibly by doing the first thing, the second thing may actually happen with even more frequency).

While we're doing some speculating here, IF SoB is removed, I really don't think that anything will go in its place. I look for there to be development in other, sort of underrated spots (see Diamondback) in the park. I can see the "footprint" of the park just being moved away from that area, especially if FD is ever removed (which I would hate to see, because I really enjoy it).

Browntggr, I love Vacation, too. It's maybe the only movie that I could watch over and over again (even more than I already have!). I love the opening that you posted, too…I don't think there's been a trip that i've been on since that movie came out where some lines from it haven't been quoted…lol "Mr. Griswold ordered a blue sports wagon, where is it?" "I don't know sir."
-
The 80-some miles in between where I live and the park.

This is really not to endorse the park's pricing of the lockers…I really have no idea of how much the prices are or aren't inflated…but I worked at a small roller skating rink on and off 20 some years ago, and even back then, I was utterly stunned when I heard how much the cost to purchase and operate the lockers.

I believe the Kings Island Inn is the only one with a shuttle. Personally, I've always stayed there and have always had a good experience.
